Ramblings
People, I really must apologize, I don’t have anything worthy of discussion. I suppose the one thing that features in everyone’s mind this week is this persistent RAIN. I think we could really use a break now. My Aunt’s funeral is tomorrow morning. I can’t begin to imagine what the scene out at Dovecot will be like with its RED dirt. I think I had better carry an old pair of shoes.
Well, if nothing else, with the rain there is little that one wants to do outdoors especially for entertainment. So, maybe its a good thing that The World Cup has started. WICKED!! At least you can check a bredren and have a few drinks while watching the matches this weekend, or just loaf at the yard and do the same. I have France and Argentina up there, but I guess there must be others that will provide us nuff skill and excitement. Comments about this are more than welcome!! World Cup is easily my favourite International sporting event, I like it more than the Olympics. As the tournament unfolds, I think that both my site as well as Mad Bull’s will be full of posts about the better matches.
Well, as I said when I opened, I am a bit short on commentary tonight. So with that, I’ll just exit as I don’t wish to be accused of chatting crap. You all take care, keep dry and look out for the GOALS!!!
May 31st, 2002 at 9:28 pm But see how France get dust out! I was carrying them. They have put my prediction in doubt in their first outing. They had better get their crap together by the next match. Awoah!
May 31st, 2002 at 10:24 pm Fear not Dr. D, with the exception of your erotic saturday morning blog, for which Rufie properly draped you up….(three cheers for little sisters)…I have been entertained, challenged, left in stitches, and become a regular visitor to your office. As for the World Cup….sorry guys but I have not yet caught the bug. This evening as I opened my gate to drive in a neighbour said “so what do you think” . I was blank….so i said “about what?”…I am sure looking as puzzled as I felt…”THE WORLD CUP!!, what else is going on?” and looking at me like I was lost in space. I just muttered something and drove in. Then Dearly Beloved asked me the same question later…..I hope I manage to get “with it” soon or I will become a social outcast for the next few weeks. Now if the “Tour De France” was on………….
May 31st, 2002 at 11:26 pm Dr D I know that things will fair well tomorrow at our Aunt’s funeral regardless of the weather, but your suggestion is good as we all know about Dovecot’s red dirt
May 31st, 2002 at 11:58 pm Well, I had no idea that this post which in my opinion equates to nothing, would have resulted in any commentary at all. Phleg, yes you have indeed become a regular commentator, and I appreciate it greatly. However, I cannot comprehend this lack of passion for what is easily one of the World’s greatest Sports. Anyhow, I can’t fight you down, I feel indifferent about many sports that others would die for eg. GOLF, AMERICAN FOOTBALL, I can watch cricket highlights but the whole day affair doesn’t grab me. Regards France and their loss today, I can’t comment as I never saw the match. Anyhow, sport is unpredictable and the game may just be wide open (just like a goal).
June 1st, 2002 at 12:01 am Rufie, regarding the INS, all I will say is that’s “America the Beautiful” for you!
June 1st, 2002 at 11:34 pm I think it is a great lesson for the “reggae boyz” that they are not in the world cup as to me as usual they thought they had ” arrived ” already but THE BOAT LEF DEM!”
June 2nd, 2002 at 12:44 am Interesting observation, Natty. And as usual, I think that there is more than a germ of truth in what you’re saying.
June 2nd, 2002 at 1:35 pm I have to agree with Natty rgarding the Reggaeboyz not reaching WC2002. The fact is the team on paper is better than the 1998 team, but it doesnt have the heart and guts to do the things to repeat history. Its unfortunate though as I made the trip to France in 1998 to see my beloved RBZ team take on Croatia, Argentina and Japan. When Gardener put in deh cross from the left flank and Robbie erle convert the header to goal…..mi jump up like mi sidung pon macca..LOL. I was only 3 rows behing the goal. Feel like me see it pon BIG SCREEN…:-). Well..maybe there is hope for WC2006.
June 2nd, 2002 at 3:21 pm Natty, like MB and Prodigal Son, I have to agree with your comment re our Reggae Boyz. It would have been nice to have them in this tournament, but perhaps the team will mature in the 4 year period before the next one. Prodigal Son, I was in England studying when we made it to France. Me nearly dead wid excitement the night o de qualifying match. No studying did tek place fe bout 2 day after, pure juice was a drink!!! No, MB neva deh deh!!! Unfortunately, me neva have NUFF MONEY like yuh, so me neva reach cross deh, despite the fact that Waterloo Station where the “Chunnell Tunnell” starts in England, was a five minute walk from where I was living. Trust me, I was living ‘hand to mout’ as a student there. Happiness was 2 Red Stripe or a drink o VX and a poo magazine!! Anyway, I guess I’m no worse off for it today. Prodigal, you did see the ‘basketball’ wid Germany and the Saudi Arabian team? I mean, me never know seh 8-NIL was a football score!! I would have thought that the kind of money that they have, should allow them to ‘buy’ a rass of a team. Anyway, maybe is retribution fe wah de yute Bin Laden did do the US and the rest o de World! Anyhow, keep watching as the Cup unfolds. I expect that you will be dropping nuff commentary this month bredren!
June 2nd, 2002 at 6:45 pm What a rass!!!!!!!…Dr D, mi was in Houndslow East with mi breddah Cory and him girlfreind for that WC98. If yu did a ilve near Waterloo Station den dat mean yu did deh nearby….cho man…dat woulda be a good link. Cory was studyin them time deh too. Him did hear bout a coach tour fi deh Croatia game and buy mi ticket b4 mi cross Atlantic. But…di damn USAirways plane delay mi flight 10 hours…LOL. Nevah reach London till 5 hours b4 game time…and deh bwoy Cory did gone lef me. Ah good ting him tell him gf how mi fi catch deh Chunnel train to Lille and den tek taxi to Lens. To ra$$..yu waan seh Prodigal inna French territory and dont speak a lick of it…LOL. me reach a dejh stadium by deh grace of God. It was good time though…..ist and only trip across the pond. Me did se the 8-0 game yes..LOL…Germany put on exhibition game..LOL. Mi just done watch the England v Sweden game too. England lucky no rass…..still dem good…but young and inexperienced…Beckham haffi play full 90 mins against Argentina this Saturday.
June 3rd, 2002 at 8:26 am Yow Prodigal Son, too bad you never link me, maybe you could have sponsored me to go to France. Yup. I know Hounslow East, at least I passed through it on the ‘TUBE’. So Cory lef yu rass inna England, well the worse that could have happened is that I could have offered yu a kotch inna my likkle 2X6, only ting is that you had to cross the passage to answer the call of nature! Took me a rahtid long time to adjust to that ’shit’ (note pun) after being accustomed to my own toilet for the better part of 30 years! Well I woke up this morning to turn on the TV just in time to watch Brazil’s Rivaldo take the deathly penalty shot against Turkey. I must say however, nuff shot unda FIFA tail fe allow the matches to be played at these very odd hours when we on this side of the world are either sleeping or just getting awake! BOW BOW!!MURDER COMMITT!!
June 3rd, 2002 at 8:28 am BTW, Prodigal Son, you must fly good airline yute! AIR JAMAICA!!!!!
