Another Day at the Beach!

I had mentioned in a post earlier this week that some of you readers may think that I am a beach bum with a medical education. Perhaps you are right. I decided to go to the beach again today. This time, I went to Hellshire. I took Bert, Mad Bull and MBJr. with me. Now, I prefer to go to the ‘low profile’ area of the beach, simply because there are just too many hustlers attacking you once you decide to go to the ‘high profile’ section of the beach, which is also always much more crowded. Something I don’t particularly care for.

Anyway, I note that the Authorities have put up posts so you can no longer park in the low profile area of the beach. If you wish to go to that section, you have to park the car on the road and walk in to the beach. I did not feel comfortable doing this, so I went to the high profile part.

Rass! The usual onslaught from before we even stepped out of the car. Hustlers everywhere, even finding a space to park has a man ‘looking a money’ (trying to get a tip). Oh, I hate it. Were it not for the Fish and Festival, I doubt that I would ever return to Hellshire. Lime Cay is a far more pleasant experience, but the fish they cook there is just not as good as at Hellshire (at least in my opinion). Anyway, the day was quite hot and did not turn out bad, so it wasn’t a bad way to spend a few hours of the Sunday.

Just as we arrived, I saw a man with a huge crab that he had caught. Unfortunately, I forgot the digicam or this beast would have warranted a snap. It seems to me that the claws would each yield about a pound of sweet flesh. Man, was it huge.

The water was quite warm, but the beach was a bit too crowded for my liking. Well, that’s how it usually is on Sunday.

The salty water has certainly helped to clear my sinuses a bit, so I hope that during the course of this week, I will be able to put this Upper Respiratory affliction that has been haunting me for the past week, behind me.

Unfortunately, tomorrow spells W-O-R-K. The good thing is that Thursday is a holiday, and I’m not on call, so who knows where the summer breeze may blow me? I haven’t fully made my mind up yet, but Frenchman’s Cove sounds like a damn good choice! Time will tell.

I’ve always enjoyed a crowded beach. There is something so exciting about seeing all the people having a good time in the sun. Of course, I’ve never had anyone ask me for money or such either, and don’t think I would like that very much myself. )

Dr D…I actually like the Lime Cay beach a lot. Very laid back and naturalistic. Last time I was there was 1983 though..LOL. I guess it is much different now than then.

Prodigal Son, it seems as if living in ‘foreign’ is beginning to take a toll on you! Actually, before I started going to Lime Cay on a regular basis last year, I had only been there once over 25 years ago!! This was in my Prep. school days. My class won the trip there as a prize for selling the most barbecue tickets in the school. On the way back, I remember quite vividly, the propeller dropped off the boat into the sea!! Another boat had to tow us in. We were given lifejackets and told that we might have to swim to shore to rass!! Me nearly dead my yute! After that incident, I hadn’t been there for many many years as I was afraid of the boat ride. It nuh bodda me now dough! All me need fe tink bout is the nuff nuff ’scenery’ an me cool. You must definitely make a visit on your next trip.

Man, those hustlers were disgusting. I didn’t really love the food this time either. I guess the best thing was that MB. Jr. got to pat the horses. Thats the first timethat he’s ever done that. Probably he won’t remember it, but I will

Agreed Mad Bull. The fish was not as great as it usually is, anyhow, I guess it was far better than staying home. I must get Dr. Spanish to arrange for MBJr. to go to Caymanas with him one of these days, I’m sure he would enjoy the experience.

That sounds like a really cool idea…I’m sure MB Jr would love it and would like Dr. Spanish, too - MB Jr seems to love animals a lot. I love the beach too Dr D, but in this heat I’d be most uncomfortable as you know I burn quite easily and am always wearing a shirt over my suit no matter how high the number of SPF sun block I apply, additionally it seems since I’ve gotten older, I notice that I have more freckles on my shoulders - oh well! wouldn’t like the sun to ‘trouble’ them and/or make them worse; kind of takes away the fun in the sun eh? But hey, if I was in Ja…Frenchman’s Cove would definitely be a move for me…I love it there, it’s so scenic, beautiful and restful, too. Have a great day when it comes and have a drink on me.

I have never been to Ja but a place called Hellshire doesn’t sound the sort of place one would want to hang out. )

MissX don’t let the name Hellshire fool you, it is not a bad beach at all. Prodigal Son, you better come home soon.
