Some thoughts about blogging.
It has been perhaps about four months since I have started this blog thing. Some things I have learned from it have been positive. I must say that although most of the blogs that I read are authored by people that I do not know, I feel as is if I know enough about their personalities by the way they express themselves in their posts.
Another thing that I have found out, is that although we may have differences in our cultural backgrounds, at times we react to situations similarly and may share the same views on a point. At other times, however, we can be quite opposed in our opinions.
One thing I like about this blog/internet stuff, is the ease with which we can ’surf’ from one country to the next in order to read the posts of my ‘friends’, if I may be permitted to use the term. By the simple push of a few buttons, I stay in Jamaica and read my bredren Mad Bull, who really is in a class by himself (respec my yute!), because he is one of my close friends. Then I fly over to California and see what wKen has to say for himself, as well as shelli. I can then cross the Atlantic (which takes about 8 1/2 hours by air from here) to England and read Shelagh.
If ever they were take nominations for the best female blogger, I think I would have to give my vote to kd. In my opinion, she is truly the Queen of bloggers and I’ve grown to like her.
One thing that can be a bit confusing about blogging, is the issue of gender. Sometimes, by a blogger’s internet name, it can be difficult to decide whether the person authoring the post is male or female. No offense intended folks, it is only this week that I realized that both Blue Wolf and Red Eagle are ladies. I had assumed that they were males. Anyway, with the way how things are changing in the world today, the issue of gender will soon not be an issue at all, but then again…..
Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. I think I just want to say that I have started to enjoy this business, and I try to keep my readers coming back for more by making entertaining posts.
Change of thoughts. Is is just me? Or, does the weather feel unusually humid, hot and still these last few days? It feels to me like the type of weather that is associated with a Tropical Depression! Oops, let me not ‘goat mouth’ the weather now. It really feels awful tonight. (The fact that I have not showered yet, does not make it any better either.)
Last but not least, I went to Shelli’s site earlier and took a Geek test. According to the test, I am only 5% Geek. If you do the test, you may understand why I’m only 5% Geek. It does ask a lot of questions about computer related stuff, and I’m pretty dismal in that area (a non-tekkie). You can do the Geek test at fuali.com. BTW, fuali stands for “Fucked up and lovin it!” (I thought the name was radically cool!) That’s all for now folks. Keep on blogging. Tomorrow is a hoilday here, so I’ll see what I can come up with, OK?

Now its time to take on (a) new protege(s). It is time for me to increase the size of my brood. I will be going for Seven and Rufie next. Maybe even Natty, if I can swing it. Look out world! You’re witnessing the birth of Bloggers Jamaica! The little bit of Jamaica that blogs…
July 31st, 2002 at 11:13 pm Ah I am so flattered you mentioned me. You are not so bad yourself. Of course you are always welcomed to stop on bye and say hi. BTW its been nice in Southern Califonia haven’t used the a/c for a couple of days. Nothing but love baby..:-)
August 1st, 2002 at 8:58 am LMAO..you just figured out we’re women..I guess I never looked at our nics as so gender neutral, of course alot know me from my previous blog though, which for reasons I’ve posted on my site I can’t post the name here *s*
August 1st, 2002 at 3:45 pm I agree that one of the best parts of blogging is communicating with people all over the world. According to my stats, my site is read in 84 countries right now, and though very few visitors comment, I have had the opportunity to chat with people from almost every continent. It gives me a much broader picture of the world and the people in it. Keep up your posting, and thanks to Mad Bull for getting you started.
August 1st, 2002 at 6:10 pm 84 countries! Respec due to you wKen. I guess I’m just a pickney (child) in this business!
August 1st, 2002 at 7:46 pm Hey…Dr D… Did my gender traumatize you so much that you put my link up wrong? Or was it the devastation of only being 5% geek?
August 1st, 2002 at 10:01 pm So sorry Blue Wolf, it had nothing to do with your gender, it was a genuine error. I made the necessary correction and all is well now. My humblest apologies.
August 1st, 2002 at 10:55 pm *grin* No prob Dr D… I was just playing with ya… Glad to see you fixed it, though. And keep up the good learning!
August 2nd, 2002 at 1:51 pm The next time you surf in to the UK can you bring some Jamaican weather with you please?
