She is not finished with us!
Rains associated with Lili continue to pelt the island. Unfortunately, reading the Gleaner on line this morning, I note that there has been at least one death. Sad indeed.
I guess I am lucky in that the roof of my home does not leak and the land on which my house is built, slopes, so water drains away from the dwelling. My backyard is under water though.
Despite the very wet conditions, I am going to move out and go in to work. I have have to proceed cautiously on the roads as I am sure there are potholes, that are more like graves, waiting to swallow my car.
From the looks of it, this thing does not seem to be abating at all, and I suspect we should be seeing more rain at least until tomorrow. (Since when did I become any damn forecaster? Better stick to what I know eh?)
It is strange how weather conditions can vary all around the world. From what I have been hearing, California could use some of this rain. Also, I was doing some surfing (on the net of course) yesterday and saw where farmers in Australia are enduring droughts of two years duration. As a result, many of them have had to resort to shooting kangaroos in order to sell the meat, as they are almost penniless. That was a bit of an eye opener to me, as I did not know that they ate kangaroo meat at all.
I also stumbled across another article while surfing, that I felt like posting about, but, I was trying to link to the article, and the address in the link did not seem to work. Perhaps I should give Mad Bull a shout. Me sure seh my yute can fix any problem with computa, nuh true rude bwoy?
So, if you are inclined, and providing that the electricity supply continues, you can check later for yet another post, and an update on what is happening with Lili. Seen? Respec due to all.
October 1st, 2002 at 12:28 am I’m glad you’re not flooded out. Watch that backyard of yours though! (I saw those clips of the flooding in Jamaica and worried!) Don’t get me started on the kangaroo killing in Australia. Do NOT be fooled by the media. The ranchers are NOT selling that meat because they are starving and without means. It is BIG BUSINESS. I can send you information on it if you want.
October 1st, 2002 at 8:28 am Goddess, it seems as if the rains are abating today, it is partly overcast with the sun trying to peep through. Re: the kangaroos, it is not necessary for you to send me the info. If you say so, then I take your word for it.
October 1st, 2002 at 5:06 pm By now the Deaths have risen to 4
October 1st, 2002 at 6:49 pm Yes Phleg, I saw that the death toll had indeed risen to four. Such a pity. One never knows what is in store for us. As for this ‘high brown’ to which you refer. I suppose that I first should clear both MB’s and my name. We may be ‘high browns’ (if you seh so) however, having gone to school with us for the greater part of 7 years, I think you should know that we are two serious rude bwoy Georgians (perhaps with a little social conscience on my part, Mad Bull now, weeelll…..
