Tired of taking CRAP!

I got most pissed off at work today….. We have a patient that had an Abdominal Ultrasound done on Monday. The report was still not on the Ward this morning, so, I decided to go down by the Department to see if I could get it. This I did. So I went to the clerk in the relevant section. She had a few patients dealing with who were to have tests done this morning. So, I stood up for about ten minutes waiting before I could get a chance to speak with her.

Eventually, I was able to tell what I was there about. She grumbled something under her berath, but I took no notice of it, as I assumed that someone else had screwed with her. I had done her nothing. Eventually, she found the report. She asked me where the patient’s X-Ray bag was? I told her it was on the Ward with a Chest-X-Ray in it, which the patient had the same day as the Ultrasound, and the report reached the Ward the same day the X-Ray was done. She blurts out, “Why did you not bring the bag?” I replied, “There was no need to as I would simply take the report back to the ward and put it in the bag!” She started to dish out more attitude.

“Anyway, sign in the book to say you have received it”, she said. Now, she is supposed to write up the particulars and then leave a space for whoever collects it to sign, in the ‘book’. She grabbed the book up and simply wrote the date. Then she flung it down. She said, “Sign you name by the date!” so, I scribbled my initials by the date, flung the book down and took the damn report. I stepped out past other people who work in her section and said, “I am tired of taking attitude from hospital staff as I simply try to do my work for the PATIENTS!!” After all, this was not MY report.

Anyway, I was quite pissed and simply glanced at the conclusion of the report, which was, “Normal study”.

I went back to the Ward, still annoyed.

Another male doctor from a different service was seeing one of our patients and making his notes. He asked me why I looked so upset. I related the story, and told him that I had to restrain myself from telling the bitch some good bombo claat! He laughed, and said that he knew only too well what I was referring to. He is a bit younger in his medical career than I am, but said he almost considered it part of the job! You see, attitude is dished out by all sorts, Medical Technologists, Radiographers, PORTERS, Pharmacists and last, but by no means least, DOCTORS and NURSES. And, I don’t mean to bash the females here, but, I find them far more willing to dish out the attitude thing that us guys. That is just my observation anyway.

It seems to me that you have to kiss ass in order to get people to do their rass jobs! Everybody is King or Queen over their little niche in the hospital. Well, just wait until you need a favour from me, when you need to be seen quickly because of some acute skin problem, and the earliest clinic date is eight weeks hence. Life has a way of being very spiteful sometimes. And boy, do we all get our due karma.

My colleague then glanced at the Ultrasound report which I still had in my hand and asked me if I hadn’t noticed that it was flawed!? I said no. He said to read through the body of it (which I said above, I had not done. I only read the conclusion because of how vexed I was at the moment that I collected it.) It described the liver, the kidneys, spleen and gallbladder as being normal in echo pattern. Then it went into the uterus neing normally anteverted and non-gravid with normal ovaries etc. Anyway, that was when I stared to smile to myself. You see, the report is for a patient of ours. And, HE is MALE!!

Having been screwed over by this little wench, I decided that I was taking this straight to my boss. If the little woman had been decent, I might just have gone back there with the report and pointed it out to them nicely, that this was a clear error. But, the report was signed, with all the patient particulars clearly typed, his name, age, sex, and registration number were there. So, I thought that some heads should roll for this. After all, this was a grave mistake.

My boss dealt with it and in no time, they aksed if we could send him back to the department to have it rectified.

Why the hell should I have to take crap from hospital staff in order to do my work? Hell, I do mine. If you are fed up with your job, den lef it rass!! Trus me, there is someone out there who will do your job, and for LESS than what you earn now!! There is no member of staff who is irreplaceable. I am tired of taking crap, and form now on, I REFUSE TO! Screw all of them.

Having got that off my chest, I am going to have a shower, and hit the sack. Night all, and don’t dish out any attitude at work tomorrow! One love. What have you to say?? (Attitude is not permitted either, it will not be tolerated! )
