All sorts of thoughts…..

Well after reading this post you may begin to wonder if I indeed think in a disjointed way. Actually, I don’t or try not to, but right now I have lots of thoughts passing through this rather complicated organ that is known as my brain.

Now, if it is one creature that I feel that God could easily have not created, its that disgusting rodent called a rat! I hate and fear them at the same time. Perhaps once every six to nine months, we seem to harbour one or two in the roof of my house. And strangely, it always seems to take up residence on the side of the house where my bedroom is.

For the past couple of nights, I have heard the scurrying, squeaking and rumbling of this beast above my head, in fact, it has awakened me from blissful sleep on more than one occasion. Honestly, from the sound of the thuds it makes in the ceiling, I don’t think I want to come face to face with it. That likke rass must be about the size of a newborn puppy!

I got thoroughly fed up, and went to True Value and got some ambrosia for it today. And, even though I am travelling tomorrow, I am now hot and sweaty after climbing up into the roof and putting the tasty tidbits up there to feed him. I’ve done it before and it works like magic. So, hopefully, when I return in about ten days, I shall not be awakened by the damn noise of this (with any luck) dead critter. Rahtid, do I hate rats! So much for that.

I must say, I almost forgot what it feels like to be on leave. (Maybe I have been working too damn long!) Waking up after eight, savouring my cup of tea ’till well after nine. Leisurely reading the newspaper while on the throne with no time frame in which to work. Having not put a razor on the scattered hairs on my face since Friday last. Eating a cooked breakfast during the week well after ten in the morning. Heading down the hill to do a few errands after eleven o’clock.

Yes, it feels nice to be on leave, it sort of reminds me of the days when I was on those wonderfully long summer holidays from high school…..when you really didn’t have one fart to do. Enough of that, if I continue to chat about it, it will make the leave pass even more quickly.

Well, it is no secret. I like travelling. Even though I am going to two cities in the US where I have been previously, I am looking forward to the trip as I will be with my sister on the first leg, and cousins (who are almost like sisters to me) at the second stop. I haven’t seen my little sis since November last year. We miss each other and are looking forward to catching up, face to face.

One problem, I have to pack….and I really dislike packing. It is one of the major drawbacks about travelling for me. And, being a single man, I have no significant other to do that for me….and please ladies, I don’t want you to go away feeling that I am insinuating that it is your responsibility to pack for your favourite guy at all. (It is just that lots of my friends who are married or in committed relationships have women who are gracious enough to do this for them.) Give thanks dudes. Naturally, the packing (and I hope to keep it LIGHT), is being left for tomorrow. You know how guys are anyway. Take the necessary only…some underwear, a couple T shirts, a pair of sneakers, a pair of jeans and maybe two pairs of shorts. And yes, I forgot about toothbrush and toiletries. Last but by no means least, Passport, Ticket, cash, credit cards. (BTW, anyone who has extra US dollars that they wish to give to a worthy cause. I will not refuse them.)

Finally, my bredren Mad Bull, the Cricket Blogger Ryan and some other Caribbean bloggers were given a ‘big up’ (commendation) in the in flight magazine of BWIA (which is based in Trinidad and Tobago). You can give the article a prips if you like by clicking this link. Congrats to them, they have gone big time for Caribbean blogging. But hear what? They completely decided to ignore the lowly blog of yours truly. Anyway, is alright, a nuh nutten. You know who is not taking BWIA when they travel tomorrow anyway. Just a joke. (Actually, I’m flying Air Jamaica. ) I get my highs out of my regular readers commenting. Thanks to you all.

That’s about it from me for a few days. I’ll certainly check in when I can while away, after all, the net is worldwide right? Make sure to keep the blog fires burning, so that in case I don’t get to check in as often as I usually do, I will have a lot of reading and commenting to make on my return to Jamdown. Until then, tek it easy nuh!

How cool! Hope you have an excellent trip. How funny you live in Jamaica and are coming to the U.S. , while many of us here want to go to Jamaica for vacation. The grass is always greener I guess. By the way, my wife makes ME do the packing because I’m pretty good at it.

HEY!!! What’s wrong with rats??? I have TWO in my bedroom! So cute… Red eyes and wormy tails, straggly brown fur and sharp sharp sharp teeth! Hope your trip is cool…Come to England! Rain! Rain rain rain rain!

Aww..you don’t like rats? Hamsters are pretty cute, but that’s a pretty big difference. Hopefully, you won’t have to smell the dead rat, rather than listen to him! Maybe if you put more booty pics on your blog, you’ll get an honorable mention, right? I hope you’re having a great trip- I’m with T-Bone on that one, getting away FROM Jamaica?

Doctors are medical consultants - always telling people what they should do. For now, that is no longer the case. I am going to tell you what to do. Have a good time!

Doc, I hope your vacation is fabulous, and I honestly hope to not see any blogs from you for two weeks. Not that I don’t love your blogs, but honestly, get away from the computer and go have some fun….

Doc, You must tell us what cities in the US you are visiting. Your stateside fans will be pissed, though to know you may be so close to us and didnt stop in for a brewski. Next year, lets trade houses for a few days. Me in sunny Jam-town and you in Ft. Worth. I’ll leave hubby’s cowboy hat and directions to the Stockyards.
