Dem a tek over…..
Well, a irie morn to all who may pass dis way. I’m a bit late but whatever….Not much by way of an earth shattering post to share but I suppose writing something is better than nothing at all.
Now all of you know that miself and Mad Bull a bredrin and bredrin (are good friends). And in many cases, we tend to become friends with people with whom we share some similarities. Yeah, my yute and I do have a lot in common and I won’t bother to bore you with these details. We also share a lot of differences as well, particularly where certain types of opinions are concerned. Well, one thing we share in common is that we both are not fond of lizards. I posted my stance with reptiles not too far back when I showed you all a picture of a rass of an iguana that has taken up residence in a tree in my cousin’s backyard in Florida.
Yesterday, Mad Bull’s post told the story of a recent encounter he had with a Caymanian posse of lizards. They sound like they are quite resilient to me.
Now, apart from lizards, we both also have a serious dislike for the critters called rats. I know that the Bull had done a very good post long time ago about these beasts and how they were creating havoc in New Kingston. Well, I read this morning that dem a tek over again to rass!
In fact, they have become such a plague that they have caused one fast food establishment to close its doors!
Now, what next? You a do business to rahtid…. you providing work for people inna you establishment, and, you haffi shet you door cause RAT a tek over you place!?? Some serious cause fe cuss two claat in my opinion.
Anyway, I hope that something will be done to exterminate the place, as I’ve seen these mofos before while sipping a rum at the Hilton’s Pool bar in the past. Trus me, they are puppy sized….and they have attitude! Fraid is a word that they know not!
That’s about it from me. Oh, I mentioned that Rufie (my sister) had a birthday yesterday. Well, it seems that after an almost four year wait, she received a nice birthday gift from Uncle Sam…..she had an interview with US Immigration yesterday and they gave her the Green Card at last!
The thumbsup is not so much for the card per se…it is saluting the fact that she can now travel as she wishes. So, I know that I will be seeing her here, at home in the not too distant future!
Hope you can find some reason to leave a comment. Lizards, rats….whatever critters you have in your corner of the woods. Try not to mek dem tek over you space, you simi? Later.

May 19th, 2004 at 2:20 pm …nope, can’t think of a reason to comment at all :^)…
May 19th, 2004 at 5:58 pm lizards are fine, rats are another thing. When i was at university in the bahamas, the dividing walls between rooms was a kind of ply. Many nights while trying to fall asleep, i’d head “scratch scratch, shuffle shuffle” only to find evidence of a rat. had to plug up the hole and buy rat poison to get rid of them. those were little….when we just reached to the uni to start our 2nd year, the grass was as high as a man. them there rats must have been the size of the New Kingston rats. bwoy, mi glad seh mi nuh eat in New kingston for fun. only at the Pegasus and that is also rarely. i always remember that person who ate a festival out at Hellshire and fall down dead, buff, because of leptospirosis in the flour that use to mek di festival.
May 19th, 2004 at 7:46 pm Yammie, since lizards are ‘fine’ I am officially inviting you to my place to attend an “Adopt The Croakerthon!” You’re welcome to have them all. Life would be so much more liveable without them around….no more of that disgusting sound that they make in the night to communicate (? meet potential mates) with each other and keep me awake, no more croaker crap left in the most inconvenient places…the shower, the face basin, on the walls. Do I hate them! Damn, if you decide to come I’ll even cook a gourmet meal for you so we could wine and dine as well…..(after you take the lizards btw!)
May 19th, 2004 at 7:56 pm i lived in Grenada with croaking lizards in my house. at first, i was scared shitless (oops, can I say that on the internet???), in fact, one night as i came in, i saw one and promptly finished the whole spray can on it, then locked up the house and went to spend the night at the hotel. then, a friend who was there with me one night, said what i goign on like that for? that they will go back out in the mornings, and if id ont trouble them, them wont trouble me. so said, so done. i use that story to illustrate to people, that all it takes is a shift in perspective for you to deal with things differently. for example, if you decide that you cant work with your boss because she/he is difficult, once you shift your perspective towards them, like how i shifted my perspective towards the croaks, you will be under less stress. is like if you and somebody have suppem, and you decide you going malice them or cut your eye after them, and are consumed by everythign they do, if you forgive yourself and dont allow yourself to be consumed by them, then you can move along and be happy. so Dr D, I implore you, when you see the croaking lizards, just say hi, how you’re doing and move right along. the lizards not paying you nuh mind. just make sure and have a good supply of bugs for them to eat. phew, this was looooooonnnnnggg
May 19th, 2004 at 8:10 pm You lucky ’bout say ‘hi’. When I am ready I will show dem lizards a quite different perspective yes. One where they don’t move and can’t see a damn ‘ting cause it soo effin dark (and yes, shitless and related words a nuh nutten inna dem corners yah!) when you dead!
May 20th, 2004 at 5:31 am Lizards don’t bother me, but then - they are something we don’t seem to have in our climate - so how could they?!
May 20th, 2004 at 6:27 pm Congrats on Rufie’s Green Card! And thank you…for the sweet b-day greetings you left me.
