Too much party las nite!
Yow!
Here wid mi cup of tea….caan seh me feel like go work still, but I have to go nevertheless. We have a radio advertisment for something called Andrew’s salts here. It is a kind of effervescent drink that you make by adding water to the crystals and it is supposed to ‘pick you up’ and get you ready to go when you have had too much to drink the night before. In it, there is a young man waking up in the morning after a nite of excess and liquor. He is complaining to his mother about the headache, his belly feeling screwed up and that he needs to sleep more. She replies (in a not very sympathetic tone)….”Too much party las nite!”
So, maybe I need some Andrew’s salts this morning, as the cup of tea hasn’t really ‘done it’ for me yet. My belly feels fine, but me could easily sleep for longer and I do have a slight headache. Anyway, when I get to work I will down two Panadols as I am completely out here at de yard.
Nevertheless, the little Thursday nite lime was irie. First stop was Pepper’s. After finishing a ‘Q’ of Appleton there with Ortho Doc, we decided to move on. The friggin Karyoke was a get to we…them never sound half way decent and in addition, they had the mic turned up so louldly that we had to be shouting at each other to chat, and we were on bar stools right next to each other. So you done know seh we cuss nuff claat and den flash.
Next stop was “Christopher’s.” I like the place!
The crowd is mature and the vibes very laid back. Christopher’s is the name of the jazz bar on the ground floor of Quad. Bucked up a heap of docta from the A&E Unit where I work….dem mussi did lock it dung las nite, nuff of de medical staff were there. So, if you were in need of urgent medical care at the hospital where I work las nite, it look like you woulda get weh de duck get!
Not true really, A&E was very much up and running. Apparently, they met up for a lime because they were saying goodbye to some staff members who were moving on to other jobs.
As I mentioned, I like the place a lot and the bartender that was dealing with us was a cool hombre. That always helps. Anyway, I towed the line and only had two there….’serve me longs’ if you like, because I was nursing them (drinking slowly) remembering that today is a regular working day.
Anyway, the woozy feeling inna mi head don’t feel as bad as when I jus got up, so maybe I will be able to function at work today….albeit a bit more slowly than usual. But, still, I caan seh I feel like going. Any of you think you could fill een for me? If you see any patients that you are unsure about what to do, I will tek call. Jus ask the hospital to get me. Trus me, they will dig a doctor outta him grave if necessary! Hear what? I better go yaw, I don’t need nuh worries pon mi hands, and courthouse is not a place where me love push de door!
Only one Gleaner article got my attention this morn. If you been reading here long enuff, you will know that I am a graduate of the Blue and White of North Street….AKA, ‘George’s’. Recently, my alma mater, which was in my time, one of the foremost high schools in the country, has been given pretty poor ratings and it seems that indiscipline is the order of the day there. I won’t bother to get into the various suggestions put forward as to why this is happening. But let’s say that it concerns the guys I went to school with (and myself as well) and we have been having a fair amount of e-mail circulated with ideas as to what we could possibly do to help the grave situation. After all, this was the place that provided us with a decent education. Well, this news item may result in more e-mail discussion on our part I’m sure. I guess we will have to wait to see if this change (depending on who fills the vacancy) will result in a turn around in the behaviour of present day blue and whiters.
Well, it’s TGIF again, so you done know. However, if I go outta road tonight, I might jus end up sipping fruit punch or suppem light like Smirnoff Ice, you seeit! Too much party las nite!
Walk good my crew.
