Muy interesante!
Well, for those readers who may not be linguistically empowered to translate dese Espanol a Ingles….the title here means, “Very interesting!” And that is what I find today’s Gleaner and Observer headlines! So, it seems as if many of the high ups inna de JLP have finally decided to dis the Don (AKA Seaga) and proceed with a meeting. I think it is a good thing.
I may not be any political analyst, but, IMHO, Mr. Seaga is a man who is now past his time, and should have handed down the party leadership gracefully, from long ago. The way I see it, even if he were to decide to do so now, he can’t do it with grace again. His continued leadership (for what it is worth) of the JLP, is phucking up the political future of this country. If you vex with me for saying so, den a jus so it go.
Don’t get me wrong…I don’t necessarily see the JLP as a glorious solution to the problems we have here in Jamdown at the moment. But, if the JLP is to stand a chance when we next go to the polls, I doubt they will even be able to float, much less swim if Eddie continues as party leader. That is essentially what frigged them in the last election.
Some people who could have made the majority vote JLP, decided to show a vote of no confidence against Seaga, and not necessarily contra the JLP as such. In so doing, they voted PNP. So, if we really wish to avoid having yet another term of office from the present regime, Seaga needs to go! I say proceed with the meeting. If Bruce is going to oust him, then a life. Brush you shoulders off, move on and mek some definite plans for the future. I wait with bated breath to hear the outcome of this meeting. You will most definitely be updated. Any comments?
Enuff of the political argument. Now, this country, despite nuff of the bad publicity that we get in the foreign press, has a lot to be proud of. Indeed, we, a poor Third World island nation of about 2.5 million people produces some of the world’s best coffee from the Blue Mountains, many lovely women who win World beauty pageants, Olympic class athletes….(even a bobsled team despite not having snow) and last but not least, the best airline to the Caribbean, three years in a row!
I could go on, and I will, as dis a one very patriotic Jamaican rude bwoy!
I read today in the Observer, that we rank as the third best place in the world to visit for your honeymoon!! First and second places being taken by Hawaii and Mexico respectively. 10…Aruba. 17… The Cayman Islands. 29…. Barbodos, and 40….Canada. Strangely, the very exotic, expensive, and supposedly exclusive island of St. Barths ranked 49 on the list of 50!
So we a seh nuff. This poll was conducted by travel agents in the USA and the results were published in the apparently influential Modern Bride magazine! Well, thanks for that, I hope it will do suppem for tourism here.
Interestingly, I have thought about where I would go for my honeymoon…. when that time of nuptial bliss comes along, and, I have always thought I would make it Jamaica. In fact, I can see mislef and Mrs. D in Portland checking een at Trident.
Any crystal ball readers out there who may be able to rub up a vision and give me an indication as to how soon that may be!? I’da like hold a prips of the bride still…..
Finally, if you read my post a few days back, I had mentioned that I had passed chru Christopher’s on Thursday nite last, and that I very much liked the vibes. Well, Chester Francis-Jackson, who is the social circuit writer for the Gleaner (if there is a social function here and him nuh feature it, apparently it naw seh nutten!
), is giving Christopher’s a thumbsup today ….mark you, I can’t compare to his verbosity.
He’s referring to Christopher’s as one of Kingston’s best kept social secrets. But onoo all know seh me buss de ’secret’ here before him. And BTW, he made quite a grave omission as he did not include Dr. D’s name on the list of socialites seen at the place!
(Lawks, me bad eh?) Anyway, you mus gie it a check when next you in town. Enjoy you Sunday, you hear? ![]()
June 27th, 2004 at 8:27 pm I’m not surprised that Hawaii is at the top of the list, but I AM surprised that Mexico beat out Jamaica. My parents used to visit Jamaica once a year when I was in my teens, and then they switched to visiting Hawaii. I guess they had the best of both worlds. I hope you had a good Sunday, Doc.
June 28th, 2004 at 7:32 am This article summarises what occurred at the JLP meeting. It seems to me to be pretty clear that other members of the party want to let Seaga go! Long overdue business dat!
