Going home

They say you can never go home again… I don’t know about never - but this is perhaps the longest I’ve been away from my homeland of Jamaica, and going home was very, very interesting for me!

In so many ways, its the same country I grew up in and left only four and a half years ago, and in so many other ways, its not!

So, after a really incredible trip, where do I start? I want to share with you all the high points and all of the low points… and having the title for being the worst blogger around, I fear that if I do not do it all at once, you’ll never hear all of the details of a great trip!

But although I have the inspiration to write immediately, I know I do not have the energy - I need sleep badly! But I think I will endeavour to do it in spurts - one high point, countered by a low point, or something like that - in some sort of chronological order… let’s see!

I’ll start with the beginning of the trip. Knowing that we were going to make this trip a combination of a vacation, seeing family and business building, we decided to start the trip with a much needed vacation. So we started out with a weekend at our all-time favorite place - Hedonism III in Runaway Bay, Jamaica!

I’m sure anyone who reads this blog has heard of Hedonism - if not, check out superclubs.com for more info! The original Hedonism (or Hedo, as we call it in JA.) is Hedonism II in Negril, JA. (despite all logical thought, there is NO Hedo I !!!) Hedonism II is legendary worldwide - it attracts people who seek what the name promises - a hedonistic lifestyle. Hedo II has been around for many years! The hoteliers, Superclubs/The Issas opened Hedo III in the last six years or so.

Having been to the original, along with almost all of the other vacation destinations in JA., I can honestly say that Hedo III is my favorite - and Midas’ too…. Because it has all of the elements of a great, wicked party, but all of the options for not really attending it either.

It is a newer hotel, so the rooms and the amenities are upgraded and lovely. The entertainment coordinators there this trip are truly the best I’ve ever seen - great job!!!! The food, oh my gosh, the food… did we ever eat!!! It is an all-inclusive resort, so all meals and drinks are included. They have a grand restaurant with a mix of Jamaican and international foods (****), an Italian restaurant (open for dinner only and you need reservations - I had lobster and shrimp as my main course - *****) and a Japanese restaurant with tepanyaki style dining - Wow!!! *****!!!)

I am a wino - I love red wine - but for this trip I drank champagne only, which not only flowed freely from all bars, but a bottle was delivered to our room each evening along with a fruit plate!!!

Listen nuh man, we had so much fun!!! The people were great, the guests there were interesting, funny, and into having a great time - you had a large number of nudists - but there is a separate ‘nude’beach and a ‘prude’ beach. Within a few hours of your arrival, you lose your inseurites and inhibitions, and get into who you really are! It has its wild side, if that’s what u want, as well as a more relaxed side - so it has something for everybody in every mood!!!

I had a great time - we had a great time! Everybody we met had a great time - I really recommend it!!!! I want to go there every quarter to unwind, relax, let my hair down and just have a good time - that was the promise we made to each other.

I want to tell u more, but am too tired tonite - I’ll try to post again tomorrow and give you more details of our favorite place on paradise!!!

Seven!! Glad to know you reached back safely. Now, Hedo seems to have made a big impression on you. I hear that while Midas was on the nude beach snapping shots of people, someone came up to him and told him he had to drop it (not the camera) if he wanted to continue! Anyway, good to see you both and we will be looking out for the next part of the post. BTW, I now have my new glasses, so I should be able to recognize you from a distance next time!
