Monday hail up….

Posted in General on February 28th, 2005 by Dr. D

I doh have much to chat about today. Yes, I did see most of the Academy awards. Didn’t really think it was all that great. Halle Berry looks nice with her long hairstyle and Beyonce sang well. Chris rock did OK, but I prefer him in his usual uninhibited state! I guess I have a few movies that I will tek een soon. So much for the Grammy’s…America’s glitz and glamour show.

Had a not too bad weekend despite the fact that I was on call. Only made two trips to the hospital…not bad.

I notice that plenty people (no names called) stop blog. Is arite, I soon follow suit as well.

Reading through the Gleaner this morning, I came across this article. I had to wonder to myself….where the backside do these women come from? Woman gave the guy a blow and kept the man seed for years? Rahtid! Reminds me of Bill and Monica where she kept the dress with the come stains? I don’t know……

Anyhow, no more rambling along. March is upon us tomorrow and so is another week at the grind today. Hope to see some more posts from the rest of you. Take care.

BBQ

Posted in General on February 26th, 2005 by Dr. D

Bwoy, I don’t know where these people learned their manners, but one would have thought that the people in the area who have lit up the barbeque and cooking some food weh smell good nuh rass, would at least think of inviting the folks in the near vicinity to sample the culinary delights from the grill! Rather than haunting them with the aroma and causing their parotid and submandibular salivary glands to go into overdrive and produce copious amounts of mouthwater! Mofos! smily My Grandfather Poppa D, would say, “Dem nuh come off a good table!” (They lack manners and breeding!)

Actually, that is just me being bad. Someone in the area (I know not who) barbequeing and it smell wikid. Nevertheless, all is not lost, I just ate some Chiney food for dinner…Pork with Muk Yee, Roast Chicken and Special Chow Choy. So there. Onoo can guweh wid onoo taste bad BBQ whatever it is. smily

Guess you can see seh is idle me idle. Not really here doing no great writing, just dropping in to hail you up and say enjoy the weekend. And, jus in case is your yard that BBQ smell coming from well…… smily …..thanks for the invi! Morrows.

Yeah man, I feeling much more with it now that Friday evening looms. Actually, as the week passed, the anti work feeling did improve, but I still did not feel much in the mood. I have completed the other stuff that was stifling my family jewels, so now man can flex easy and ting.

Furthermore, today is Pay Day, that made yesterday Lodgement Day. However, when man went to the ATM at about 1:30 PM yesterday….nutten never reach de account yet! smily I would really like to know what a gwaan at NCB. The people with Scotia accounts seem to get their funds credited before ours invariably. The hospital’s salary account is with NCB….so what are they doing with the money? Dem a tek it and put on some short term investment and mek interest before it reaches its final destination….the accounts of the people who have worked for dat rahtid?

Anyhow, I have in my briefcase four cheques drawn with today’s date for bill payment…..so dem betta doh loaf wid man money! Is bad enuff seh it look like gratuity salt for this month already! Anyhow, since I have worked there, bad as things may be in the finance department, they have never not paid us, so……let me jus cool miself…after all, is Friday. Good sense will prevail.

Anyway, I have some stuff to let off pon de crew. Now, have you ever wondered if we have any Psychopaths in our wonderful blogging crew? Personally, I don’t think so, even though I may not know all of you. Regardless, I am going to put you all to the test. Just cool yuself, is Friday, you can spare the time. I received this from a bredrin I attended high school with. Let’s say I did not get the answer correct…which means I don’t have much potential to be a Psychopath…..the yute who passed it on to me got the answer wrong also.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met this guy whom she
did not know. She thought this guy was amazing. He was so much her dream guy that she fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number
and later she could not find him. A few days later she killed her sister.
Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?

Now, think about your answer for a few minutes before clicking on ‘More’ to get to the correct answer…..

Remedy for itchy eyes…

Posted in General on February 24th, 2005 by Dr. D

Ok, I’m very late today….no fault of mine….blame the internet connection….it was having issues earlier and so I couldn’t get to any sites. Quite frankly, I think computers/the internet are like newborn babes….sneeze on dem and dem ketch cold! smily Then again, as I am no IT expert I could be wrong.

Anyway, I’m here. What’s up with the title? Well, no, I haven’t decided to change my area of specialty. What I’m going to share is very short actually. Let’s say we men seem to have sex on the brain if not all, then a hell of a lot of the time. (Yes, me have me audience now! smily )

Yesterday, while driving in to the hospital, I stop as I cross the gate to collect a Parking Pass. I overhear a conversation between the female security guard who is handing my pass to me, and another male security guard who is nearby……

Female Guard: “Me nuh know wah do me….me eye dem a scratch me!”
Male Guard: “Cho man, dat easy fe fix. You need some good sex!” smily

Female guard realizes that I heard the little chat. She starts to laugh, so do I, as well as the male guard.
Female Guard (Talking to her colleague.) : “See you all a mek the doctor laugh after me!”
Male Gaurd (Talking to me.): “Doc, she ‘friad o me you nuh. She nuh waan gimme the work!”
I drive off laughing…not a bad way to start the work day. I suppose Vit S is a cure all. Wonder what the folks down on eyes would have to say about this cure for itchy eyes? I guess the next time your eyes scratching, you can give it a try to see if it really works. It ought to be worth the effort eh!? smily

Well, this evening the Reggae Boyz go for the Gold Cup against the Cubans. I won’t be able to see it live, as I’ll be trying to bake a likkle bread in private practice. Anyway, good luck to them.

Last thought….about blog comments. Have you ever been in a situation where you read a blog post of one of your regulars….and simply cannot comment? Not because you don’t want to. You want to comment, to let them know you had passed by…but maybe the topic of the post just doesn’t grab you. And, you don’t want to make a comment that is completely out of context. That happened to me a day or two ago. Won’t say whose site…in fact…me nuh too ‘memba whose still! Anyway, I hope that won’t happen to you when you lick this post. Leave a comment, zeen…even if it is outta context. You know that I do this primarily for the feedback. Hope you been having a irie day so far!

Halfway there…

Well, I/we are halfway through the work week….I’m still looking forward to Friday evening….still don’t feel like the work thing at all. In addition, I’m swamped in some other stuff! Anyhow, I am working through it and doing what has to be done. I’m one of those people that once I commit to something, I usually give it my all….that may be a good as well as a bad approach sometimes. I feel there are times when we should learn to say no regardless of what others may think about you. Anyway……

Last night between doing this stuff that I am working through, I took een parts of the ball game between Jamaica and Bim. Well, we beat the Bajan Boyz 1:0 and have secured our spot in the Gold Cup! smily The Bajans were not to be dissed tho…they did make a few good scoring attempts. Unfortunately, seems that one of their number got a bit frus out and was awarded a red card in the second half for what seemed to be a deliberate face kick ‘gainst one of our players. smily Anyhow, was pretty good mid week entertainment.

On other news from foreign, remember that Scratchie had posted about the upcoming nuptials in the Royal family….namely Charles and the equine beauty Camilla? Well, seems that Elizabeth has decided not to attend the wedding ceremony! Oh dear. Wah fe do? I suppose time will tell what happens as the date draws nigh.

Yet another lame post. Sorry….will see what I can come up with in the days ahead. Later.

Tuesday and counting….

Posted in General on February 22nd, 2005 by Dr. D

Bwoy, I doh know what wrong wid me, but I just here living for the end of the week…..not that I going be chilling on the weekend because this is my Saturday/Sunday on call for the month. Anyway, I still looking forward to Friday.

What is there to chat ’bout today? Nada mucho. Then again, that nuh true. Some of my male readers, like Dr. J. and JDid been dropping some serious hints. Dem want to see pics of a Cuban dancer that I was priviliged to see (on stage of course) while I was at a conference in Aruba in November 2003. I guess I will post the link, it will give some of the newcomers to the site who may not know what I look like some insight. Then again, I really don’t think the rude dudes want to see me….is the chica they want to view…..not that I can blame them porque ella es muy bonita. So, Aqui lo tiene! Enjoy.

On the sporting scene, our Reggae Boyz will be playing JDid’s crew from Bim in football this evening. Bim will have the home advantage, but I’d like to think we going buss dem shirt, but let’s just say, we wish them all the best. So, I guess I have a date with the TV tonight.

That’s about it from me now…yeah….no great post. Life sometimes I suppose. Walk good and stay safe.

Monday morn….

pinkalamanda.jpg

Bwoy, I suffering from a real case of Monday blues today. Me nuh waan go work….but I have to shake that quickly as is me deh pon de rota today. Cho. Anyway, if nutten else, at least we get paid this week and gratuity is supposed to be forthcoming with the cheque. (Dem better doh romp wid man money!)

Apart from not having much get up and go to work vibes this morning, I also don’t have much to post…that is, ideas lacking. Yes, I have stuff that I could discuss, but frankly y’all may find it boring. As a sidetrack, I might mention that my post of two days ago was my thousandth….yep, this one will be number 1003. Been in the hood for a while I guess. Is a wonder I haven’t been evicted.

Rahtid, I practically forgot about the picture. Yes, took it on my last trip to Florida (I do believe we have these flowers here as well)….think that was April 2004 when I got a frequent flyer award courtesyof Air J. I wonder if they going continue with that, cause tings not looking too nice there now. Plus, seems like the low cost airlines are eventually going to get here. I’m hearing sounds that Jet Blue may soon be offering some dog cheap fares between Florida and here. Hmm.

On a sligthly different and more painful note, I think it was last week that I linked a Yahoo article about a woman who had torn off one of her man’s balls because he didn’t give her any action. Well, I don’t know…but it seems like this new emasculating species of woman is proliferating! WTF is wrong wit dese wimmin?? Anyway, rude dude is kinda to blame if you ask me….’aint no woman going tie me up as part of any lovemaking session. Hope the surgery to restore the severed dick was successful. If it will work like before is yet another question.

Anyway I did say I had little to chat about, so I gaan. Enjoy the day and week.

Lotsa thoughts……

Posted in General on February 19th, 2005 by Dr. D

Nice Saturday it is at the moment…blue skies and nice tolerable temperature…about 82 degrees F with a nice breeze. Haven’t yet mustered up the energy to get out on the road and attend to the usual pressing matters, but rather feel like vegging here in front of the screen and scribble some thoughts for you all to ponder on (or should that be over?)

Just returned from Mel’s site where she wrote a little entry dedicated to our Jamaican lady of culture, Louise Bennett, or ‘Miss Lou’ for short. I had to comment on the fact that I found it unfortunate that she no longer resides in the land of her birth. Then, that is so commonplace. When I start to think about the number of the good people that this country has produced, that I know personally who have migrated, it makes me sad. Countless numbers that I can remember since I was of school age. Family, friends….

In fact, just a few days ago at work, we were having a little discussion….myself and the women in my unit….(I’m the only male in a Full Time post on Dermatology.) At least one of them is preparing to go to the UK later this year to take on a course of study similar to what I did back in 97-98. I was giving her some of my personal experiences with England. Let’s say it wasn’t a place that I loved, but perhaps I would need to do another blog entry at another time to fully explain why.

Anyway, one of the Docs working with us is from St. Lucia. With the recent murder of our colleage from St. Vincent and other matters, she is not too thrilled with the state of Jamaica. She asked me why it is that I came back here after going to the UK? She wanted to know if another one of our colleagues plans to return home after her studies are over also. My reply to her is that this is the land of my birth…Jamaica is a place that has given me my identity. This is my country. Jamaica has also provided me with my education. Ultimately, it provided me with a medical education for very little. I feel a sense of wanting to give back to and serve MY people…not folks in some other place that I do not feel a belonging to. I went further to say that despite the fact that this country has a struggling economy, and that the wages paid here for professional work are grossly anaemic compared to those offered in the ‘First World’, and despite the fact that the Dons, Druggists and criminal elements seem to be taking over Jamaica, we all cannot leave. If all the decent citizens that this country has managed to produce flee our shores and leave the scorpions and cockroaches to wantonly breed and reproduce, then eventually there will be no place to call home. Our island will be come a den of iniquity charactersied by crime, poor manners, bad-manism, and poorly educated people. My colleague agreed with me.

Having said all of this, I am not throwing words for any of my people who have migrated. I am sure that those of you who made that decision, thought it out carefully, and for many of you, were things here different, you might still be living at yard. Anyway, I have said what I wanted to. Yes, I am a proud citizen and product of this country. I am definitely not happy with all that is going on here in Jamaica, but I still have to hope that in time some good can come out of much of what seems wrong, confused and amiss here at home. Let’s all say a little prayer for Jamaica….NOW…as you read this little blog. Not tonight when you are going to bed or tomorrow when you go to church. Thank you.

What plans do you have for the weekend? Right now, I’m adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach. No definite plans. In local news, I suppose you may have heard that we have been having bush (brush as the Yanks say) fires in St. Elizabeth where lots of our produce is grown. That is a bit sad. Agricluture in St. Bess and other parts of the island did suffer quite a bit after hurricane Ivan. It sent the price of produce soaring….apparently there was even some price gouging taking place. In the last month or so, the crops recovered with a bounty of tomatoes, escallion etc. The prices for veggies now are at rock bottom….tomatoes in particular are large and dog cheap. I’m sure that these fires are going to causes prices to rocket again. If the authorites can’t put out the fires perhaps the Almighty can provide some good rains.

Friday ‘Art’…

Posted in General on February 18th, 2005 by Dr. D

Well, just in case you forgot, another work week is drawing to a close…its time to relax, unwind, tip back a few and share some good times…its TGIF! Actually, I’m a bit up the creek for a topic so I really here just rambling along. Last night, the policeman who let me off the speeding ticket did not show at private practice…I guess I have to give him time. Reached home after eight last nite, blogged for a while but I really did not linger here too much. Tiyad.

Now I here downing some breakfast, and thinking about a blog post. I feel a bit guilty not writing nutten, y’all so damn regular, plus, I miss the comments when I come home if I don’t write suppem.

Still finding nought, I decided to check Yahoo Oddly Enough again. Well, they did not fail me. OK. Now, its a well known thing that males like the female form. It is something that men like to look at while having a drink. Yes, I’m talking ’bout strip clubs….them nite spots that guys check for entertainment. Yeah, some women don’t understand why…but that’s a different topic. Perhaps that can be addressed in another post…or why not…how about addressing it comments. Why is it that some women frown on men going to a strip club?

Anyway, I saw an article about a club that has managed to circumvent anti nudity laws in the US, and I thought it a novel idea. The go go (strip) club has managed to lure patrons there on particular nights that they deem as “Art” nights. On these nights, the men are provided with pencils and paper and they draw the girls who are allowed to take it all off….’cause its just art!? smily Here’s the story in case you think is lie me telling! So far, so good. Police naw hassle dem.

So, ladies, if your favourite rude dude suddenly takes up ‘art’, don’t be surprised, it may just become that latest craze in male entertainment! I wonder if I going be sketching any pencil figures tonight miself….hmm…after all, its Friday! smily Whatever you do, have a good one and enjoy your weekend. Me gone.

The pills….

….rahtid! smily I just looked at my hits and realized that nuff people been coming to de site, my hits been almost doubed in the last four to five days. So, I started to feel irie…thinking that maybe my readership has increased, then again, I can’t say it is being reflected in a much larger than usual number of comments. So, I looked at the referrals. Guess what is sending people here in droves? I guess nuff people out dere a look fe a Rx for FUKITOL! What a ting eh? I would never have thought.
