Hi Dr. D. Well my business has been affected by the rise in fuel costs. Lots of my customers who used to be open their greenhouses during the winter months, remember these folks use fuel to heat their greenhouses, opted for the past three years not to open some of their greenhouses-hence not ordering tropical plants. Plus, they are charged a fuel surcharge on top of their freight bill sometimes as much as 120%. Everything is passed along to the consumer.

Why is it that every time the thought of raising revenue comes to government mind it’s the car drivers that get the brunt of it. “We need more money, OK raise cost of licence, We need more money, OK raise import duty on cars, we need more money, OK implement a toll road system, We need more money, OK raise gas prices, We need more money, OK add GCT to petrol (which is already subject to a million and one other taxes). Omar need to go play with himself and stop getting him kicks off consumer misery.

And so it goes again my friend…every time the gov’t in some sort of deficit because of their own damn mismanagement of funds, is we poor people get stuck with the s*itty end of the stick! Don’t feel bad, Jamaica isn’t the only place that stuff like that happens still.

Dr. D. correction on the fuel surcharge-can be up to 20% not 120%
  5. Dr. D. Says:

Now heres the thing… You said blogging is on the low, but last night I saw a post at all the cariblogger sites I visited, and I didn’t leave out many. What is it that you want? You cannot satisfy or wha’? Next, you is a seasoned blogger. You have to take the charge to the people dem. Lead from the front and all that kind of thing. In times like these, you could come up with a competition or a meme to keep the blog fires burning. Remember the excitement you kick up with talk of sending people pictures of yourself inna your boxers? You never did send it out, huh? Well, come up with a competition where the best short story/blog post wins and thats the prize (a picture of you in your boxers). Thats sure to get the blog fires stoked, am I right ladies?

Come Doc, be all you can be! Wasn’t there a famous quote that went something like “And a Doctor shall lead them!”?

  8. M.B. Says:
Hey, you could also run a competition where whoever comes up with some creative (i.e. non-GCT pon gas) ways for the Gov’t to raise funds and whoever comes up with the best ideas you send pics of you in boxers too! Just think? You could end up saving the entire Jamaican motoring public!
  9. Dr. J Says:
    Omar Davies = fassy.
  10. Kreuger Says:
Doc, you are right that we shouldn’t be surprised at the finance minister’s warning about a possible gas tax. Of course, while he is keen to implement that, he has every excuse as to why Capital gains should not be taxed, nor the income tax threshold be increased. And to make things worst, he has conveniently forgotten that he was the one who orchestrated this mountain of debt that we are being crushed under. Do you remember the speech he gave at Meadowbrook high school in 2004 where he boasted that he deliberately allowed the debt to increase in order to facilitate his party’s victory at the polls. The nerve of the damn man makes me sick!!
  11. Dr. D. Says:
Yes Kruger, now that you mention it, I do recall. Do you also remember the time when he boasted to the nation about how well he was doing his job as Minister of Finance and that no one could do it as well as he could? Arrogant fassy as Dr. J. called him!
