Pop a pill….

Hail all crew. Had nutten much to write about this morning, so went in search of blog fodder. Came across a trivial little post at Yahoo Oddly Enough. Now, I am one who enjoys my cup of tea every morning. If you have been reading here long enough, you might recall my favourite is Earl Grey. I try not to have Earl Grey routinely though…..and save it for when I have time to enjoy it. Nevertheless, my cup of tea does help to get me moving in preparation for the day. I doubt very much that I would be willing to forfeit my cuppa tea, for a tea pill!

Seeing that little article made me think about modern day life. People are busy trying to make a living…or doing whatever it is that consumes their time. So, if we are not careful, we may well get caught in the pill popping frenzy. Watch the infomercials….there are pills for weight loss, pills to help you sleep, pills to make you build muscle, pills to help out dudes who aren’t ’standing firm’, pills to help you let off less gas….. Is it not possible that in twenty years, your ‘dinner’ could easily be a number of pills presented to you on a plate, with a glass of water….and in two minutes, you done swallow!? smily Not a belch? I think I will stick with what I’m accustomed to.

Anyway, let me end this rather stupid post with a statement and then a question. Now, in the last week or so, I have started myself on Vitamins, so in the mornings, I take a gramme of Vit C (effervescent) and a Multibionta with breakfast. I did this because I noticed that I have been feeling a bit tiyad recently…probably lack of exercise …..but anyway, I feel better since starting to take them (is that mind over matter)…..Other than that, I don’t consider myself a pill popper at all. I will take some Panadol for the occasional headache, but other than that, I man haffi feel well frig up to be taking medications. What of you? On average, how many pills do you swallow let’s say in a week? Just curious….a method to get you all chatty and involved.

And, lest I forget (head not as good as it used to be! smily )….the Easter holidays are approaching. Have a few buns and ting here already, as well as some snappers. Need a bit more cheese. You all make sure to enjoy it. Tek it easy.

Hi Dr. D. I won’t go into howmany pills I take-but it’s for high blood pressure and thyroids. I also take the 3-Omega Oils. Anyway, I take too many but need them all. I understand that “Garden Of Life” brand is excellent. My girlfriend who has arthritis in the knees takes that brand and the name of the pill is FYI. Her pain has gone but the deformity in the knees still exists. I’m going to try the that since I have arthrities in the fingers and also the multivitamin which I’m not taking now. Actaully, I also need a Calcium supplement. Man, ole age is a Ra$$. Now unno know dat me love mi food, so I know I’m not going to be one of those that pop pills instead of actual food. If I cyan eat me food-may as well just nail up de coffin. Have a great day.

    # ov pills = 0. Praise God! Ah heard that many vitamins have colloidal silver as part ov their base, which could increase de mercury level in one’s diet, so ah try to get all mi nutrients from food–a lot ov fortified cereal, juices, etc., an’ a lot ov fish, fruit an’ vegetables (also antioxidants from green tea).

Like you I’ve got to be down and out before the pill popping starts. Seem to be taking more Panadol than anything these days especially when the school work tax the brain.

Interesting question - i have a family-member who shall remain nameless - Both he and his wife are pill-poppers like you’d never believe - actually, they’re just fanatic about natural alternatives, be it a pill, a drink, a machine - whatever… Recently, Midas was sick with what was probably a strep throat or something like that. Since the wife in this medicare duo is in the health industry, she recommended a concoction to help - antibiotics coupled with not one, not two but FOUR - EIGHT caplets of ESTER C(1000mg). WHAT????????? I asked… The answer - one should take as much vitamin C as one’s body can bear before an onset of diarrhea!!! They can take 10 caplets before diarrhea, so thatis their daily dose!!! OK - I only had two questions… WTF would anyone take 10 caplets of ANYTHING????? and WTdoubleF would anyone want to take so many vitamins it brought on diarrhea???????????????? The answer - its good for you…. Seeing as Midas and I just watched an entire news segment on yoga classes for your dog and you, including yoga poses for your pooch along with breathing excercises - I know quite certainly that the world has gone quite mad!!!

Sev, I am with you. The fanatics take it to an extreme. I know of folks who swallow up to 20 pills per day to ‘cleanse’ the body and enhance the immune system and all that crap. Good for them. I’ve never heard of diarrhoea being good for anyone.

Well, I have admit that I have recently joined the masses of the pill takers….they are all doctor prescribe though and definitely should enhance my life. (Blood pressure, acid reflux etc) The only natural medication that I take is Omega 3. It help your heart, your skin and most importantly for me presently with the winter blues….At the moment I take 6 different tablets every day. Then we add the nasal spray for allergies on windy days and the Advil or sometimes stronger for the sinus headache that comes with the wind.
