I Could’ve Been There!
I can easily imagine the scene! I have been to the tax office at Constant Spring Road all too often, and I know that this is the Tax Office that most of my friends and compadres visit. Possibly they get there first thing in the morning like I try to do. It just works out better, you know, because at that time, the crowds haven’t yet built up, so its easier to find parking, and also, you can get through with your business inside the Tax Office that much quicker…
Now imagine, Friday morning gone at the Tax Office, a man attacked a tax office worker. Now, even though they (Tax Office workers, and gov’t. employees in general) can be infuriating, I cannot condone what this man did! No one could! What he did was simply beyond the pale! The man poured a bucket of acid over the woman! Can you believe it? At the Constant Spring Tax Office! People, I could have been there! Any of my friends could have been there… in fact, if I start calling around, I might well find out that one of my friends was there! Or maybe, they were on the scene right after!
The crime and lawlessness in Jamaica was once the preserve of the ghetto… I mean, every now and then, someone we knew would feel the lash of the evil ones, but most of us felt that those who were from our neighbourhoods who were stung were probably “mixed up” in some wickedness. Well, now, no one is safe, anywhere. This shyte is there menacing us, all the time, where ever we are! Its time we got up off our butts and acted! We have got to start fighting back, anyway we know how!
As for the poor Tax Office worker, she went off to hospital, probably to a life of horrible disfigurement. What of the man who did this to her? Him rassclaat dead! The people who saw what he did gave chase, cornered him and beat him to death. I don’t know how long it took, but I am sure it wasn’t long enough! I am only sorry that I wasn’t there to help put on some licks on the bastard, and that we can’t bring the man back to life and then beat him to death all over again, at least five times or so! ![]()
June 13th, 2005 at 1:42 pm Hi Mr. Man- I hear you loud and clear about the crime escalating and threatening ever walk of life in Ja. I blogged about this last week after learning of those two murders. What is going on? Can you tell me what is being done? Is that new Police Chief doing anything? What with these contract killings. How are we going to fight back without that threat to not so much mine since I live in the USA, but you folks that have to live under those conditions. It’s more than sad. To have politicians and Dons commesurating is sickening. That tells me just how corrupt those politicians are. They have sold the rest of us out. Every dog has his day, and those that live by the sword shall die by the sword. God Bless Jamaica.
June 13th, 2005 at 6:51 pm OMG,that is so horrible! How easy is it to get acid anyway? That woman must be in some unbearable pain and then have to face a life of disfigurement.
June 14th, 2005 at 8:27 pm Bwoy, it doesn’t seem to be too hard to get, because this sort of thing is not uncommon. I seem to remember the Doc. telling me of one of his doctor bredrin whose g/f doused him too… its a terrible thing, a terrible thing…
June 15th, 2005 at 8:44 am I understand that this was not just a ‘random’ affair. The douser was in fact her husband who she had left previously. (Does not in any way make his action right!) He used to work at a battery company, hence his access to acid. When I heard about it I first thought it was the random act of some mentally deranged person. She is in hospital at UWI hear….not sure how bad she is, but I imagine scarring is a must. As for that Doc who had a similar incident, I am not sure if any charges were pressed ‘gainst the girlfriend..apparently that story is quite complex…still does not make her right. As I had mentioned long ago, she is quite a looker (I am informed)…still have not seen her…I jus waan know wah she look like so if she rest a East…I walk West. Damn mad rasses!
June 16th, 2005 at 11:51 am acid is used in the battery industry as well as radiator repairs so it not difficult to find… Swift justice. The entire incident was preventable but the fassies called police were ever absent as usual. they were called before the incident and arrived long after it occurred.
June 16th, 2005 at 5:07 pm And the C. Spring Plolice Station is a mere 3-400 yards from the Tax Office!
