Sunday thoughts….

Well, I know many of you who usually come by this way may not prips this until tomorrow, but here I am putting a few thoughts down on ‘paper’…. (more the net really).

First of all, happy to report that the Bleaching talk went fine on Saturday morning. (Yes, I know, I still have not yet shared the thoughts with you all….I will make it a promise for the week coming which should see me not under too much pressure for time etc.) Then again, that’s the plan, but one never knows wah kinda shyte a lurk ’round the corner. I left the yard about 8:10 on Saturday morning to do the talk. I was speaker number two for the morning. Was supposed to be number three, but the original number two apparently got her circuits screwed up and went to the wrong venue, so they fitted her in later when she got her bearings. I never had many questions thrown my way. Basically, people found the talk not only enlightening, but entertaining.

On that note, mek me ask onoo a question. I not sure how many of you actually do talks on a regular basis. But, inna dis yah time and age, can you believe that there was a presenter who basically stood up and READ from a typed presentation!? No, she never use nuh Powerpoint. No, she had no overhead transparencies (outmoded nowadays anyway). Now, not only was her talk boring, but she went overtime by almost ten minutes. The audience was for the most part sleeping. Anyway, I guess everybody have dem ways.

Starting out early for that I finished with the rest of Saturday clear! Nil, nada pressing pon mi ass…nutten that really NEEDS to be done. At last. Sigh of relief. So, I left the venue by 10:30 and passed by the supermarket and reached back to yard. Decided that I would rustle up a pasta for dinner. Bought the fish and some other ingredients at the supermarket and chilled at the yard. Seasoned up the fish and held a likkle snooze after having two Tastee chicken patty for mi lunch. BTW, is $50 for a chicken patty now….$40 fe beef.

Later in the evening, I started to blast some music CDs on my mini set on the patio. Roped een a crew and we killed the pasta and some spirit till way after 11 last night. Good going. Nice when man can enjoy the comforts of yard. You go wuk everyday and sometimes is months pass that I doh know what the back yard look like.

I just realized that I have completely forgotten to look into the night sky for Mars….so I will do so later tonight. Jamdown Canadian supposed to have a big mofo of a binoculars, so I going check him for a look see.

Today I am on call, need to pass by the hospital after I hol fresh number two for the day to make a slight adjustment to a patient regime…no biggie really. It is all part of the work. Speaking of which, I cuss some bad wud when I received my payslip Friday you see. We have had the number of staff taking call on our Unit reduced from four to three. As a result, we are doing more duty days per month than previously. Yes, it means more money. But I tell you, dem fassys a chop dem cut outta it. If I tell you how much me pay fe Income Tax dah month yah! One o mi bredrin claim seh me a wuk fe PJ and Omar! Bwoy, I tell you, every way man turn, dem squeeze you balls! PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is a dutty likkle —-claat (insert you favourite!) smily

Last but not least, what a beast hurricane Katrina has become…Category 5 to rahtid with winds up to 165 mph. Respec due. I hope dem folks in New Orleans and the vicinity have evacuated and battened down. My birth month, September, starts Thursday and my birthday is the 10th. Last years was salt. Rufie came for it and nutten did gwaan but nuff rass breeze sake of Ivan. I keeping all appendages crossed that we shall not have a repeat performance this year when I hit forty and two! Thanking the Lord God that He has spared me this long. There are very few gurantees in life and I never knew I would have got this far. Doh read me wrong, I not ready to get bowled outta de innings yet (yes Yamfoot, the Doc actually using a cricket analogy! smily ), there’s still plenty more inna dis ting called life that I can and would like to experience. And there is lots that I have already done that I have no issues repeating! smily You all enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and the week to come.

Hi Dr. D. Glad to hear the talk went well, and I know yours was interesting and not boring. I found my problem in school were boring teachers. Anyway, you sounded as if you had fun with your crew. Wished I had friends that lived closer cause there is nothing called spotaenaity getogethers where I live. Have a great day.

Sponatneous links…Sunny, one of the reasons why I am still here. Another reason why one of me bredrins Jamdown Canadian, who used to live in TDot returned home about five years ago. Him seh to go play dominoes with a crew in winter was a 3 hour drive each way. Just to contemplate the cold was a deterrent sometimes. Furthermore, when you haffi drive three hours each way, drinking is outta de question!

They Katrina has the potnetial to make as many as a million homeless in New Orleans - that is one bad huricane. Beef patty is now $40? When there is patty inflation thats when you know everybody’s wage needs to go up.

Chuh. The income tax whey come out of my pay every month can tek make smady else paycheck tuh rahtid. As for Katrina… dying to get back in front of CNN when I get home. As much as I despise American TV, I have to say that watching it like this is making me really feel it for those poor people. Cos I know what it’s like to have your … well, your entire country devastated… *sigh* Hope there are minimal fatalities this time around. Pissin me off tho - them keep comparin it Hurricane Camille of 1969 and have people calling me and teasing me seh if is soh mi haaad. chuh.
