">I’ve been Jerked!
Yes people, yet another week at the grind has come around. But fret not. This too shall pass. I spent this last weekend arite. In particular yesterday. Drove out of the yard with the two rude yutes that were accompanying me on the Portland run at about 11:15 AM. Nice day, cool weather and for the most part clear blue skies. The road was bad in parts, but not as bad as I had expected. Since I was in Pops’ 4WD, I could see the potholes better from the higher vantage point than I would have in the Integra, which is pretty low. So, me never drop inna no major abyss. Stopped at Blueberry Hill outside of Buff Bay on the way. Was a bit early then, so no Jerk Pork was ready. Not a problem. We will get some of the Jerked swine on the return leg. Guzzle down three Red Stripe and before heading off, drained the tools of excess liquid.
Reached Port Antonio at about 1:20 PM and found our destination easily. Seems as if rain was a fall the night before as the ground did well muddy. Nevertheless, headed to the bar for more Stripe, and then to the soup stop. Man, the crayfish soup was irie. I had two cups of that before testing the Jerk there. Wasn’t bad, but still not as good as Blueberry….anyway.
Later in the afternoon, we converted to rum…chased with fresh coconut water from the husk…..sweet. Unfortunately, the eye candy at that location was nutten near enuff to give a man a cavity, so I decided to move on for a pass through the beach at Frenchman’s Cove. Place looked nice and lush as usual. The beach had mostly tourists there and again, eye candy seemed rationed.
So, after downing a few more beers we moved on up to San San to make a quick visit at the home of two medics I know. Shot the breeze there for about an hour, by which time it was essentially starting to get dusky….time to make the return leg.
So, we headed back. Stopped again at Blueberry, got more jerk, had some on site and of course purchased enough to carry to de yard. Made it back home just after eight.
In summary, good day getting out of City Kingston, nice country drive, nuff jerkings and lika. I guess man can gwaan a de work this morning with some sorta renewed vitality. Have a good week you hear.

December 5th, 2005 at 8:31 pm Portland sounds as beautiful as it was when I lived there briefly in my youth. It was lush and beautiful like one would imagine Eden to be. The people were very kind and helpful. I hope to go back there one day. Dr. D: I don’t want to sound like a school marm, but were you taking in all those drinks and driving? Your post reminded me of one time when I went home and had to go into town with my cousin who himself had been abroad for a while. Every few miles he’d stop and go into rum bar to greet and be greeted by his old friends. Next thing I knew him blackup and his eyes became red. After a while me ketch me fraid and was grateful when we got home safely. But for the rest of the trip, I avoided riding in any vehicle he was driving. Be careful.
December 5th, 2005 at 9:10 pm Hi Pauline, Thanks for the concern….but….one beer on the way….one beer and one rum at the venue. One beer at the beach. Stretched out over a period of maybe four hours. Believe me, I was as lucid as I could be….I know my limitations…and if I thought that I was unable to drive I would ask one of my friends to take the wheel. They might have had just about the same amount as I did…we are not into the drinking ’till eyes red, vomiting and cyaan drive thing at all.
December 5th, 2005 at 10:14 pm Good that you had fun, Doc.
