All about nutten…

Posted in General on January 30th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, after a pretty decent weekend, it is back to work for most of us. What amazes me is how quickly January has passed us by. Seems it was yesterday that all the business associated with the Christmas holidays was a gwaan.

I tell you, Friday night inna de early hours….say 6-10 PM, some rass breeeze was a blow in the area. So much so that when I was leaving the yard at about 8:30 to link up the crew, I had to shut the little top windows. Wind was all a howl…..for a moment I was beginning to wonder if we were having some freak storm or shyte inna January. Anyway, it died down after 10 and the rest of the weekend was pretty decent temperature wise….in the 70s. When I looked out on the patio on Saturday morning…..whole heap o leaves, dust and I couldn’t stand the site of the place, so off on a dusting and sweeping I went. Now, yeah, I am definitely one o dem man who nuh love wear plenty clothes when in mi casa….so there I am in boxers and no shirt trying to clean up the place when me start scratch…nuh more friggin cowitch to rass! smily I had to run for more Prurix lotion and put on a shirt and track suit bottom or I would not have been able to clean up the place in peace.

This weekend, a number of Kingstonians seemed to have trekked to MoBay for the Jazz Festival. I was pretty amazed at how many free parking spaces were available in Manor Park when I hit the supermarket on Saturday. In addition, there was a bit of a reduction in traffic as well (did anyone else notice this?)…no complaint by me. Nevertheless, it seems that of the motorists that were left behind, a number of them apparently had signed contracts to duss out me and mi cyar! I tell you, is nuff near miss me had on the weekend here, sake of some mophuckers who just cannot drive! Is a good thing I have no ‘nine…..or plenty o dem bad driving crew woulda hol some shot!! There was one female in particular who while reversing in the plaza, thought it a perfect time to be looking in front of her while chatting away on the bloodcleat cell phone. Is a good thing I saw what was happening or I would have a lovely lick in the bonnet of my cyar from a monster SUV today. Eediat!

Anyhow, as you may have surmised by now, I don’t have much to share…let me finish my grub and head to that place where we all have quiet moments before heading up to the hospital. I plan to try to walk this evening. You have a reasonable day and week and keep it cool, zeen.

Blog block

Posted in General on January 27th, 2006 by Dr. D

OK, I am here having breakfast…..if you care to know what breakfast is….a chicken sandwich…with whole wheat bread of course, fruit…cantaloupe (?sp), fuji apple and some strawberries….orange juice. Otherwise, I cyaan really think of nutten bloggable. Maybe I running outta ideas which may be an indication that the lifespan of this site is near its end…who knows? smily I could do one of my ‘deep thinking’ posts…but I haven’t done any deep thinking recently. Life has basically been nutten but go work fe try earn a breads in order to survive, deal with the eventualities and get een some R & R, which pretty much involves liming with bredrins over juice….not that anything wrong with that still….. So, since nutten much a gwaan, I will leave you by saying, TGIF, have a rass of a weekend! smily

Hail up…

Posted in General on January 26th, 2006 by Dr. D

Bwoy, not a lot on man plate that is bloggable right now. Tuesday, some major shyte took place at the work. No, none of our patients died….is some serious administrative omissions that affected ME personally…but I naw get into nuh details. Let’s just say that people should do their jobs properly. Anyhow, it is more or less sorted out. Because of the foolishness that was a gwaan, I didn’t feel the post urge Tuesday night. Actually, I did the man thing and decided to have a few with Jamdown Canadian at his yard and told him the little story. Cho…whatever.

What else a gwaan? Well, the temperature has fallen a bit here last night. Drew out my blanket again. Was about 72 Farenheit here last night. Yeah, dat cool by local standards. I suspect that all the folks who will be trekking to MoBay from today for the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival had better make sure them have warm clothing. I know Sunshine is here to tek it een. She called me yesterday but unfortunately, I was unable to labrish as I was right inna de middle of a sterile proceedure…actually had to ask someone else to hold the cell phone for me. Sorry Sunny. It doh look like we linking this trip as I know you won’t be in Kingston. And I don’t have the phone number where you are staying. Anodda time.

Apart from that, one of mi bona fide bredrins, Doc. Spanish will be arriving from Florida today. Haven’t seen my yute since June last year..so we have some catching up fe do. Looking forward to the weekend as usual…..

That’s about it for now…..Those of you going Jazz Festival…enjoy it. More time.

Bunning herb….

Posted in General on January 24th, 2006 by Dr. D

No, I am not stoned on some high grade…dat shyte is not my style. Anyway, I not lingering, I did a peice of oversleeping dis morning…guess my body was a bawl out fe rest…when I awakened earlier and looked at my bedside clock it was all of 7:40 AM! smily So I am here rushing the cuppa Earl Grey and about to hog down some breakfast before heading to the cuarto de bano. Anyway, I have a likkle joke to let off on y’all. Mek we see if de rude yute Mad Bull a go try bad up dis yah one. Here goes…

A monkey is sitting in a tree smoking a spliff when a lizard walks past, looks up and says to the monkey, “Wha gwaan?” The monkey says, “Yu wan some?.” So the lizard climbs up and sits next to the monkey and they burn the herb. After a while the lizard says his mouth is ‘dry’ and that he’s
going to get a drink from the river. The lizard climbs down the tree, goes to the river and leans over to get his drink. Well, the lizard is so high that he leans too far over, and falls into the river.

A Crocodile sees this and
swims over to the lizard, helping him to the side, then asks, “What’s the matter
with you?” The lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting in a tree
smoking a spliff with a monkey and got too stoned, which caused him to fall into the river while taking a drink. The crocodile says he’s got to check this monkey out and walks off, where he finds the tree and the monkey is still sitting and puffing on his joint. He looks up and says “Hey you! The Monkey looks down and says, “A wah de Bloodclaat dis?!……A how much water you drink?!!”smily

Peace.

Back to work….

Well, don’t judge nutten by the title, I haven’t been on any holiday from work. And, even though a weekend jus done, I was mucho at work as it was my turn to take call. Friday was a ruff day at work peeps. In fact, one of my Friday crew linked me on the cell for some advice on a matter, trus me, I couldn’t even think straight. In retrospect I was pretty abrupt with him on the phone……At the time he called I had three patients in front of me, two of whom required admission….then there was this other patient who I was decent enough to squeeze into the clinic and the relative who accompanied her was a beat up him rass gums about how long dem haffi wait to get seen. I didn’t even give him the time of day……(had they taken the referral to the appointments office, they would probably have been given a date to be seen two months hence!) Now don’t get me wrong, I try not to keep patients waiting, but, not everyone can be properly sorted out in ten minutes…zimi? When I told them that I would see the patient the same day, they were grateful….but I did mention that the clinic was bursting at the seams, and that they would have to wait. Yet still, the man still a gwaan wid him crap. Anyway…..

Did what I needed to do, admitted two and left the hallowed halls of the place at about 6:45 PM. Having had a rough day, I man did well thirsty….trus me.

Reached home after seven due to traffic and had dinner…gungo peas soup wid ham bone. Called up the crew…including the one who had called earlier for advice…..I apologized for sounding so abrupt indicating that he called me when work pressha was a hol me. He said it was no problema….sometimes when he is in the same situation, same thing applies.

Decisions were made about where we would knock glasses, and we ended up at a bredrin’s yard….same one who had the bashment 40th birthday session in November last year. One drink led to another, and as time passed, argument got sweet and man dem got mellow. At about 11:30 PM we decided to move on and headed for a newish place in New Kingston called Verandah’s. Not bad. Outdoors drinking spot…apparently targeting the ‘upscale’ market…..hmmm…since when me form part o dat crowd? smily It is located on Trafalgar Road…..on the Pulse compound. A sit and shoot the breeze place while tipping back your favourite liquid poison.

Now, our waitress for the evening was a well irie looking dawta! smily Let’s call her T. Nice hazel brown eyes, shapely and lovely voice, personality and smile. When she returned with our drink order…Doc started to put argument to her. Eventually, we got into a likkle discussion and she asked me what I do. So, I told her. Her next question was….do you know Dr. B? My response…sure…we were in the same medical class. Why do you ask? T replies….he is my brother! So, I told her how small the world is, and now that she mentions it, I do see the resemblance. Told her to hail him up and that I would definitely be back there.

The place is a bit different in that they do not serve a Q of liquor in a Q bottle at all…they serve it in some nice looking carafes….guess it adds a nice touch. The lika prices pretty reasonable as well. Apparently they will soon have food as well…Italian according to T. (I did return Saturday nite, pretty late btw.)

All told it was a good Friday night and we called it quits at about 2 AM.

Rest of the weekend was busy but got in time for some R & R as well.

It is the start of a new week today….payday is around the corner…..actually, me not even know what me working for yet, as I have not seen the new contract. Anyhow, it cyaan be less dan last year salary…so we shall see. Only on call one day this week, so it should be all good. Have a nice week, you hear?

">Friday again!

Posted in General on January 20th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, it is the day of the week that I live for! Even though this is my weekend on call, it nuh matter. Is still the beginning of a weekend. This week here been pretty busy, so I am looking forward to kicking back and chilling a bit. (Will fit my hospital duties in between the chillin somehow….really, is more like the other way round…but whatever). The weather here continues to be cool, specially at nights. I have no complaints.

Earlier in the week, myself and Scratchie had made some politricks posts. Well, sometimes the politicians are so screwed up that peeps jus tek dem and mek joke.

Be warned, the link below is not suppem that you might waan prips at the office if the people that you work with are prudish. Yes, is rude bwoy and rude gyal bizniz. A little suppem to help you start the weekend right.

More bang for your buck….

Posted in General on January 19th, 2006 by Dr. D

OK, is a long time since I mek two post in one day. Recently, it seems as if Mad Bull feel seh him is the only man inna dem parts who can tell joke. Well, hear wah? We going see if we can chage dat inna 2006. So, here goes…..have a laff on Doc!

Once there was a prostitute who had three different rates based on the following three conditions:

1) $100.00 to do it on the grass.
2) $200.00 to do it on a couch.
3) $300.00 to do it in the bed.

In the morning a British bloke walks in and slaps a $100 note on the table. So they went out and did it on the grass.

Soon, an American fellow walks in and slaps a $200 note on the table. So they head for the couch and did it there.

About the end of the day, a Jamaican man walks in and slaps $300 on the table. Happy from seeing the money the prostitute says,
“Wow,…you have class”.

The Jamaican responds, “Class mi rass … three times pon the grass.”

Mucho ocupado!

Posted in General on January 19th, 2006 by Dr. D

Bwoy, I am here making a little entry to apologize for my abesnce this week but I have been mucho ocupado…with work, and meetings and shyte. So, unfortunately I really haven’t had the time to blog anything worthwhile. Actually, I did have something that I thought would have made good posting fodder but I cannot for the life of me remember to rahtid what it was! CRAFT at work again! smily smily

Unfortunately, we lost a patient at work last week….I won’t get into details, but the man was sick bad.

On another note, is it just me, or is time flying faster nowadays!? Cyaan believe seh January soon rass done! Hope all those changes and plans that you have for ‘06 are coming to fruition and starting to take shape. One of mine is to change the car. Made an enquiry into the cost of a 03-04 RSX yesterday…..it may be able to work…..we shall see. Ting is, me is a man nuh like borrow money from bank at all……. Yow, Mad Bull, let off a seven hundred G pon a bredrin nuh! How you stay bad so? After you a mek dem whole heap a CI$ to backside! smily

Anyhow, I gone. Hopefully I will have suppem better to post about as the week comes to a close.

Chilly Monday

Posted in General on January 16th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, I had a pretty good weekend. Plenty of social activities and ting. Got my car back from the shop on Friday morning and it seems arite. Bill was better than I had predicted as well. Thank God for small mercies.

What else is there to report? Well, its pretty chilly by local standards here this morning as the temperature fell last night due to the passage of a cold front. I’d estimate that it is something like 68-70 degrees Farenheit at the moment. Yes, I know to all you snowbirds that that sort of temperature is heat. But everything is relative. I had to take the blanket out last night as a chilly breeze was coming in through the top window which I had to close eventually. It is nice weather though. Will be able to save some gas while driving to work this morning…won’t need any AC.

The race for the leadership of the PNP is now on in earnest. Yesterday Comrade Peter Phillips had his bashment. Of course, the usual promises of more jobs, reduction in crime and bullcrap that typifies political campaigns did let off. Still, I sort of have a feeling seh Phillips have the edge over Portia and Omar. On the other side of the fence, I think that the opposition JLP is looking (for want of better word(s)) impotent to rass! Seems we may well have the ruling party in for yet a fourth term. I think is time we legislate that no party can rule for more than two terms. What you locals feel? Anyhow, I naw linger too much ’bout local politricks. I will leave Scratchie to tek it on. And, I see he has! Enjoy the cool weather and have a good day at the grind.

A few things about this Friday

Posted in General on January 13th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, today is Friday the thirteenth of January, 2006. For those of you who are superstitious….well maybe you should just stay home. (I could easily do with the rest still.)

This morning I am to collect my car after having had the cylinder head gasket issue dealt with….hope this is it…time fe look about sell dat rass soon!

After picking the wheels up, then I have to press it up to work. Later in the day (round about lunch time) am to call the private office as dem supposed fe have a cheque fe me….account need some resus still….hopefully it will be there. Then will flash to the bank and mek a quick lodgement…no line. Nyam suppem for lunch and then head back to the hospital for clinic. Once I finish seeing my quota of patients I leaving, no lingering. Have a cocktail party to attend which I am the chief organizer of. Though all is in place, I haffi reach on a bit earlier to mek sure seh everyting kriss. Should be done with that about 10:30 PM. Leave from there to link the Friday crew.

Sounds like a busy deay ahead eeh? Anyway, I will survive. TGIF. You have a good one.
