Chilly Monday

Well, I had a pretty good weekend. Plenty of social activities and ting. Got my car back from the shop on Friday morning and it seems arite. Bill was better than I had predicted as well. Thank God for small mercies.

What else is there to report? Well, its pretty chilly by local standards here this morning as the temperature fell last night due to the passage of a cold front. I’d estimate that it is something like 68-70 degrees Farenheit at the moment. Yes, I know to all you snowbirds that that sort of temperature is heat. But everything is relative. I had to take the blanket out last night as a chilly breeze was coming in through the top window which I had to close eventually. It is nice weather though. Will be able to save some gas while driving to work this morning…won’t need any AC.

The race for the leadership of the PNP is now on in earnest. Yesterday Comrade Peter Phillips had his bashment. Of course, the usual promises of more jobs, reduction in crime and bullcrap that typifies political campaigns did let off. Still, I sort of have a feeling seh Phillips have the edge over Portia and Omar. On the other side of the fence, I think that the opposition JLP is looking (for want of better word(s)) impotent to rass! Seems we may well have the ruling party in for yet a fourth term. I think is time we legislate that no party can rule for more than two terms. What you locals feel? Anyhow, I naw linger too much ’bout local politricks. I will leave Scratchie to tek it on. And, I see he has! Enjoy the cool weather and have a good day at the grind.

Hi Dr. D.-Glad you got the Integra back. Personally, I’m voting for Bruce Golding.

Do the Jamaican politicians realise that not even Russia or China use the term comrade any more? What political ideal is being promoted or preserved, for that matter? Doc, do you think Phillips will get the leadership of the party, or Simpson?

Sunny…I would like to vote for Bruce, but sadly I don’t see dem coming wid nutten. They don’t look to me like a set of individuals with a plan at all…..it is so damn sad! Ri, I hear from reliabe sources that PJ does not want Portia to get the top post. Not sure if this is really the case. I don’t consider myself ‘up there’ to make political judgements, but somehow I think Peter going get the job over the others….. And yes Ri, me nuh know wah dem a gwaan wid dis ‘Comrade’ crap fah!

Agree with the 2 terms limit because after a while politicians get well complacent and take we for granted.

Yes rasta, its well chilly here… I was getting up in the night to turn off the A/C and realising that it wasn’t on!

I wonder if Portia can win, sah? I mean, how much more could she phuck up the country? Do you think she deserves a chance? To me, Bruce and his wishy washy set of fassyholes can’t make it, so I am forced to think about which of the PNP hot steppers is the least evil…

Dr. D-Bruce Golding seemed to have been the light, but from yours and Mad Bull’s comments things look pretty bleak for the JLP.

Did you see that incredible photo of Philips on the front page of Monday’s Gleaner? The online version doesn’t show the true horror. His jaw looks like dead flesh, with a blue-white tinge. And his mouth … ugh! A few rotting stumps dripping noxious drool. In his place, I’d sue the paper for image defamation.
  12. Ria Says:
More seriously, aren’t all of the contenders’ grand promises compromised by the fact that they have failed to live up to these same promises after so long in power?

If I was a 3rd world politician, I would pass a law, 2 children and no more. And then me would set out to educate the whole flippin’ nation. Sir Phillip Sherlock, bless his soul, was very vocal about education. But not one leader listened to him.
