OK Mad Bull….a Sunday post

Well, weekend hasn’t been bad so far. Friday went to Christopher’s for drinks with the crew. First in a few months I went there. Was OK…..initially was a bit boring actually. Then we found out why it may have appeared scanty…..seems Friday was the first ‘Mas Camp’ for this year……warm up events to our local Carnival. For me, I will perhaps go watch the parade and sip couple beers….look on some o de gyal dem in costume…but me nuh inna de ‘jumpin’ ting.

Anyhow, as the nite drew on and the VX was imbibed, I was given an intro. to a lass who is here on a business trip…..from Panama. At first when I was introduced, I thought she was from Jamdown, as her accent sounds very much like ours, and she speaks fluent English. Eventually, we got to chatting……en espanol……si, mi espanol no es muy mal, especialmente por conversacion…….it wasn’t a bad evening overall. Got nuff commendations on my Spanish. Didn’t stay out too late as I had plans to drive go Portland Saturday.

So, woke at 9 Saturday AM, had breakfast and then did a quick supermarket pass chru. Eventually headed to Portland a bit later than planned. Nice drive. They have done some good improvements on a large part of the ‘Junction’ Road. They have put in lots of ‘cats eyes’ and a lot of reflective paint to line the road. The surface is pretty decent also. So, what was previously a pretty dark road that one had to ride slowly on, is now a road that you can drive on at a better speed…….still being cautious noetheless. Don’t get the idea that I am a careless driver……will admit that I can be a bit heavy on the press…but I don’t take chances…specially when I have peeps in my vehicle. And, one of mi bredrin’s did accompany me. Anyhow, good as usual to get out of the ‘Corporate Area’ and breathe some fresh country air and see some scenery. Jerk Pork at Blueberry Hill did not miss…as per usual.

On the way back I stopped to buy some vegetables from a roadside vendor. Mainly it was the carrots that caught my attention…dem pretty and orange you see….and not tasteless and fulla fertilizer like de ‘farin’ vegetables dem! When I stopped by the lady, I noticed she also had breadfruits, and had it in mind to buy two if the price was reasonable. So, I checked her ’bout the breadfruit price….$180 each!? Much too much money for a breadfruit IMHO. So, I asked her….”Fe wah!?” So her reply was….”A lady jus done tell me seh Docta nuh seh it go save har life, so she naw pay dat price!” I told her that I fully agreed with the lady. Paid for the carrots and continued the press back to town.

After getting home and eating some dinner, having a well needed shower and ting…I was feeling a bit tired after the drive, so I decided to jus chill out for the night, flex and watch some TV…yeah…me who nuh really tek een TV more dan so……if you want to know what I was watching….then click ‘more’

Tuned een to the Discovery Channel. They were just about to start a show….’The Anatomy of Sex’……hmmm…why not? Pretty interesting stuff, some of which I knew from my medical school days still…….There was discourse about the differences in human male and female sexuality, and how evolution of man actually changed the way in which we as humans interact in a sexual way with each other.

If you believe that human beings evolved, then our ancestors apparently used to creep on all four limbs. The ancestral human female thus used to emphasize her butt and vagina from the rear. Hence, man would ‘mate’ primarily from behind…(not to say that anything prevents you from so doing if you please in today’s world as well…). They went on further to say that as we evolved, one of the major things about present day man that distinguishes us from our forefathers is that fact that we eventually assumed the erect posture, standing on our feet. This freed our hands, and allowed us to be able to interact with the opposite sex face to face. It also resulted in the female reproductive anatomy rotationg forwards and downwards.

They then discussed another difference in the way men and women view sex/sexuality. True it is that once a month, a woman sheds one egg or ovum if she does not get pregnant. A lot of energy is put into the whole process of shedding an egg….and remember also, that a woman produces only a finite number of eggs in her lifetime. The show went on to say that women thus tend to be very picky about whom they decide to ‘mate’ with, as her eggs are scrace and precious. Thus females are looking ideally for one mate that will in essence provide for all their needs….security for herself and her children, companionship, financial and sexual needs…etc.

Look now on the flipside of the coin at us dudes. The average rude bwoy produces about 300 MILLION sperm in a DAY! (To rahtid!) So, we have nuff seed to spare. Shyte, it’s dime a dozen if you think about it. As a result of this, the show says that we men see just about every woman as a potential mate…as we are literally machines designed to produce sperm and release it…if you think that our sole purpose here is to reproduce. Hence, men are less discriminatory than women in choosing sexual partners, and tend to have many more. Perhaps you may look at that and say that they’re justifying the ’nuff gyal’ promiscuous nature that typifies many of us dudes…I’m not. Just a reason wid you. Remember, is not all o we stay so either. Soicalization, upbringing and lots of other factors influence male and female sexual behaviour. I found it all pretty interesting stuff….yes, I’m much into evolution, astrononmy, sexuality and such.

Right now, dinner is just about done and I getting sorta hungry….so I will leave you with these ideas…perhaps, if you feel inclined you can make a comment or two on any of them you want to. Enjoy your Sunday evening.

180 is how much USD? I think they sell breadfruit here from 2 to 5 EC.I would think it real hard to pay 5 bucks if am crazy enough to buy one.I wonder if women so choosy who they mate with depending on some things I see:)

Yeow, Doc! Yes, me deh bout. So anyway, maybe your next post should be on how you blend evolution theory with Christianity, because I do believe you have said here that you believe in God. Re the man/woman thing, right away you can see that the people dem theory is flawed. If the women tend to monogamy and the men to polygamy, who are the men being polygamous with? Are they saying that there were just plenty more women than men? What, do the fossils bear that out? Cho, anyone can suppose anything, I suppose… So anyway Doc, I JUST go a street go buy a Sunday Observer and a Sunday Gleaner. Tell me… which part Dunkirk deh again? Hmmm… Anyway, a dead sup’m dat… mek me lef’ it alone, seen? We’ll talk… more time.

Doc: From what I’m seeing, women seem to be “evolving” out of that choosiness mode. More and more man waan woman fi mind dem and de woman dem glad fi dweet! And look at the number of single mothers out there who mate with men who run off and leave them to raise the children alone. How many times have I seen well groomed intelligent women with some guy who looks like something the cat dragged in hanging all over her! The sexual evolutionists better go back to the drawing board on this issue. In fact some women seem to prefer the irresponsible ruffian types than the loyal, hard-working guys.

$180 Ja is bout 3 US Kami. Breadfruit nuh sell fe dem price! MB, who says that someone who believes in God can’t think that evolution occurred…in fact, the human being is still evolving….IMHO… As to where Dunkirk is…can’t say I can help you. Pauline, you have some good points there! Perhaps they were making generalizations…..
  5. Desiree Says:
I see Paulines’ point - women do seem to be less choosy (as long as they have birth control methods)… I’m sure many a woman has had sex with a man she’d not be wanting to have a life-long relationship with as she felt protected by her pills, condoms or alternate birth-control method. Some too do choose the less-responsible man, intentionally- good thing we aren’t all drawn to the same type or there’d be a major shortage in the end!
