cruisers.jpg Well, here is some welcome news! smily

Seems that the powers that be here in the Cayman Islands are planning to put in place a cap on the number of cruise ship passengers which will be allowed to visit Cayman on a daily basis. The number will be capped at 9,200. I think this is a grand idea which strikes the balance between those who will be screaming that we need all the tourist dollars we can get and those who complain that we can’t go about our business at all when we have six or seven ships in the harbour.

It can get really congested at times. The picture over on the left does give an impression of the crowd which decends upon the waterfront, but its not really accurate, IMHO. When we have in seven ships, there are a lot more people milling about and snarling traffic than that! I think that this is a great thing and I commend the authorities for this.

Hey, I recently posted a picture of a boat that some Cuban refugees sailed over to Grand Cayman on. At the time I was commenting that I wouldn’t sail around the harbour in George Town in it. Well, seems my instincts were right! See, the boat has sunk and is now causing an environmental problem, as it is leaking fuel and its batteries are leaking.

I hope the authorities do something about it soon. I wonder what they will do with it though. I think they should raise the boat somehow, bring it ashore and break it up, then send the pieces to the dump or burn it (I think its a wooden structure. That may be easier said than done though… smily

Yesterday, I was showing a bredrin at work the Matisyahu video I posted below and I commented to him that reggae music is really easy to copy. Hell, imagine, a hasidic jew from Brooklyn just ups and put out such a good song. The man sounds like he comes straight from Yard! It brought back memories too of the German brother, Gentleman, who has had a few really nice reggae songs burning up the airwaves.

Still, at the time I mentioned this to my bredrin, I never thought I would be reading this morning that Paris Hylton will be putting out a reggae / hiphop album! smily

Wow! I hope she can really sing. So far, it seems to me that Paris is really just famous for being famous, you know. Maybe this will be her opportunity to be famnous for something worthwhile. Still, if she can really sing and she makes it big in that sphere, can you imagine what her concerts will be like? She’ll probably outdo Madonna, don’t you think? I think I’d go to see her! smily

Oonoo Believe Dis?

Posted in Interesting Stuff on May 27th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Yow, me cyah believe dis!

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have an entire government on their side in the latest celebrity vs. paparazzi skirmish as they await the birth of their child in seclusion at a resort in Namibia.

The Namibian Embassy in Pretoria tells journalists seeking visas for Namibia to cover the birth of the eagerly awaited celebrity baby that they must have permission from Pitt and Jolie in writing before they will be allowed into the country.

The government, which has seen its profile as a tourist destination increased by the celebrity visit, has arrested photographers, confiscated film, set up large green barriers on the beach to shield the couple and their children Zahara and Maddox, ringed the hotel with heavy security and threatened to expel any journalist trying to cover the birth without the parents’ permission.

Bwoy, when you large, you just large… still, check out the headline CNN ran this story under:

Now I don’t know about you, but I think thats just wrong! Why are they exalting these people so? I wonder if they don’t put on their clothes just like you and I have to everyday, and if they don’t have to wipe their arses just like we do? Aren’t they just people? smily

Foolishness that, man!

San Andres

Posted in Interesing Stuff on May 26th, 2006 by Mad Bull

You know, before I came to Cayman to live, I had never even heard of San Andres!

Since I have been here though, I have met a number of people from there and I have heard a bit about the place. Actually, there are really a couple of islands (San Andres and Providencia) and some cays that make up this archipelago which is part of Columbia. I found it strange that it was a part of Columbia since it was much nearer geographically to Nicaragua, but we can thank the European colonisers and their penchant for fighting each other and taking away the islands from each other for that, I suppose.

Now San Andres seems to be heavily into tourism like Cayman, and it has a tax free status, also like Cayman. I wonder if the cost of living is as high over there too… San Andres has the usual beautiful beaches and there are plenty watersports to get involved in, and apparently the nightlife there is pretty irie! The nightlife in Cayman is nice too, but San Andres has the advantage in that they don’t “lock down the dance” at 3:00am on Friday nights and at 12:00am on Saturdays.

The people who live there speak both English and Spanish, though their English sounds like that of a Jamaican from deep in the rural hinterlands! Its quite patois-laden, but you can definitely understand and be understood by these people.

I guess they are not at the level of Cayman economically, because there are so many of them working here. Still, maybe one of these days I will go there to visit.

No! Contrary to what some of you people with dirty minds might think (yes, I mean Doctor D., R.I. and Trouble), I am not going there to pick up Latina women! Yeah, I have heard that there is some sex tourism going on there, but hey, that stuff goes on back home in Jamaica too, and thats DEFINITELY not all there is to Jamaica, so I am guessing that this is not all there is to San Andres Island either! Plus, I plan to vacation there with Natty! C’mon now! Who takes sand to the beach, right? If I was going there for the women, would I go with Natty? Nah! Of course, this vacation won’t be taking place next week or anything, cos some money haffi run first, but one of these days…

By the way, you know how we have green lizards in Jamaica? They have BLUE lizards in San Andres Island! Very very blue lizards! Check this photo out! I definitely prefer the look of that little blighter to that of our green lizards! Pretty, man! If I was the sort of person to keep lizards as pets, I think I would keep a blue lizard like that one, fer shure! smily

You know, I have to believe that my favourite colour is blue…

A midweek dream….

Posted in General on May 25th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, yesterday evening, I went walking again. Place was mucho humid and hot, so man buss a serious sweat. Walk was good and lower limbs felt like they did suppem after. Anyway, apart from feeling good after exercise and the fact that the belly is going down with the enforced dietary modifications, another thing I find is that sleep is blissful when I exercise. Last night was no different. Turned in at about eleven and watched some TV with the windows behind me open as the night was starting to cool down. Eventually when I realized that slumber was a hol me, I closed the windows and floated off.

During the course of the night-morning hours….most likeley during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, I started to dream. I was at a rahtid session that was held on a beach. The vibes were irie, nuff good looking gyal in thongs….some were even topless, liquor and food aplenty and nuff mingling was a gwaan. There I was with VX in hand, donning a swim trunks with a washboard abdomen that most man woulda gie dem left seed to have! I spotted the most gorgeous looking woman standing up alone. Her body flawless, her hips so curved that when I started to look lust at her, all I could think of was making a little Dr. D. with her! smily Our eyes made four, and I walked over and struck up a conversation. Turns out she was at the session alone……(kinda strange for such a looker….) but anyway, I wasn’t complaining. Some drinks and food later, we decided to move to a more secluded part of the beach as it was obvious that we wanted to do more than just chat.

Found a spot on the beach where there was a large rock near the shore whose surface was quite smooth. I sat on it and she approached me by straddling me and wrapping her thighs and legs around my back. We soon got into some serious tongue swapping and both our hands went to work exploring, rubbing and touching each other in all the right places.

Her warmth and wetness had me standing like a soldier in my trunks. What was going to come (pun intended) smily next was inevitable. She had her tongue in my ear and whispered ever so softly, “I want to blow you before we make love right here on the rock. Then we can go for a swim in the cleansing surf!” How could I refuse? She started to make her way down to meet the soldier, using her tongue to caress my rippled abdomen and my umbilicus…..shyte it felt good! I was in bliss, watching her go to work. Eventually, she started to undo the waist of my trunks and she took the hardened soldier in her soft warm hands, its head staring up at her as if to say, “Gwaan chru nuh, put a man out of him misery!” Her head made its way towards mine, and just as she started to part her succulent lips, a transformation occurred. My babe changed from every man’s dream into a beast! Her skin became like that of some prehistoric reptile, she developed sharp six inch long fangs that would mince my hardened member into shreds! Her face became like that of a monster. The pink tongue which was about to bathe my best friend in warmth and wetness became blue like that of a gila monster, and forked at the tip! Her fingernails turned into talons, like an eagle’s. As she was about to engulf me, I woke up from sleep, my heart racing, sweat on my forehead saying, “NOOOOOOOOO!” Instinctively, my hand went feeling for my hood. Phew, it was still there, intact! Eventually, I fell back into slumber…but thankfully, I did not dream of being at any more sessions.

Now, I guess the moral of the story is that things may not always be what they seem to be. (First part of the dream was damn nice still……)

OK, so now that you feeling all fulla lust, is there anything else to chat about? Bwoy, not really. Work going on as usual, and I looking forward to tomorrow evening. Vacation looms. So, until I have another midweek dream that is postworthy, tek it easy nuh! smily

Here Labouring….

Posted in General on May 23rd, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, y’all are probably wondering wtr (what the rass… my Jamaican equivalent of wtf) I am up at this hour blogging for on a Public holiday, namely Labour Day. Well, essentially, I am here ending a night of call which will expire at 8 AM today…..it is now after 5 AM. That means that I am not on duty today for the holiday.

Last night, I got home at about eight. Did an evening check with the ward patients to ensure that all was well and collected a few lab results. Drove home in what seemed to be a bit more than usual traffic on the roads…probably because today is a holiday. Assisted with a matter for someone that I know by making a few telephone calls and then got settled in front of dinner….some beef balls and nuff vegetable, calaloo and raw veggies……remember…no carbs with the night meal….belly looking reasonable btw. So, having enjoyed my dinner and let off some natural gases, I log on here to see if anybody decided to comment on my last post…..yeah, there were a few…..thanks to those of you who bothered. Went to start reading some of my regulars when the cell rings……it is the hospital. smily Dem have a likkle pickney they would like me to see. Their diagnosis is Varicella….(Chicken Pox.) Instantly, my dermatologic mind trips in. The history is too long for Chicken Pox. If the blisters started a week ago, he should not still be developing new ones a week later, they should be starting to resolve now…. (natural history of the pox is about a 7-10 day illness)…..so even before seeing him, that diagnosis is in doubt. (I guess that is why there are dermatologists.)

So, I get into the Integra and head back out to see this blistered yute. Turns out that I am entertaining a diagnosis of Erythema multiforme or perhaps Linear IgA Bullous Dermatosis of Childhood. (For those who may be saying wtr again, never mind….a Google search may help to get you outta de dark, as I am not going to expound any further.)

So, I admitted the poor fella doing most of the necessary. But, he was so miserable last night I decided to spare him, his mother, (and myself), the trauma of the skin biopsy last night. (I hate de hold down bizniz with children, another reason why I decided against Paediatrics.) So, I am going to go up to the ward early this morning, slap a little EMLA cream (a topical anaesthetic cream) on a good blister and proceed with the few other investigations I need to do to complete his admission.

So, now I am having my cuppa Earl Grey and when I get back which should be erly, I will place Sir Ham inna de oven. I just looked at it and it seems it may be suffering from a bit of freezer burn, but we will see how it turns out, as it has been thawing overnight in the kitchen sink. Other than that, I plan to do a bit of fish tank maintenance and chill out with some peeps in the evening. Will let you know if the ham can eat. Enjoy the Labour Day holiday, even if your project for the day involves using pointed tools to get horizontal with a bed partner! smily To those of you who are not on holiday today and have to go to work…..well, I guess your labour is already set out for you. Tek it easy nuh.

The day before….

Posted in General on May 22nd, 2006 by Dr. D

Labour Day! That’s what today is, and in case you forgot it is a Monday today. Now, today being the day before a holiday, it helps make this work week so much more easy to stomach. Despite the fact that I am on call tonight, it naw go cramp my style. I will simply mek sure that things in my corner of the hospital are copasetic. Keepings fingers, toes and other nameless dangling appendages crossed that it will be a decent night.

So, what is on the agenda for tomorrow? Well, they say Christmas comes but once a year. But, in this household, that is debatable. Why so might you ask? Well, as you might be aware, if you read this site for long enough, one of the things that is a must in dis yard for Christmas is the lovely HAM! Ham becomes a staple here in the Yuletide season. Man open de fridge to get some water and a slice a ham haffi cut!

Well, recently we gave out our deep freezer to have a duco job. In order to have this done, it had to be defrosted and ting. Took five days for the block of ice that had collected in it to thaw. Well, lo and behold, guess what was discovered in the ice but a rock solid ham! smily Now, it is about a twelve pounder and I think it is about 2 years old. So, in order to not have it dry out for any longer, I going bake it rass tomorrow as my Labour Day project. I won’t be out in no yard or on sidewalk sweating in no hot sun using no cutlass or shovel. Ooooh shyte…..I jus passed by the supermarket and picked up a few things and I now realize I forgot to buy the fercking tin of pineapple slices to go along with the ham! smily Oh well, I guess I will have to make anodda stop later as the supermarket will be closed tomorrow. Some peeps going come up, one doing rice and peas, someone else doing a salad and I just may do a tuna pasta for good measure if the spirit moves me. So, it shudda be a arite Labour Day spent with friends. Sorry if you all have to Labour at the office, but it just feels nice to have a day from work in the same week that I going off on leave. Till next time……keep on keeping on.

Paranoid

Posted in Entertaining on May 22nd, 2006 by Mad Bull

OhmiGod! Its Monday again! Already! What traps and snares lie in my path this week at work? How will my overly ambitious colleagues try to show me up? What will my boss try to shift the balme unto me for? Which user departments will blame I/T for their own mistakes? Believe you me, the minefield that is work is going to be playing its “A” game this week, just like all the other weeks! The question is, what kind of response will I be able to offer? smily

Anyway, it doesn’t make any sense to sit here and become paralysed with fear over this ish! After all, I have been going out to work on Monday mornings for YEARS now! I can do this! I CAN!!!

Breathe… b r e a t h e… aaaahhhhh…. thats better!

Now all I need to do is to focus on something else apart from work… let my mind float out of my body and leave my body functioning automatically, handling all that the day has to throw at it instinctively… until the first test comes. I think I will focus on CJ Gibson. She looks hot, ent?

There is more, of course…

Munich

Posted in Reviews on May 21st, 2006 by Mad Bull

I just watched the movie “Munich“, directed by Steven Spielberg. It was about the Isreali response to the killing of the Isreali athletes at the Olympics in Munich by the “Black September Terrorists. (setting up a secret Mossad assasination squad to hunt the terrorists).

I thought it was an excellent film, which is probably why it was nominated for five Academy Awards. I would recommend renting the DVD if you haven’t seen the movie, because it was good. Apparently I am not alone in thinking so, see, Rotten Tomatos has a 78% rating for the movie.

I came across this section on memorable quotes from the movie at the Internet Movie Database Website. I do think that some of the quotes there were pretty good, but the saying I found most interesting was not up there. I am going to give you it from memory, because I have to return the DVD and can’t stop to search for the quote again. Here goes:

“We live and work in a world of intersecting secrets. We die where those secrets meet.”. This was said by Pa Pa, I think, to Avner when he was questioning Pa Pa and Louis as to who was responsible for the Dutch woman who killed Carl.

A very interesting movie…
