Jus writing stuff…
What follows may not make a hell of a lot of sense, but you have been warned….and no, there’s no VX on board…at least not yet!
Well, this morning I woke a bit early feeling all sweaty as the place was extremely humid…felt almost like Florida. Now, where I live even when the days are hot, it gets relatively cool at night, so to wake up feeling all sweaty is not the norm. Eventually, as dawn broke, I realized that the sky was all grey…in fact, I did notice that the leaves of the Julie Mango tree outside my bedroom window (anybody who want some can come pick, is strictly Bombay me deal wid, just be nice and ask, but if de dawg dem bite you, you deh pon you own!) had some raindrops on them. Apparently rain had fallen last night for a while, but I didn’t hear it. During the course of today, I learned that some cold front is passing over the region and causing a trough that is bringing disturbed weather to the land of W(H)ood and Water….(another name for Jamdown for those who might not have known). So, we have been having showers on and off with breeze, but the place humid nuh rass.
I must admit to having had an enjoyable day at work today. Things went smoothly, patient and co-worker interaction was decent. Pity tings doh always run so eeh?
While at lunch, a few of us medics were chatting about how patients like to relate illnesses to life events. (Maybe we are all guilty of trying to relate stuff that happens to us to life events). Let me try elaborate in case you nuh undastan wah me a try seh.
When seeing patients, the first thing we try to get from them is why it is they need to see us….what is the problem, referred to as the Presenting Complaint….as this is what has made them ‘present’ to us. There can be more than one complaint as well, called ‘P.C.’ for short….and no, is not the abbreviation for the claat with the cat before it
). Usually we ask how long the symptoms associated with the P.C. have been going on. Now, typical patients will give some vague answer like….’long time’…….or, ‘it started about a year after my second daughter got divorced from her first husband’, or ‘it was just about a week after Hurricane Ivan!’ (I’m exaggerating a bit…but I hope you get the point.)…..Or a more typical one is…’a good while’. Now, what we are trying to ascertain is an approximate time……five days, a month, three years. As a male doctor at lunch today said…..when patients tell me ‘a good while’, my reply is that, “For me, ten minutes is a good while!”
(Hope you got that one. I’m sure the rude boyz will.) I actually found it a good laugh over lunch.
The other medic who was having lunch with us was female, who kinda gave him the look to say that if he is admitting to ten minutes being a good while for him, his chances with her were next to nought…(not that any such thing was going happen anyhow…) Anyway, all that scribbling was essentially to try to share a joke we shared over lunch today.
Despite the wettish humid weather, I walked earlier and buss a rahtid sweat this evening. As I write, another downpour of rain has started. Seems like it will be the modus operandi for the night. Actually the weather report says it should continue ’till Friday. So, that means you can leave your brolly at home, as there will be blazing hot sun all day tomorrow! No, actually, me doing de weather man bad, it look like this going continue for at least another day or so. I doh too mind as the place had started to get dry again.
I looking forward to next week for more than one reason. Tuesday next is a holiday, Labour Day. Nice…means we escape a clinic and I man not on call, so I shall be sleeping late. Most likely a link up going tek place on Monday nite, or Tuesday. Second reason is that when I leave the hospital Friday evening next week, I will be in official ‘Leggo beast bruck out’ mode, as I is going be on LEAVE!!! Bliss. Will be going to Portland for my once a month Saturday Practice, and then heading north the Sunday. I am looking forward to going as it is almost a year I haven’t seen my sister, neice and Bro-in-Law. I am sure it will be a good linkup. Have to start getting some things together for the trip…like a few gift items, and I hate doing stuff last minute, so I am going to start from this weekend.
Is there anything else to report? Well, apart from the fact that right now I find myself a bit bored, I doh think so. (You probably bored out rass as well, or you would not in your right mind have read this far! Have a good night peeps, and thanks for reading and commenting! HINT!!! (Me idle eeh?)
And here is a latish (blame the clock) but welcome addendum to the post. Guweh Gatlin!
(Maybe they used his bredrin Greene to make that smiley with the tongue!?)
