Man Cannot Live by Football Alone

Posted in Entertaining on June 28th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Hail up to all crew! Did you watch the Brazil - Ghana match yesterday? Wow! What a match. Ghana basically was outperforming Brazil in every area for about 70 minutes of the match! They were just unable to finish! Brazil, on the other hand were not goal shy. They won the game three-nil! Talk about winning against the run of the game, bwoy! I agree with the Ghanaian coach that Brazil’s second goal was scored by a player who was in an offside position, actually, but this is football, nuh true. It isn’t perfect.

Still, as the title of this post posits, man cannot live by football alone. So what else is going on for me to chat with you all about. I checked the logs of this site and do you know what I noticed? Apart from the usual referrals I notice in the Tower’s logs from people searching for “wearing white after labour day and a few looking for porn (the nastiest search of which was wiping arses porn! Ugh! Dah breddah deh nasty! Whats sexy about that?), I saw a number of searches for Christine Straw who was Miss Jamaica World 1998 (she barely beat Seven for the position, actually) and also, Miss Jamaica Universe 2004.

Yeah, Christine Straw is a beautiful woman, well worth searching out, IMHO! I decided to follow a couple of the links that the search threw up myself and I eventually came across Global Beauties. Seems that the world is gearing up for another Miss Universe competition! Anyway, while glancing through the Global Beauties site, I noticed that they had interviews (containing pictures) with the contestants from Brazil and Ghana! “Cool!”, I thought. “Here is an opportunity to look at how a World Cup of Beauty match between the two nations would have turned out!”. smily

angela5.jpg

Above, we have Angela Ansare from Ghana, she is Miss Ghana Universe 2006, she is 21 years old and she is 6′2″! That means she is too young for me and she is too tall for me! Does that deter me? No Rasta! The girl looks like a million bucks! I would still date her (if I were single, of course!) She look hot! Click on Angela’s picture to go to the Global Beauties webpage with her interview and with more pictures of this beauty! Bwoy, she definitely needs to go into modelling, but at the same time, I hope she avoids the scrawny, super meagre, model look!

bra3.jpg

Above, we have Rafaela Zanella, Miss Brazil Universe. She is only 19 years old! My word! She too looks like a million bucks, and she will represent her country well! Click upon her picture to go read up her interview with Global Beauties as well. Yeah, she is pretty and she looks like she would have a nice body and ting. Still, oonoo notice that she won’t open up her mouth and smile? Check out her interview! In none of the pictures does she crack her lips and reveal her choppers! Wah mek? Hmmm…

For me, the clear winner of this beauty matchup is Ghana, and its not just because she can show us her teeth either! Look at her beautiful face! Her sexy pout! Check out the dawta’s flawless complexion! Coo pon di legs! She a say one, my yute! Miss Ghana Universe 2006 runs this show, bwoy! Ghana may have lost out to Brazil on the football field, but in the Beauty Pageant Arena, they take top honours, IMHO! Ghanaians, wave up oonoo flag!

Respect to Global Beauties, still…

Here at last!

Whaapen my peeps? I know some of you are wondering wtf happen to de Doc…. well, an explanation follows. No, I hadn’t decided not to blog…let us say last week was a rass of a week, lots of happenings.

First off, my cousin’s Grandma…(she really isn’t my Grandmother…both of mine are long deceased)….but I was close to her… got sick again. Was recently diagnosed as having cancer of the colon with spread to lungs. She was to be ninety nine years young on the 28th of this month. I’d say that by most standards, that is a hell of an innings….(much as I doh give a shyte about cricket).

Anyway, due to her advanced age and the stage of her disease, she wasn’t a candidate for surgery, chemotherapy or any such heroics. That would just kill her faster than the disease. So, it was decided to allow her to live what time she had left with family, and with the most reasonable quality of life that she could have ’till the Big Man above called her number. Well, she had a good month or so after having her diagnosis made. Monday gone she started vomiting again…..clearly, her intestines were obstructed. It didn’t make sense to take her back to hospital to get all confused and ting again. They wouldn’t really be doing anything for her. So, I was assisting with some IV fluids, drip etc. at home where she had her family and a Nurse looking after her. Well, her number was called last Friday, she is at peace now. We all know that you are OK Mrs. C. You were a good soul. RIP. It was a pleasure to have been able to assist you with some basic medical care in your last days, and I am better off for having known you from I was a yute.

This still does not explain my MIA status. Tuesday night I went to a meeting. Got home late and went to bed. Got up Wednesday morning, head out to the patio to feed the fish as per. All seemed well. Got ready and headed to work. In the afternoon, I am in ICU seeing a patient referred to our service for a consultation. My cell rings…it is my Pops. Says he has bad news. I assume seh somebody dead. No…so what then? De frigger dem nuh bruck into the house! smily Instantly I am mega pissed! Fukahs prised out three of the wooden lats we have on the patio creating a gap about eighteen inches wide and simply helped themselves to what they wanted. Indeed, the sad part is that we were probably in deep sleep and didn’t hear a sound. The dogs were not barking either. Is some bloodclaat tief inna de area dat know and watch the yard, and probably know the dogs as well. I feel is the same one(s) that stole my briefcase outta my room using a picking stick about two years back. I guess I can say thank God, we were not hurt as they were not able to get into the house proper. But, it is still frightening. Is as if a man hol me down and bore from backways to rahtid….violated! Scorpion dem come eena mi personal space, mi yard, mi sanctuary!

What did the rasses steal? My CD player and all my CDs! Nutten else. Surprising still…as there were more valuables out there. So, Police were called and dem did reach. Came to take prints the following day….not that I’m hopeful anything will be recovered.

Long and short of it is that we have decided to remove the lats. Construction began today…concrete it will be. Patio going lose some of its relaxing feel, but a so it go. See, we are the ones who mus go buss we shirt at work so that these rasses can come ’shop’ for what dem want when dem ready! Live like prisoners inna we yard. At the moment, the work is not finished, and that leaves the patio open, so we have a night watchman. I have told him dat anyting him see try come een….chop up it bloodclaat! Rude bwoy was sharpening up the cutlass not too long ago! smily

As a result of the violation, I haven’t been sleeping well, and there was nuff pressure at work last week also. This explains my absence. Anyhow, I was not on call weekend gone, and it was time for the Portland practice again. I also used it as a way of forgetting the week of woes and happily, I saw eight patients…the most I have had since starting there. So, word is getting ’round.

Anyway, I am going to leave you as I man tiyad and need to hold a fresh.

BTW, interesting World Cup so far eeh? The Germany/Argentina match shudda wikid. I feel seh the winner of that match carries home the cup. I backing the Argentinians, but dem German man dem look like some soljah! Anybody wagering dinero? Mek me know who your team is….I might be game for a bet too. Later. I will try ketch up wid all o you in this week.

Like nuff o you I been away from in front o the computer screen. This weekend I was on call. Juggled work, World Cup and linking bredrins. Turned out OK overall, just that I am a bit tired, but so it go.

Friday night, I was not on call, so the usual links were made. Had stopped at a rude dude yard for a few, before hitting the road. When leaving, we heard some shouting and cussin coming from one of the homes across the road. Rude dude seemed most undisturbed by the ruckus. He lives in a complex with townhouses, so units are pretty close. As he says, if him buss a fart or get down to bizniz too loud, the neighbours hear. He said that quarrels are always coming from that home….a young woman and her mother who don’t seem to share the same living space well. It all seemed so strange to me…..see, because I live in a house, that sort of thing is not a regular occurrence to me at all. I can get on with all manner of stuff without worrying too much about neighbours… (not to imply that I am)…. But even if I were to live in that sort of setting, I couldn’t live so….constantly a quarrel and shyte….dem ting deh give me bad stomach and add to stress! Why people can’t try to sort out their differences in a civilized manner? I mean, everyone on the whole block does not need to know that you and your daughter are having differences, do they?

Anyway……the balling continues today. As usual, I will tek een the first 20 minutes or so of match one before hitting the shower and heading to work. I don’t recall who is playing today, but the game is sweet. BTW, some good rahtid boxing did show Saturday night on HBO as well. More time.

A World Cup Weekend, Some Laughs…

Posted in Entertaining on June 18th, 2006 by Mad Bull

What a weekend with regard to the World Cup, huh?! I am writing this post while watching one of the games, actually… Ghana played some beautiful football on Saturday to put on a 2-0 beating on the Czech Republic. The Czech side that humbled the U.S. so recently looked like a shadow of itself! I was very pleased with the performance of the African nation. I hope they beat the U.S. when the two finally meet next week Thursday, bwoy! I want at least one African nation to go through to the second round and they are playing some beautiful ball, so…

The U.S. raised their game to hold the Italians to a one - all draw. Note, the U.S. didn’t score, Italy had to assist them in this regard, but the Americans kept the goals scored against them to only one and they did pepper the Italian goal with a number of good shots! Good game, U.S.A.! As for Italy, them want some shot!

Hey, I am not an Italy fan! (not when it comes to football! Some of the female fans in the stands now… thats a different proposition all together! )

I hope the Czechs beat the Italian’s ass on Thursday as well!

And what do you all think of the refereeing in this World Cup? Ok, the referees are just implementing the decisions of FIFA, but whats up with all this issuing of yellow cards? Yow, I see some perfectly normal looking tackles being referred to as fouls and yellow cards are being issued for them… its almost as if they are saying you can’t tackle a man for the ball at all! Whats up with that?! This isn’t basketball, this is football! Ah wah wrong wid dem! Cho man! ABC just had up some statistics: over 120 yellow cards and several (was it 8, cyah remember how much) red cards have been issued already!

And I think this has been a World Cup with very little really nasty play.

Hey, in the half time I couldn’t bother to listen to those American commentators analysing and carrying on and on over what the U.S.A. has to do to make the second round, so I switched channels to Hype TV! I watched this video of a song by a Dee Jay called “General B”, its called “Wine Up You Body”. What a lot of EXTREME ENERGY in the wines the ladies in the video were putting down! They were putting on some ‘dutty wine’ style, mah peeps! It was nice to watch, but truthfully, if a girl was wining on me like that during the real act, I would have to issue her a yellow card, rasta! No bwoy, those moves are too energetic! They could result in the tool getting bent out of shape at the least (quite painful! Trust me, I know!) and in a broken penis at the worst! If the girl continued with the rough stuff after my initial warning, I would have to send her off, star! Dem ting deh can result in permanent damage! Anyway, as I said, the video was nice to watch. Took my mind off of football for awhile, you know… Thank God for Hype TV!

Hey, Brazil have beaten Australia 2-0, but they really didn’t play as well as they could have, IMHO. People, the bredrin ting has to stop. Ronaldo needs to be benched from today forward, IMHO. Start Robinho instead. Yeah, Roberto did set up the first goal, but he was playing like only half a man! Why put 10.5 men on the field when you can put on 11, you simi? On top of that, though, Australia put a lot of shots near to the Brazillean goal, too much if you ask me. Hey, Brazil could have been taking the ball out of the back of their net on at least two occasions, and its just luck why they didn’ have that happen. Some tightening up is necessary or some hotshot team will bore up dem nahni (score plenty goals upon them) in the second round! Ok, I done talk!

Enough World Cup chat! Have a couple of jokes on me… here is the first one.

The Deaf Bookkeeper

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper has screwed him out of ten million bucks; his bookkeeper is deaf. It was considered an occupational benefit, and the reason he got the job in the first place, since it was assumed that a deaf bookkeeper would not be able to hear anything that he’d ever have to testify about in court.

When the Godfather goes to shakedown the bookkeeper about his missing $10 million bucks, he brings along his attorney, who knows sign language.

The Godfather asks the bookkeeper: “Where is the 10 million bucks you embezzled from me?”

The attorney, using sign language, asks the bookkeeper where the 10 million bucks is hidden. The bookkeeper signs back: “I don’t know what you are talking about.” The attorney tells the Godfather: “He says he doesn’t know what you’re
talking about.”.

That’s when the Godfather pulls out a 9 mm! pistol , puts it to the bookkeepers temple, cocks it, and says: “! Ask him again!”. The attorney signs to the underling: “He’ll kill you for sure if you don’t tell him!”. The bookkeeper signs back: “OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed in my cousin Enzo’s backyard in Queens!”.

The Godfather asks the attorney: “Well, what’d he say?”. The attorney replies: “He says you don’t have the balls to pull the trigger.”

Heh heh heh heh… what a man wikid doh, eeeh? Still, maybe I would have done the same thing! What about you?

While you ponder that question, gwaan prips the second joke nuh…

“An Empty Seat… At the World Cup Final?”

A man has tickets for the World Cup final. After he has been sitting in his seat for a few minutes, the man in the seat behind him taps him on the shoulder and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

“No,” he says. “The seat is empty.”.

“Absolutely incredible!” said the man. “Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the World Cup Final, the greatest sporting event in the world, and not use it?”.

“Well actually,” he says, “the seat belonged to my Wife. She was supposed to come with me but she passed away. This is the first World Cup final we haven’t been to together since we got married.”.

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” replies the man. “That’s terrible. But couldn’t you find someone else to take the seat? A friend or relative, or even a neighbour?”.

The man shakes his head “No, they’re all at the Funeral.”

OMG!!! What a man mad! Still, it is the World Cup Final! Wah fi do? Happy Father’s Day, folks!

All I Got Was a Tee Shirt

Posted in Me So Horny on June 15th, 2006 by Mad Bull

When I was about 20 or 21, my sister-in-law gave me a tee shirt, for Christmas, I think it was… the front of the tee shirt had a caption : “Liquor up front” and on the back, it had the caption : “Poker in the back”.

Beneath the caption on the front was a pussy cat with a glass mug of beer, and on the back, the same pussy cat was sitting holding a poker hand of cards, a royal strait flush in fact.

The idea that was being brought across had nothing whatsoever to do with liquor or with cards, however. Click the link below to find out what the stuff on that tee shirt really meant.

What to write? Oh well….

Posted in General on June 14th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, I thought that I would scribble something here lest you all feel that I have dropped this thing. No, I haven’t actually, but I am adopting a new approach: I will post if and when I feel like and have the time. So, if you don’t see anything written for days or even a week, is jus so it go. No pressha, zeen!?

While I was on vacation, I did break my dietary modification of ‘no carbs’ with the evning meal. It hard nuh rahtid to be on a diet while on hoilday when you jus waan live it up. However, I did manage to walk three evenings while away. I walked yesterday and this evening also, and have now returned to going up the hill twice as I found that going up only once wan’t working me enough. I guess it mean seh man a get back him stamina! smily Inkeeping with the weight loss/fitness, dinner just now was a bowl of red peas soup and some raw vegetable salad.

In other news, the States continues with their surveillance of visitors to that country. Yes, I have been subjected to the left and right index finger, look in the camera things on previous trips when one arrives. Now, in addition to turning in your I-20 at the check in counter when you travel to the US on a Visitor’s Visa, you have to go to the US Visitor Visa machine where you insert the Visa page of your Passport into a Machine, your name comes up and then you have to go through the left and right index finger, look into the camera friggrey once more. At the end of this exercise, the machine spits out a little receipt with your name. This is machine is near the departure gate at the airport. So much red tape to try to avoid a recurrence of 9-11. Will it prevent such an event??? Hmmmm….

On a different note, I have been enjoying pretty much most of the football matches I have seen so far. Yesterday, while watching the Soca Warriors with the Brits, I was hoping that the boyz from T&T would score. I cussed some serious claat when the England defender saved that goal which would have put them in good stead. Very late in the second half, I stopped wathcing when England scored. The amount o bumbocleat dat did let off by others who were watching was well understood. IMHO, England despite winning that match naw look great at all. Anyway, more good fun to tek een shortly. In fact, let me go rustle up some breakfast so I can prips the first half of this morning’s game before heading out to work. I not so sure who a play, but wtr (what the rass……Ja. equiv. of wtf smily ). Today is Friday and I not on call, so the usual links will tek place. Enjoy your weekend and more balling…..for the rude dudes that can mean more that just the footie as well! smily

Wanna Go Postal?

How do you feel about your workplace? Do you like your job? Do you like the people there? I like some of the people at my workplace, but there are a number of others that really get on my last nerve, you know? These people tend to be the ones in the powerful positions too… they hold the handle of the knife while I hold the blade. Aside from just getting on my nerves, they also put in in high stress situations, where most of the time it seems that I am overworked and underpaid and where it often seems to me that I am being set up to fail! I really hate that. I just wish I could do something about it, but I have bills, dammit!

Man, I think that I am going to sign up at the Seido Karate Center up by Annette Crescent. There I will learn all manner of things and I will be able to work out my frustrations and the stress from work in a constructive way, while at the same time getting fit and learning to defend myself. If I do that, I probably wouldn’t lose out even if the karate fails to relieve me of my workplace stress!

If it ends up that I still harbour these negative feelings towards work, then at least I will also have learned the skills necessary to walk into work one morning and do this!

There is more…

Back on the rock!

Posted in General on June 12th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, two weeks seemed to simply fly as I returned home on Saturday night and am back to work this morning. I could now use another week to get me into the frame of mind to go back to work. But, alas, that is not to be. All told, it was good to have a change of scenery and meet up with family. My neice is adorable, very cute child. We had a little BBQ for her first birthday, she simply kept staring at the solitary candle and rather that attempt to blow it out (hell, she is only one) she made a grab at the chocolate cake, but we were able to stop her in time before she massacred it. The BBQ chicken and pork, which I seasoned and helped to cook was good. Had some beers with my Bro-In-Law and his neighbour while over the fire. It was a cool day, in the high sixties to low seventies which was execllent weather for a BBQ.

The usual shopping was done, bought myself a watch…..another Bulova. The lass behind the counter was trying to get me to buy a Movado….(costs more dinero, and I don’t like them ’cause if is not 12 I have difficulty telling the time…..) Anyway, that was on the second leg of the holiday in Florida. She was a Latino, originally from Colombia, muy bonita, so I was hablando con ella en Espanol. Unfortunately, she didn’t take up my offer for dinner later that night… smily So it go, can’t win them all.

I do have more to share about the hoilday, but I suppose I will save some for further bloggage. Hey, I guess you have been enjoying the World Cup matches so far! Bwoy, de football sweet eeh!? I love it how Mexico did score three goals ‘gainst Portugal (was it Portugal?) yesterday. Nuff cheering was a gwaan in the area here, and when the third goal went in the net I bawled out as well. Only to hear coming off the hill behind me, a hombre shouted out, “Goal again to raass!” smily Looking forward to more balling, only problem is that work going frig up the schedule. I hate watching replays, but I suppose some o dat going haffi gwaan.

In addition, I doh know how many of you saw it, but our rude bwoy Asafa Powell equalled the world record that he now shares with Gatlin yesterday in England. Respec to the man still, because in my opinion, he reduced the power a bit when he realized that he was comfortably at the front of the pack. I can’t wait ’till July when he and Gatlin clash….I have money putting on our bwoy to win.

Anyhow, this was just a short post to hail everybody and let you all know I am back. It is a busy week ahead, I am on call every day this week except Friday (repayment for going on leave), but whatever. I will try to leggo some comments on all of you as time allows. Till then, tek it easy.

World Cup 2006 - My Impressions thus far.

Posted in Reviews on June 11th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Well, The World Cup is iff to a good start and it is bringing plenty of color to the lives of the viewers, nuh true?

Bwoy, T&T really did well to hold Sweden to a nil all draw, though at least one Trini I know of is complaining! Taran’s idea is that the yellow cards attained and the injuries received in the match between T&T and Sweden will hurt T&T’s chance of progressing further in the competition and so there is little reason to celebrate.

My own opinion is that there was very, very little chance of T&T progressing further in the competition anyway. I am not trying to belittle T&T in any way, but I don’t think they have quite attained the lofty regions inhabited by teams such as England, Portugal and even Sweden, so to hope for a performance good enough to merit making the second round against all three of these teams is unrealistic. If you accept this premise, then another goal which one may hold as being worthy is to try not to be absolutely routed by these teams. So far, T&T succeeded in this with Sweden. I think they did well. Lets hope they can do so against Paraguay and England.

While some may feel that they might even have been able to score a goal and steal the game from Sweden if they had thrown in a couple more forwards, I think that this would have weakened their defence more and then Sweden would have more than likely slotted home several goals. Of course, what the hell do I know, right?

To me, the matches on the opening day were more exciting, and the match of the day yesterday was really the Argentina - Ivory Coast match! Ivory Coast look to be quite a team, and I switched over my allegiance from Argentina to them. Now they look to have had the ability to overthrow the favourites. They didn’t, but you could argue that this was more a matter of hard luck than because they simply were unable to do so. I would like to see this team go through until the very end! Could Ivory Coast be the first African nation to all the way to the semi-finals? (Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that previously, the highest any African nation has gone is to the quarter finals. Of course, World Cup history is not necessarily my forte…)

The Ivory Coast has a team which is chock full of talent and they play with skill and assurance. The only thing I would fault their players for is their choice of hairstyles! What is with all this creamed-hair business? Dem doh know say “Bad man nuh dress like girl!”.

By the way, England did very well to hold off Paraguay for the 1-nil victory, IMHO, especially as they were playing one man short.

“What?”, I can hear you sdaying. “I don’t remember England having a player sent off!”. You are right, they didn’t. By my statement above, I meant to suggest that the referee was so biased in his calls that he was really like a twelvth Paraguayan player to rass! He was especially harsh on Peter Crouch. Everytime he touched the ball, the ref. blew for an imaginary infringement!

Actually, even though he looks like he would be bumbling and clumsy, I think Peter Crouch is quite a talent. He can certainly work the football! I like him. I hope he sinks some balls into the back of the net in England’s next game though.
