So, it is over!
Well, I rather enjoyed yesterday’s World Cup final. Why so? Well, it was a good game of ball between two experienced teams, though as I had mentioned before, I never had a particular liking for either of the sides. As the game progressed however, I found myself wanting Italy to win….even though for most of the match, the French had the better play. When it went to extra time, the most memorable event was the sending off of Zidane. I can only say that him head did tek him…..the headbuck into the chest of the Italian player seemed most hooliganish. What a way to close out a great career….to be sent off in a World Cup final for something like that. He deserved it. From then on, I suddenly felt that it was the beginning of the end for France. Congrats to Italy.
Now that the football has ended, I will be seen in front of the tele less often, as I really don’t spend much time watching TV. Perhaps I will blog a bit more frequently, but that is by no means a promise.
Friday night a couple of my crew came up for lika. We were out on the newly pained patio within the walls. All was well, except that at the moment, there was no music to speak of. The CD player and CDs have not yet been replaced. So, a little radio on FM had to suffice. Once the drinks were flowing and the conversations got going wid a few colourful adjectives and nouns, all was well.
About three weeks back I bought four Clown Loaches for my fish tank. Paid all of Ja. $750 each for them at about an inch and a half long. Would you believe is only one left? I have no idea wtf has happened to result in three of them dying. They all looked healthy when bought. Unfortunately, I really don’t seem to have luck with these rather pretty fish as I have had others kick the bucket belly up before. Anyway, the last one seems to be holding its own. Hopefully it will get to a reasonable size.
Doh know ’bout you, but I could use along weekend soon. However, July is a long month and there are no holidays inna it to rahtid!
Will have to wait for August….speaking of which…the year seems to be running away faster than Asafa Powell is doing at the 100 metres to rass.
And this is the response of the founder of the church to the handling of the rape of the teen girl in a vehicle which was being driven by that deacon! A wah a gwaan doh eeh?
Anyhow, dats de lick for now. Sorry if it seems a bit lame. So it go. Time to get ready for that which pays the bill$! Easy.
July 10th, 2006 at 9:29 am Yes, World Cup finals was truly an excited game. We sat and watched in a resturant, hailing some food and good spirits. We were all the way for France. Well actually Germany was our team, but since them had to settle for 3rd place, we went for France in the Finals. Too bad for Zidane though….He clearly deserved that red card. Other than that..weekend came and went in good vibes, we all ready to pack and get outta dodge. just enjoy July, it gonna be finish soon.
July 10th, 2006 at 1:02 pm Zidane career really ended ona sour note.Regardless of what triggered it he should have kept his cool instead of costing his team to be a man short. Interesting re the church response.I can see them wanting to hush the story but it was a criminal act that needs prosecuting
July 10th, 2006 at 2:13 pm Didn’t catch World Cup at all. Saw DaVinci Code. Pretty good movie.
July 10th, 2006 at 3:20 pm Go Italy. I was rooting for them. Still wish Brazil won though. As for the church of the accused, they’re simply using scriptures to hide their shame and protect him.
July 10th, 2006 at 4:55 pm Should hold on to the church leaders too for aiding and abetting
July 10th, 2006 at 6:48 pm Can you imagine? It made me so mad to read the response of the church. She should be expressing regret, asking the Lord’s forgiveness, guidance. Really sad.
July 10th, 2006 at 8:38 pm Of the two teams I wanted France to win. What Zidane did is not excusable, though if the Italian guy (as rumor goes) called Zidane a terrorist because of his immigrant and Muslim roots then he too deserves some kind of sanction. It is no secret that racism in football in Europe is an issue that needs to be addressed. I’m glad that the issue has been brought to light and discussed much throughout this World Cup. As for the church thing, God said give Caesar (law of man) what is his and give me what is mine. Even the bible embodies the common sense that the church too must abide by the law.
July 11th, 2006 at 12:12 am It’s a pity that Zidane’s sending off has overshadowed pretty much all the good that was this world cup. 1.The enterprising play of Argentina 2.A young German team finishing third 3.A generally high standard of football 4.The old “Warhorse”….pun intended….Zidane winning the golden ball as most valuable player. Let me comment on the Zidane issue. I’m not condoning what he did,but it is well known that Zidane is very proud of his North African Arab antescedents and if as is being circulated in the football grapevine worldwide….the Italian made calculated racial remarks about Zidane’s ancestry and questioned his mother’s virtue then the picture becomes a little clearer. The Italians are known for their racial jabs at opponents.Samuel Eto of Cameroon who plays for Barcelona was the victim of such racial slurs when Barcelona played AC Milan in Italy and he got fed up and walked off the field. Racial slurs was also one of the reasons why Thierry Henry left Juventus of Italy to play for Arsenal of England. Now!people if da Italian bredrin deh did tell me bout my race an my mother im woulda lucky if all him get was a buck, a woulda gi him the full effect of “The Quickening” to rass….sparks woulda fly.
July 11th, 2006 at 12:17 am Doc! a hear a lady who is a senior member of the church saying that god will punish the church member who broke the story to the media. Dem say Zidane mad….a she mad to rass
July 11th, 2006 at 8:33 am Yes Charles, I have been hearing that the comment by the Italian was racially slanted. In that case, all Zidane had to do was tell de yute the equivalent of some good claat (outta earshot of Ref or officials) and then when dem gone changing room or him ketch him outta street, him could do whatever him want wid him. He shouldn’t have allowed him to get the better of his anger and cast a dark shadow over his otherwise great football career while millions worldwide were watching!
July 11th, 2006 at 10:19 am I was in shock at that ‘prayer’ by the church lady - it hits me that she still belives that women have no rights and that maybe the deacon etc were doing nothing wrong - sad.
July 11th, 2006 at 12:00 pm even if it was a racially motivated issue I’m sure Zidane and the other players of african descent are accustomed to that bullshit from the white fans and players so zidane should have just told him to carry his rass or plan to kick his ass off the field. that church pastor is crazy. she is more worried about the reputation of the church than the actual crime, she is a disgrace
July 11th, 2006 at 1:50 pm I suspect something quite sinister may be going on at this “church.” Why are there so many copies of this X-rated tape of a girl being attacked and crying for mercy around? Why was one found in the deacon’s home? Who made the copies and for what purpose? To have that woman singing praises for the offenders and calling down fire and brimstone on the person who sought justice for the little girl is one of the reasons so many stay away from church. There are too many hypocrites dwelling therein! This is why I think it is pure folly to assume that if a church leader is put on each public board it will guarantee no corruption. This horrible event should shock people back to reality. Make no mistake, there are wonderful people in church. I have experienced their goodness. But there are some evil ones there too. I have experienced their demonic ways. Church is just like the rest of society–gooodness and wickedness traveling side by side.
July 11th, 2006 at 2:14 pm hey doc. i did not have th etime to watch but i tivo’d. of course i heard the result long before i had the chance to watch so my anxiousness to play it has deadened a bit. hope everything has been well for you as it has for Z and me.
July 11th, 2006 at 11:14 pm My thoughts on Zidane are documented in the most current post on my blog. Fotball lovers with high bandwidth should not miss it. Re the church woman/deacon, et cetera… bwoy, I have been feeling for some time now that yeah, humans are not infallible and yeah, they are prone to error, but some people are so badly gone wrong that the best thing we could do with them is to put them out of their misery. You know how they slaughter cattle in a high tech slaughter house. Thats what I recommend for the “deacon” and the “pastor”. It soulds like a satanist cult to me, and as such, I will take up Capleton’s cry! Bun dem out! More fire! Hmph! Well thinking citizens need to raze that church building to the ground!
July 12th, 2006 at 5:42 pm Actually MB, many that I know have suggested that the church in question be reduced to cinders by burning!
July 13th, 2006 at 4:32 pm Hey doc - whats up - I will be in OCHI from 24-29 July, in case the breeze blows you that far north, please give me a holla. My family will be with me.
July 15th, 2006 at 12:03 pm I enjoyed the World Cup finals and was bringing Italy to win so I was quite satisfied with the ending. As I read, I wondered what the hell was a Clown Loach! As for the deacon, I don’t even want to talk about it. It is despicable.
July 16th, 2006 at 10:24 am CD, maybe I will take a photo of the one Clown Loach I have left outta the four I bought and post if for you to see. Quite a pretty thing.
