A quickie…..

Posted in General on August 31st, 2006 by Dr. D

Jus a pass chru mekking a quick entry (and exit too!)….I did say it was going to be a quickie! Roight? smily

What is there to report apart from tiyad and busy? Nada mucho. There has been little time this week for a man to scratch him balls get any rest……jus work, and more of the same. Anyway. A so it go…they do claim that it is by the sweat of our brow that we eat bread (and drink VX I suppose). Plans for the bashment next weekend are well underway. Spoke with the caterer today, tables and chairs already ordered, lika been ordered…a sistren buying it from one of our big lika houses for me at staff price….just need to speak to the person who I plan to order a few carrot cakes from. Hope she is up to it as she had surgey about six weeks ago. If not, then I check the other person. Will let y’all know how bashy the bashment turns out to be.

Otherwise……bwoy me a dead fe tomorrow evening come. Not on call this weekend again. Have a good Friday and weekend when it comes. Sorry if I disappointed the ladies with a quickie. Next time me will tan pon it lang! smily smily

Tami and Tanya

Tanya Stephens

So, recently I have been hearing a few of Tami Chin’s songs playing on the radio. Perhaps you all have too… if not, you can hear some of them at her MySpace site. Click pon de link and give her a listen and then come back nuh?

So, What do you all think? The songs are ok, I guess. Sorta average stuff… truthfully, I am not that impressed! Yow, she does looks the part, but can she really sing!smily

What I am not sure of yet is whether Tami is really “not-all-that-hot” vocally or whether the shit she has been singing just hasn’t called upon her to really let her voice out. That is something I would like to know!

The next thing though is her lyrics… they are wishy washy… just the same ole same ole that everybody else is putting out. smily

You know what she (and indeed, many of the other female singers in Jamaica) need to do? They need to turn to Tanya Stephens!

Yow, I believe that Tanya Stephens is the greatest female song writer out there now… she writes some really wikid lyrics, man. The other women need to link her and check her to write some songs for them, because no matter how much they wine up themselves and sing about how they ‘got what we need’, lyrically speaking, they don’t.

At the same time, Tanya is not the greatest singer we have out there. For some of her songs, she sounds good, but for some, she sounds too nasal, you know. She should keep singing, but at the same time, she should start putting stuff out for the other women! After all, she will still make a money that way and the public can only benefit from such an arrangement.

Thats what I think anyway…

Chillaxing…

Posted in General on August 27th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, not sure who I first heard use that term, but essentially, this is the first Sunday in weeks that I am not on call, nuh have nuh rass meeting fe attend, so man deh yah inna him boxers, a loaf. Woke up late…..8:30. Had a lazy cuppa Earl Grey tea while preparing a nice breakfast…fried sprats, some stir fried cabbage with okras, onion, tomato, scotch bonnett pepper and thyme, and some fried bambinis (mini bammies). Washed that down with some apple juice and it did its trick…..full belly and moved the gas. That should hol me until dinner….have a piece o beef seasoned that I going pot roast inna the dutchie, cook some seasoned rice and veggies, and a it dat. To some of you that may not sound like much of a way to chillax, but when I have nothing definite in the agenda for a Sunday, cooking doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, it is something that I do get some enjoyment from.

So what else is planned for the chillaxing day? Well, some sleep may well get squeezed in as the present weather dictates stay inside and get cozy…or even better….horizontal! smily Why so? Well, just in case you haven’t heard, Hurricane Ernesto is in the vicinity. But I not too worried for us here in Ja based on the track it seems to be taking since late yesterday. It a move kinda northward….perhaps it fraid o we…Stunner and Charles said they were doing anti-rain dances. I took a more yardie approach and tell it two good bumbocleat! I think we will be alright…..perhaps some heavy rains later, but I doubt that we will have any major blowjob. Right now, we nuh need none o dat a rass. In any case, the worse weather associated with the system is to its north, so we here on the southern part of Ja shoulda kriss.

At the moment, it is very still and becoming progressively overcast, so perhaps the precipitation will soon start, but like I mentioned earlier…..I think we arite. Hope my bredrin Mad Bull in Cayman will have similar luck. Think they will start having Ernesto visit on the morrows. Anyhow, the shystem is still in our ‘hood, so mek me nuh goat mout our country as these things can change course fast…..gwaan outta sea and romp Ernesto. Leave land alone….and nuh bodda gwaan over the Gulf and gain nuh strength….Florida and Louisiana don’t even waan hear the name blow…much less job.

So, you might have realized that I man been unda some serious work pressha these last weeks…..I tell you. This one in two duty is heavy…but in the same breath, the paycheque for the first month of it was pretty damn sweet. I will soon start making preparations in earnest to change the wheels. I don’t intend to start 2007 in the said cyar a rahtid. Anyhow, as I doh plan to spend the whola day in kitchen, I going log off and go put the pot roast pon the fiyah. You yarides stay dry and safe while the uninvited guest passes chru, and I wish all the bloggers in the near vicinity (MB in particular) lo mismo! Tek it easy and chillax yushelf…cause every little thing…gonna be arite!

Congratulations!

Beenie & D'Angel wedding pic 2

Well, well, well! Beenie Man and D’Angel tied the knot yesterday and I just want to offer them the heartiest congratulations and best wishes! Beenieman is my bredrin for life, you know! Don’t believe me? Man, he and I are tight. Check out my Hi5 friends! Go ahead, check it out! You’ll see, he is listed there as one of my friends! Now would he be there if he wasn’t my bredrin? Come on, now!

(By the way, if you check it out properly, you will notice that Rihanna is there as one of my friends too! Make what you will of that!)

Anyway, what I want to know now is, did Bounti Killa go to the wedding or not?!

Thanks to YardFlex, btw…

SSSS….snake…

Posted in General on August 22nd, 2006 by Dr. D

I tell you…the weekend just gone was busy…with work. Invariably, whenever staffing is short, we get more work. This has resulted in me just being tiyad to rahtid. I was so happy when 8 AM arrived on Monday…meant my name was off the rota. So, I had a relaxed evening yesterday…went walking and buss some sweat. Came here in the night for a while, but lacked impetus to post anything on the blog, so I made a few comments, logged off and watched some TV.

I saw scanning through this morning’s Gleaner that the Canadian experts that our Prime Minister had wanted to probe the recent power outage that plunged the island into the dark ages have concurred with the findings of the JPS…..they agree that it was caused by lightening. OK, so, is she now satisfied with the explanation, simply since ‘foreign’ experts have said is so it go? You see, this is one of the things about Jamaica that can piss me off….this dependence on foreign and all things that come from there. We have a country where people are qualified in all sorts of professions, but still we tend to big up anything imported and not infrequently downplay our own. I won’t bodda mention the kinda inflated salaries and heap o incentives offfered to these imports. More public funds flushed down the toilet like crap. Anyway, let us hope some light has been shed on what truly caused the darkness so that some sort of corrective measures can be implemented to ensure that the likelihood of this happening again is small, if not non-existent. Am I being a bit too expectant here?

Changing gears somewhat. Last week, one night I was watching some National Geographic Channel….now, I am sure that those of you who read here long enough know that me and anything serpentine….that being snake, doh ‘gree. In fact, I will go as far as to say that I would almost qualify as having a phobia for snakes. My initial response to those creatures is to chop up dem rass wid cutlass….’cause as far as I am concrened, dem nuh serve nuh good purpose here on earth…eradicate dem all. They have represented evil since Biblical days. Anyway, you get the idea…me and dem nuh tek tea.

Well, guess what? Apparently, it has become quite popular for some Americans to be importing Burmese Pythons into the US as PETS! Now, these mofos get so some rass sizes….all fourteen foot! smily They are non-venomous..fine. BUT, they strangle their prey and then swallow them whole, and have very sharp teeth. Evidently, the critters have been released into the wild by some of their owners when they get over sized, or some simply escape, and they apparently have been having some sort of breed-a-thon in the Everglades. These monsters have even been starting to feast on the animal that everyine used to big up as King of the Everglades…the crocodile!

As if that wasn’t enough, folks also seem to think that Nile Monitor Lizards are cute as well….(ask me how so?)… and have been keeping those as pets. When they start to get oversized and want plenty flesh to eat, they too are starting to run wild and breed up in the ‘Glades. Well, these monsters look like mini relics from prehistoric dinosaur times…and you know who would not be setting foot near the waters of the Everglades….seems they have real problem developing on their hands there. My suggestion would be that the government there ban the importation of these reptilian creatures…mek dem stay weh dem deh. Thank God, least here in Ja. we not too badly off in the serpent department.

Anyway, enough of me and my dislike of snakes…..it is time to get ready for work. BTW, planning for the Baptism/Birthday bashment on Sept. 9 is coming along well. ‘Till next time.

Its a new MJW!

NEW_MISS_JAMAICA_WORLD.jpg

Congratulations to Miss Jamaica World 2006, Sara Lawrence! Congratulations also to her runners up, Christelle Harris and Zahra McGraham!

top_five.jpg

Here is another picture showing the top five. Fourth place went to Gillian Taylor and fifth place to Chantal Raymond. Well, my predictions for the Miss Jamaica World were not all that far off! Christelle Harris, didn’t win, but she placed second!

The new Miss Jamaica World, Sara Lawrence, was also mentioned in the comments to a post over at my blog.

Cool Destiny, of “Patience is a Virtue” is the person who singled out the eventual winner, so congratulations, Cool Destiny. CD, since it seems that you have a discerning eye, I hereby offer to make you an honorary judge of all the beauty pageants covered on my blogs. If you accept the position, we will confer and consult each other and arrive at our judgements, and we can co-author our opinions. The resulting posts can be run on both our sites. What say you, CD? I think we could have some fun with this. Let me know, ok?

Since recent commenter Afroditee (see comments to my last MJW post) is so against beauty pageants, I suggest that we bring her on board as a judge too, that way we can lead her to acceptance, understanding, and soon, love of all things pageantry, glitz and glamour.

After all, we are the Borg! Afroditee, you will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Hail up….

Posted in General on August 17th, 2006 by Dr. D

Yeah, I’m still around, though a bit incognito…time and energy simply not sufficient to be any more regular than I am at the moment…so no apologies really….when you see mi….you see mi…zimi!?

What is happening? Well, apart from the four letter word called WORK…and plenty o dat deh ’bout….(never fails when the unit gets short staffed….as even at full staffing…we can still be errr…short….not the best term to use when you name man…)….I am now planning a likkle bashment of sorts. Wah mek? Well, guess wah? Next month, my sister and Bro-In-Law will be bringing my neice who is now about fourteen months old, to Jamrock. I guess she is still a bit too young to ‘discover’ the place from which her roots took hold…but that is really not the purpose of the trip. She is coming to be Baptized. The Wee One is going to be sprinkled with Holy Water on Saturday September 9 at 4 PM. Now, it is no coincidence that the following day, marks the anniversary of the day when mankind was blessed with my arrival here in the Kingdom! smily Yeah man…sometimes a rude bwoy haffi exhalt himself….nuh true? Jus cool.

So, in order to make both occasions grand, I have decided that we will be having a dinner reception/party yahso at de yard after. At midnite, all who linger on (and y’all free to do so) can wish me Happy Birthday, while tipping back a number of your favourite beverages. smily So far, the list of invitees is pushing fifty odd, so some catering, rental of chairs and tables etc. going haffi tek place.

I am looking forward to it, just send up some supplications to the Almighty, that nutten naw swirl and blow breeze inna de Atlantic. You see, the last time Rufie, my sis, came for my birthday, Ivan, the master of blowjobs, (and him all have de wrong gender to rass) was doing his thing…hence, it was not quite an occasion that made me curl my toes and breathe heavy sighs of bliss, staring at the birthday cake with no electricity and wondering if the next gust was a go tek weh de blurdcleat roof! So, we naw defend dat rahtid dis time. Let me knock wood still….seems that this year we might hold a ease……doh talk too loud still. Like I say, I a look forward to it as it has been a while since the clan has had a nice gathering.

On the work scene, I enjoyed yesterday afternoon’s clinic. I saw five new patients, all with nice clinical stuff…not the usual mundane crap. It is nice when patients come with stuff that can test your clinical acumen, makes things less boring.

Monday morning, I was looking through a drawer to try to find a document…which I still haven’t found, but, I stumbled across suppem else….. two bills that I didn’t know I had. Now 2G is not a hell of a lot of money, but it can put some gas in de cyar, or buy some VX, so I was happy for it. So, the week started off with a bit of luck. Wonder what the upcoming weekend might hold? I not tarrying for any longer though, as today is going to be a hell of a day at work….have a mammoth skin graft to do and a yute to be admitted…..feel sorry fe him still…maybe I will mention him in my next post….whenever that is. Tek it easy my crew.

MJW Time Again

Posted in Interesting Stuff on August 17th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Yes, ppl, Miss Jamaica World (MJW) is in the air once again. Click here to have a look at the ladies.

Ok, let me tell you straight. Christelle Harris is Mad Bull Endorsed! Based on the pictures on the “MJW” website, I think she will win the competition. I can’t speak to the Miss World yet, because I have no idea what the ladies from elsewhere in the world will look like, but I’m ‘bringing’ (I have selected) Christelle to win at home.

Of course, you will have those who feel that she is not a true representative of a Jamaican woman because she is light skinned and 95% or so of Jamaican women are darker skinned than she is. To these people I say that she is a Jamaican woman, she born and grow deh! Her mother born and grow deh! Her grandparents pon her mothers side born and grow deh! I don’t really know her father, but if you check it, him and his parents probably born and grow deh too! Remember the motto of the country: “Out of many, one people.”

Personally, I feel that much of the dissatisfaction of the majority of Jamaicans when a light skinned beauty queen is selected is that they feel like there is a tendency for people to believe that black people don’t look as nice as lighter skinned people. It may be true that people believe this, and it may not, but I suggest that selecting a dark skinned woman over a light skinned woman who is prettier is not the way to combat this notion. If you feel that the darker skinned ladies are not getting properly represented, make it your duty to try to convince the beautiful dark women to enter the contest! Get Carla Campbell to enter then! Get somebody else that looks as irie as Terri-Karelle Griffith, who won last year to enter then! Go and search for another Cathy Levy, or an Imani Duncan or another Lisa Hanna! Trust me! Dem out deh! Oonoo go and get dem fi enter! If you aren’t actively seeking to get the hottest dark skinned ladies to enter, then don’t complain when a light skinned girl gets selected!

At the same time, I don’t want you to misconstrue what I am saying! I am not saying that the darker skinned girls in this year’s competition not “saying anything” (don’t look good). “Tings a gwaan fi dem too!” (They are looking good as well). Its just that more “tings a gwaan fi” Christelle!

Other ladies I like in the competition are Leontre Roberts (though she is too young, and she sort of short too), Lacian Roache and Tanesha/Tashana Wright (They have different names for her on different pages… and she is too young too!)

So, what the rest of oonoo think? Say exactly what you feel, you know! Even if you disagree with me, I still love you

Terrorist Attack Dog

Posted in Interesting Stuff on August 13th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Ok, ok, so in todays world, people aren’t really training dogs to fight against your ordinary robber anymore. No sah, nowadays you need a dog to rush terrorists! Its logical, nuh true? As such, I was doing a YouTube search on dogs and came up with this little gem.

If you actually go to the Youtube site to watch this, they say the dog is trained to fight terrorists. Anyway, what really caught my eye with this video was the way the dog attacked and the man just sidestepped it at the last instant and the dog went flying by. I thought it was kind of funny! smily

Seeing that little clip brought to mind a little story still. I remember… please click on the link below to continue…
