So, recently I have been hearing a few of Tami Chin’s songs playing on the radio. Perhaps you all have too… if not, you can hear some of them at her MySpace site. Click pon de link and give her a listen and then come back nuh?
So, What do you all think? The songs are ok, I guess. Sorta average stuff… truthfully, I am not that impressed! Yow, she does looks the part, but can she really sing!
What I am not sure of yet is whether Tami is really “not-all-that-hot” vocally or whether the shit she has been singing just hasn’t called upon her to really let her voice out. That is something I would like to know!
The next thing though is her lyrics… they are wishy washy… just the same ole same ole that everybody else is putting out. 
You know what she (and indeed, many of the other female singers in Jamaica) need to do? They need to turn to Tanya Stephens!
Yow, I believe that Tanya Stephens is the greatest female song writer out there now… she writes some really wikid lyrics, man. The other women need to link her and check her to write some songs for them, because no matter how much they wine up themselves and sing about how they ‘got what we need’, lyrically speaking, they don’t.
At the same time, Tanya is not the greatest singer we have out there. For some of her songs, she sounds good, but for some, she sounds too nasal, you know. She should keep singing, but at the same time, she should start putting stuff out for the other women! After all, she will still make a money that way and the public can only benefit from such an arrangement.
Thats what I think anyway…

August 30th, 2006 at 9:04 am Tami has a new video (well new to me, I just saw it last week) and she look wicked in it. Was in some Jamaican colours get-up, looked very dance-hally, looked good. About the singing, don’t really know either.
August 31st, 2006 at 2:41 pm Tanya Stevens is the ultimate lyricist. Her voice is unique and distinct, which to me will make for longevity. I do belive that poor Tammy, if and when the breakthrough des happen, will be a flash in the pan.

September 2nd, 2006 at 1:26 pm tanya is excellent. I believe that her last album gangsta blues is one of the best dancehall albums ever up there with Til Shiloh. I just bought her new offering the other day actually. Tami Chin seems to be getting by on looks but then looking at alot of the new female artists in other genres and hearing their works the same can also be said
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:43 pm Agree with the view that Tami is just looks…she not really any great talent IMHO….then again, like JDid said, nuff o dem so called artiste nowadays fall into the same category. Midia hype is wah mek dem. Gie dem five years max….if that long….kinda like how dem mek de cyar dem nowadays…short lived. Tanya S….classic lyrics, unique voice…she will last.
