Suppem to make you smile….

…well at least I hope so.

Thought I woulda share a likkle joke sent to me by a sistren.

A Jamaican man and his ever-nagging Trini wife went on vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there, the wife passed away. The undertaker told the husband, “You can have her shipped to Trinidad for $5,000, you can bury her here, in the Holy Land, for $150.”

The man thought
about it and told him he would just have her shipped home. The undertaker asked, “Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your wife to calypso land, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only $150?”
The man replied, “Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and
three days later he rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance.”smily

I thought it wasn’t three bad… Not a hell of a lot to share oddawise….so tek care. Or, in the evnt that you have nutten better to do, perhaps you can go follow what de one Mad Bull seh him a was a gwaan wid AT WORK TO RA$$!!! smily Nuh wonder de man seh him a change jobs! smily Jus cool my yute…..

On de bus….

Posted in General on September 24th, 2006 by Dr. D

Now, onoo mussi wondering is wah kinda oil dem rub pon me, dat mek me post two time in one weekend. But, I had fe lick dis one wid all o you. Am here having breakfast before I head up to the hospital for my Sunday AM round and prips the Sunday Gleaner on line while having the grub to move the gases. I come across an article which has me saying to myself….’Thank God I am not into bus tekking anymore…..” Nevertheless, I do know people who have to use public transport and empathize with them. Read the article and I am sure you will be equally unhappy.

In all fairness to JUTC drivers though, I hope that this is not the typical driver here. Most of the ones I have come across in my driving seem pretty cautious on the road, though I must admit that there are times that when the buses come around corners, they can do so at pretty high speed and with a serious momentum. Anyway, I hope that the management of the JUTC looks into this further. Careful when you tek bus, drive, walk….whatever. Sigh.

Here at last…..

Yowah! I know you might be wondering if the recent heavy rains that we have been having in the afternoons here wash weh mi rass, but no, nutten like that has come to pass, I have just been busy to rahtid. No time to write a post, though when I get the chance I have been dropping comments here and there at the sites I check.

Last weekend was a busy one with me being on call and awakened early o’clock by the hospital with the news that one of our patients was not looking good. So, I managed to drag miself outta bed early pon a Saturday morning, gulped down a cuppa tea and rushed up there without even holding a fresh. Nevertheless, Mr. C really looked liked him time was a draw nigh, and indeed, it did. He did arrest in front of me and resuscitation attempts proved futile. After twenty minutes and no joy, I called it quits and pronounced him. Sad. He’s a patient I knew from when I began working in my Unit some ten plus years ago. A victim of poor social circumstances and chronic disease that was difficult to control. I hope he will find eternal rest in the Lord’s house.

What else a gwaan? RAIN!! Man, I tiyad fe tell people seh September, the month when mankind was blessed with my arrival here in the Kingdom smily is rainsville! The skies have literally been pissing like a man who has been imbibing Red Stripe Beer non-stop in the afternoons. Consequently the road surfaces have become riddled with even more potholes craters and if you are unlucky enough to be caught driving at the time when said pissing is occurring, be prepared to navigate your vehicle well as the roads become seasonal rivers due to improper drainage. Suppose you see the road me live pon now…..my road actually behaves like a natural river bed for the area in which I reside, hence whole heap o rockstone, dirt and rubble is again piling up in my corner of the ‘hood after being washed down from the hill above us. Last year during heavy rains in September to October….said effry took place and it took the agencies responsible some nine months to get a bulldozer to move the crap. Well, like Arnold, the rockstone dem a seh……”We’re baaack!” Sigh. Another thing, the heap o water is causing the mosquitoes (a rass scourge on the land) to multiply as if sex deh pon sale in some bargain basement to blurdcleat! How I hate the likkle beasts! smily

Anyway, some good does come out of these rather wet times…it cools the place down making for pleasant temperatures in the night, and of course, the hills are again an emerald green.

On other topics, preparations are taking place for me to go to Bim for our regional annual dermatology meeting, first week of November. I’m the tiyad Secretary of the association going four years in office now. Well, guess wah, I man stepping down this year. Time to let someone else shovel the shyte. Any of you who have been the Secretary of any association will realize that as an executive position, it involves the most of kill dead work. Well, the workhorse waan go eat some grass and trouble a posse o mares for some goodly ‘riding’…… smily In addition, I’m doing the bleaching talk at the meeting, which needs to be brushed up a bit, so free time is not that plentiful. Again this accounts for my absence.

That’s about all I haffi seh right now. Me on call dis weekend as well. (Knocking board)….things been pretty reasonable so far, so later I suppose fe go check a bredrin who roping in some peeps (dudes and dudettes) up him yard for a lime. Its not too far from the hospital in case they need me, so me suppose fe kriss. Enjoy your Saturday nite.

Gyptian’s CD Stinks!

Gyptian

Bwoy, based on the songs that he put out recently, I rated Gyptian, after all, “Serious Times” was a wicked, wicked song to ra$$. Yes Rasta, I was expecting big things… Coupla days ago, a bredrin from work said to me “MB, me have Gyptian’s new album, you know, a bredrin give me a rip. You want me share me harddrive and you copy it off?”.
Of course, you know my answer, right? Yes star, I simply followed in the example of the “real” Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course I went with the rip of Gyptian’s album. I am so happy I did!

Listen, Gyptian is too young to sound so dead and boring and sad! Aside from the wicked “Serious Times” and another one about his mother, (can’t remember the name now), the whole album will put you into such a deep sleep that there are severe risks of you getting into a coma from which you cannot be revived! smily

Gyptian sounds like he had ten women and they all ran off with his best friend, star. Sad, moping, depressed… those words tell you how he sounds on the album. I can only hope that his connections do whatever it takes to get this brother out of the funk he obviously is in!

So why was I glad that I got the rip of the album rather than having to go out and buy it? Because if I bought that, SOMEBODY would haffi pay me back, or blood would spill! Awoah! What a piece of shit album! smily

Edwin Yearwood

By the way, I was just watching Tempo and I saw the video of this song by Edwin Yearwood of Krosfyah, it name “Weekend”. The song was lively and fresh, I really liked it. About the only thing I didn’t like was the eediat black/blonde look that Edwin was sporting. Him need to lose that ra$$! Edwin, is eedah or either, bredrin! If you click on the link, you can watch the video online and tell me what you think. smily

Gyptian, if you ever read this, go watch Edwin’s video, bredrin, it ought to cheer you up! Also, you fi use it as an example of how the music you put out should sound: Uptempo and lively, Star! Straight!

Miss World is Coming Up!

Posted in Entertaining on September 16th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Yes, my crew! The Miss World Competition is approaching fast! Let me tell you who I like from the Caribbean today, and I will give you my choices from elsewhere anodda time. Mighty Afroditee, Gela and Cool Destiny, please give me your input in the comments to this one, cool?

Ok, first things first. The Miss World people dem don’t consider Guyana to be part of the Caribbean, but I do. Consequently I will include Miss Guyana in the Caribbean Region, not in the Americas where they have her. If you want to look at the ladies from the Caribbean region that I havent included here, or if you want to see more pictures of those I have included, click here…

I am not going to give you tons of details about the whys and wheretofores of my selections because I consider that my selections should stand on their own, ie. they would be most people’s selections. Also, I am lazy to type all of that.

Here goes!

The ladies I like in the Caribbean section are as follows (in alphabetical order) :

aruba.jpg
Miss Aruba

bahamas.jpg
Miss Bahamas

guyana.jpg
Miss Guyana

martinique.jpg
Miss Martinique

pr.jpg
Miss Puerto Rico

I like the ladies above. Now, you can go check out the ladies of the Caribbean and suggest those you like in the comments.

Of thes ladies above, I am unable to select only one! I therefore will tell you the two I pick as my choice for Queen of the Caribbean! They are Miss Aruba and Miss Guyana! Congratulations, ladies!

Of course, since Miss World puts Guyana in the Americas, I guess what I am saying is that I expect Miss Aruba to run things in the Caribbean, but if Miss Guyana is included, it would have to be solved by a coin toss for me…

Ok, your turn now… Diga me.

Late..but a so it go…

Well, I know some of you are wondering how come I haven’t written anything about the weekend…..time just hasn’t allowed my peeps. Started the week tired from Saturday’s bashment and then have been on call and the referrals just won’t stop coming in. Got to the point where I considered shutting the rass phone down on Tuesday night, but that sorta behaviour is not acceptable. When I am dozing off at 12:15 AM it rings again and is them (the hospital) but luckily it was not a call requiring me to physically go. Anyhow, I’m here now.

The dinner went well and all who attended enjoyed it. The food was good too. Starters were some saltfish fritters and a fish soup……all now I doh know how the soup tasted! Main course was BBQ chicken, roast pork and escoveitched fish with rice and peas, macaroni and cheese and steamed veggies as well as a vegetable salad. Choice of chocolate, plain or carrot cake for dessert. Lika of all manner flowed…..nuff leave over to be killed whenever. As the Baptism of my neice had people out from 4 PM Saturday, the last of my bredrins left the yard at about 12:30 AM Sunday after tipping back some birthday drinks. Anyway, it is all over and the house is back to its quiet state as all the visitors have returned north. I wish Rufie could have stayed a bit longer….but, a so it go.

Got myself some presents…..some nice wine bottle stoppers, a small clock, a Jamaica Polo shirt that I can don at my next football match, a bottle of Bvalgri (cologne), and a bottle of Yellow Tail Merlot. Yesterday I paid the caterer, so the party bills have been covered. All in all, I had a good time. Don’t know when next I will be having anything quite as grand, it takes too much outta you to host these things properly.

Scanning through this morning’s Gleaner, I saw an article stating that wives and significant others of gangstas in Colombia have decided to ‘lock up shop’ and deny their men of the goodly stuff, in an attempt to get them to turn in their guns. Hmmmm…I thought, I wonder how effective that will turn out to be, as the man dem could always handle dem ‘guns’ demself or get some odda woman to pull their triggers….nuh true!? Never mind…is jus me being bad. Anyhow, I’m off to the boyz room, so tek care ’till next time.

Respec’ to all crew. Bwoy, there are so many tings going on, and yet I have no time right now to sit and chat with oonoo. I know you all are thinking that I am ignoring you though and I don’t want you to feel that way. I tell you what, I am going to give you a couple of jokes. These ought to tide you over till I can get some time and some worthwhile content together for you…

Busted!

Dave works hard at the plant and spends two nights each week bowling and he also plays golf every Saturday. His wife thinks he’s pushing himself too hard, so for his birthday she takes him to a local strip club.

Uh oh! Where do I line up to get a wife like that then?

Of course, there is more…

Stick Men and Soccer…

Posted in Entertaining on September 9th, 2006 by Mad Bull

Hey all… g’morning. I came back across this link to an all-time classic, Stick Men Fighting… its a Flash animation of some men fighting, using martial arts. It is reminiscent of those kung fu movies that used to abound in the ’80s and the early 90’s.

stickfighting.jpg

Click on the picture above to go and watch the fight. Trust me, if you haven’t seen it before, you really should, you’ll love it! If you have seen it, you will still love it, so go watch it again! smily

In other news, I read today that the Corporate Area’s premier schoolboy football competition, the Manning Cup kicks off today with a match between defending champion, Calabar High School and St. Georges College. Apparently the ST.Georges crew are feeling that this year could be their year to make it 18 holds on the prestigious trophy! I wish them the very best! Tear Calabar apart! Rend them limb from limb! Er… maybe I should tone down the violent rhetoric, they might take me seriously… smily

Just push nuff ball into the C-Bar bwoy dem net, you hear? Esss Teee Geee Ceeeee!!!!!

Deh yah!

Posted in General on September 7th, 2006 by Dr. D

Well, I am here a bit late, but better late then never…nuh true? I’ve decided that I am reaching work a bit later than usual this AM….haffi stop at the bank and mek a deposit. But also, Rufie and company arrive later today…whoopie! smily So, there will be sounds of a wee one around the house as of sometime this afternoon. Preparations are in full swing for Saturday…the bar is well stocked overstocked, and all plans are go for the catering, cakes etc. Chairs and tables are to be delivered tomorrow. Weather has been a bit on the wet side in these last afternoons, but yes, it is September and wet is the norm for the month of my birth. Hopefully it won’t be too wet for too long on Saturday evening…..anyway, we jus haffi work wid it. I try not to fret about shyte over which I have no control.

On a slightly different note, yesterday morning while getting ready for work, I heard a familiar sound….the sort of drumming of our local woodpeckers feeding. There I am in my room, about to pull on my undies (sorry ladies…no pics) and I look through the window to see a ‘Woody’ perched in the Julie mango tree just outside my room window. I recall immediately that JDid had once made a comment on my site when I had mentioned these birds, that he had no idea that we had woodpeckers here in Jamrock. Well, I decided that I should provide him with some pictorial evidence. So, I rush to get a hold of my camera….with spare parts dangling free (hadn’t put on the drawers yet!) and I slowly move towards the window to snap him. Just as I am about to tek the shot, the bird nuh fly outta de tree! smily (I wonda if is the sight of my nakedness dat did frighten him rass?) Seems is more than one that was in the hood, as I heard the loud call of anodda one. Anyway, maybe it was a mate calling him…so probably he was going to get some of the goodly stuff…. Thus, sorry I have no pic to share JDid. But I will keep on looking out for him.

Am almost finished with breakfast, which was a ham sandwich made with whole wheat pita bread, two slices of paw paw (papaya), and a guava from the tree in the yard. The guava is really lovely, I tell you, not too ripe either….I like them that way. The tree is bearing in earnest and the recent rains have caused the fruits to swell up big like a man who a get the right kinda rubbins! a paper towel in water! I will continue to enjoy these exotic fruits while the bearing lasts.

Maybe none of you noticed, but on a few of my previous posts, I was hit by the spam commentors this morning! Fasseys had dropped about ten shyte comments on one of my posts to blurdcleat! smily Anyhow, I deleted them. Haffi run still….I hope none of you rate dah post yah as a quickie still….all some o de blog man dem start mek fun o me. Hope dis one was long nuff for the ladies. If not, then maybe a round two is in order. Last but not least, you all invited to wish me happy birthday and leave the presents this Sunday! smily More time.
