Deh yah!
Well, I am here a bit late, but better late then never…nuh true? I’ve decided that I am reaching work a bit later than usual this AM….haffi stop at the bank and mek a deposit. But also, Rufie and company arrive later today…whoopie!
So, there will be sounds of a wee one around the house as of sometime this afternoon. Preparations are in full swing for Saturday…the bar is well stocked overstocked, and all plans are go for the catering, cakes etc. Chairs and tables are to be delivered tomorrow. Weather has been a bit on the wet side in these last afternoons, but yes, it is September and wet is the norm for the month of my birth. Hopefully it won’t be too wet for too long on Saturday evening…..anyway, we jus haffi work wid it. I try not to fret about shyte over which I have no control.
On a slightly different note, yesterday morning while getting ready for work, I heard a familiar sound….the sort of drumming of our local woodpeckers feeding. There I am in my room, about to pull on my undies (sorry ladies…no pics) and I look through the window to see a ‘Woody’ perched in the Julie mango tree just outside my room window. I recall immediately that JDid had once made a comment on my site when I had mentioned these birds, that he had no idea that we had woodpeckers here in Jamrock. Well, I decided that I should provide him with some pictorial evidence. So, I rush to get a hold of my camera….with spare parts dangling free (hadn’t put on the drawers yet!) and I slowly move towards the window to snap him. Just as I am about to tek the shot, the bird nuh fly outta de tree!
(I wonda if is the sight of my nakedness dat did frighten him rass?) Seems is more than one that was in the hood, as I heard the loud call of anodda one. Anyway, maybe it was a mate calling him…so probably he was going to get some of the goodly stuff…. Thus, sorry I have no pic to share JDid. But I will keep on looking out for him.
Am almost finished with breakfast, which was a ham sandwich made with whole wheat pita bread, two slices of paw paw (papaya), and a guava from the tree in the yard. The guava is really lovely, I tell you, not too ripe either….I like them that way. The tree is bearing in earnest and the recent rains have caused the fruits to swell up big like a man who a get the right kinda rubbins! a paper towel in water! I will continue to enjoy these exotic fruits while the bearing lasts.
Maybe none of you noticed, but on a few of my previous posts, I was hit by the spam commentors this morning! Fasseys had dropped about ten shyte comments on one of my posts to blurdcleat!
Anyhow, I deleted them. Haffi run still….I hope none of you rate dah post yah as a quickie still….all some o de blog man dem start mek fun o me. Hope dis one was long nuff for the ladies. If not, then maybe a round two is in order. Last but not least, you all invited to wish me happy birthday and leave the presents this Sunday!
More time.

September 13th, 2006 at 2:55 pm Why are people so surprised that there are woodpeckers in Jamaica? When I was growing up in rural Clarendon they were plentiful. Are they considered to be extinct in Jamaica?
