Scarce nuh rass….

Yes, I know I am but I told y’all it was going to be like that. Jus a whole heap o tings a gwaan consuming my time….and as much as I enjoy the interaction, blogging is way down in terms of its priority…..

Anyway, here I am trying to put some words together while having some beef soup fe mi dinner. I see fasta dan lightening Asafa P has been nominated for a Laureus Award to rahtid. Hope you get it my yute……you been up to some good stuff. And of course, all kinda preparations are in gear for the not too far away World Cup Cricket. I still naw feel nuh vibes ’bout it as cricket has never been up there as a sport for me. Maybe that has just a little to do with the fact that when I was about fifteen, one summer day when all of us were on holidays from school we decided to play a ’scrimmage’ cricket match next door. I was fielding at the time. A ball was bowled and the yute who was at the crease gave the ball one claat of a lick (woulda been a six). Now, the ball was coming right in my corner of the ‘hood (thats a pun btw, you’ll soon find out why). Not wanting to let my side down, I made a valiant attempt to stop the ball preventing the yute from getting more than one run. The ball bounced a few yards in front of me (and dat rass was real!) and the next thing I knew was that MY BALLS felt as if they had been licked for six!!!! Man never have nuh seed guard, so de bredrins can understand my agony…..

I fell to the ground and curled up in pain feeling for my jewels as I thought they might have been torn out from their usual scrotal skin! Luckily they weren’t but that was the last day that I got friendly with a cricket ball. So much for cricket balls, or balls of another type….. Anyhow, with all the expenditure that is taking place for us to host this in the region, I hope we will see some positive economic returns.

The weather has become very hot in the last two days. Up to weekend gone, the nights were still nice and cool, but some heat a lick now…felt like summer this afternoon and the place well dry. A shower of rain would be welcome now. Anyway, as I done nyam mi dinner and I runnin outta wah fe seh (this was really supposed to be a hail up) I flashing again….till when next…and I have no clue when that will be. Tek care…..

Had a similar incident in 2nd form when the cricket ball broke my front tooth in half. No more cricket after that. I guess not being much of a fan to begin with and then being forced to play and the resulting damage is enough of a turn off…

Doc: Your mention of beef soup put my nostalgia engine on overdrive. When I was growing up in Clarendon, my aunt would make beef soup every Saturday. She’d leave out early to May Pen Market, and we’d listen for the bust to stop at our gate and see her getting off. Then we’d run to greet her and help her bring all the stuff she bought into the kitchen. Quick, quick that iron pot would be on the wood fire. Before you knew it there’d be beef soup filled with pumpkin, dumplings, yam, chocho, Irish and sweet potatoes, coco, dasheen, etc. being ladled into little enamel bowls. No meal in North America served at a five-star restaurant tastes as sweet or as satisfying. The thing is, when I make it here, it’s good but not the same. So enjoy!!

I am a sometimes cricket fan. My Dad encouraged my interest in it. In his view cricket was a gentlemans game!! So, I always asked him why was so into it then ) I am sorry I won’t be hope to island hop for it though. The vibes should be nice. Although the last time I was home the state of the airport in Kingston did not look like they were at all ready for any international event and it did not seem they were any where near ready either! I wonder how it is now?

The way you spoke of cricket before, I did not realise you had played some form of it. Well, I guess the six still hurts.

I’m not a cricket fan, suh I don’t feel the slightest cricket buzz. I got a connect from a cricket ball once and that was it! good thing it wasn’t my non-cricket balls! Good to hear from yuh in Blogsville, although I have been absent myself. I dropped a new post, I’m sure you’ll like it!

Hey Doc - Thanks for your comment on my site - the office is ok - things are getting busier as time goes along. One thing I need to do is to set up my accounting system properly - before there was little to account for, but now its time. Remember I will be there in May, so hopefully we can have a drink if the season is not too silly.
