A quick shout….
How everybody been doing? I am fine despite my absence. I have been doing much more reading than writing, and I must say I am liking it that way. No pressha to post nutten!
I have been intrigued in the last few days by the song of a bird that starts about 5:30 in the mornings, it is soo beautiful…..also sometimes hear it in the evenings if I am home early enough. Have no idea what the bird looks like or its name but it is lovely.
I see Lara resigning…..do I hear some applause? Well, he never was one to get a great rating from me, but then again, neither does cricket do so with me as a sport…… If I not mistaken, a semi final match playing at Sabina on Tuesday…I wonder if there is going to be any hype surrounding it?
Bucked up into a female Doc this week while having lunch. Now girl graduated a year before me, and has been working in jolly ole Henglan for a few years. I did not recognize her. This is a black young woman and the first thing I noticed about her (this is before I found out who she was) was the head of false ‘tall’ hair, the very long false eyelashes, the plastic talons she was sporting as fingernails, and the heavy base of makeup that she had on her face… it looked like a mask. Ugh! I was with a sistren/colleague (Diana) eating and she blurted out in the most deep British accent…..’Hi Diana!’ She went on to tell Diana that she was in Jamaica for a few days as ‘Dad’ wasn’t doing so well, and was in the hospital. So she came to give ‘Mum’ some support…….Eventually, Diana told her that she hoped ‘Dad’ would improve and she continued on her merry way.
After she left Diana asked me if I didn’t know who she was, to which I replied no. She then reminded me who she was and I was in shock. In fact, my reaction was more like, “Rass! A she dat?” I then said, but her nose……that is not the nose I knew her to have, this one is so small and striaght. Diana replied, ‘That’s right! I heard she had a job done on same.’
Bwoy, I doh know….but some of our people just seem to lose it when dem go tek up residence inna farin! As a man, gimme natural feminine beauty any day over weaved hair, plastic nails, loads of make up, augmented udders that look like dem a go buss, etc.
Today is Friday (as if you didn’t know) and I am off call all weekend. Dr. Spanish is also passing thru from Florida, so I going link him tonite and show him around (not that he is any stranger to what a gwaan in Kingston entertainmentwise)…but it has been a while since we had a good bredrin flex. So, with that note, TGIF, have a good weekend and stay safe while doing what you do to enjoy yourself.

April 20th, 2007 at 8:34 pm Hi doc… some do get rather wrapped up in changing their looks… it is a bit much, however, when they get beyond recognition! Have yourself a good weekend… this is one I’ve been looking forward to… I’m off work, as is my eldest son and hubby… so we can ALL spend some time together.
April 20th, 2007 at 11:33 pm Respec’ Doc. Yow, we haffi bless the udders and call them breasts, after all the dreads dem bless up di pork and call it dat, we cyah mek them more forgiving dan we, c’mon now!
April 21st, 2007 at 1:07 am nails, hair, eyelashes, lawd. I know sometimes we do a little augmenting for a special occasion -no, not talking the breast dem now but a little extra nails, not too long, but the everyday falseness? no sah! Hey MB, fix Doc’s comment box so that I don’t have to keep ticking the ‘remember me’ box nuh? fix it so that my info stays whether or not ah tick the box, just like when ah go on odder blogs.
April 21st, 2007 at 7:49 am lawd!! lil bit mo an she is a mannequin. enjoy ur weekend Doc.
April 21st, 2007 at 3:12 pm She reminds me of my mother’s one and only sis-in-law, accent and all. There’s a deep hate of self that women like her would never admit to.
April 21st, 2007 at 8:05 pm Whats up Doc? We Jamaicans seem to be ashamed of our culture. Unlike other countries who proudly wear their nationality on their sleeve, we seem to what to bend ourselves to theirs.
April 23rd, 2007 at 11:45 am Well, yu know se me is a man whe na discriminate… Me love dem au natural or fix-up…
April 23rd, 2007 at 3:48 pm i guess she wanted to look that way for some reason. must have been shame of her previous looks
April 23rd, 2007 at 10:38 pm it’s the plastic surgery that worries me..some people don’t know when to quit and end up looking grotesque
April 25th, 2007 at 6:49 am What a gwaan? Can’t hear you.
April 25th, 2007 at 6:50 am testing
April 25th, 2007 at 6:53 am @ Gela : It seems to work fine for me? Does anyone else have the problem Gela mentioned?
