Friends

Posted in General on November 15th, 2007 by jdid

When ya is a child ya parents duz tell ya some of all sorts of things in an effort to guide ya in the right path. Well at least mine did. Not so sure bout these two that had their toddlers high on cocaine but that is another story for another time.

I not sure if ya duz absorb all of your parents teachings or even if the most relevant and important ones duz stick in ya head but some do stick while others dont. A so it a go. Still they say repetition is a good way for kids to learn so the more you hear it the more it gets into your subconscious and sometimes long after, even when you didnt realize you had learned the lesson something will happen and all a sudden bram that saying or rule your parents pushed will pop out your head in the relevant situation. I lie?

Well de saying that popped into my head the most lately is the whole be careful who your friends are and who ya hang out with. You can and will get into trouble through wrong association so choose ya friends wisely.

I think of this saying cause of all the recent black celebrities that have been getting into trouble and having their friends and companions turn on them. It happen wid de one Michael Vick, it happen with OJ and it happen with that rapper fella TI de odda day.

Now dont get me wrong here. I honestly feel that all three a these fellas is idiots and guilty and you do the crime you do the time. I also wouldn’t get an complain about any no-snitching rule either cause we tend to use that in and out of place these days. If someone sees a crime in their neighborhood and reports it to the police we shouldn’t be ridiculing them for doing the right thing. Naa I cant condone that stupid sort of thinking.

No is just that when you look at these cases with OJ and the rest you will see that although they were in a bad spot through their own fault, things got worse cause the guys they hung out with, their pals, their comrades in crime just up so and turn on them. Wha dat tell you? They was hanging out with the wrong people!

Yea its not the main point to be gathered from these stories. The main point is that you need to stay away from the criminal acts cause you will get caught. But I know everybody familiar with the main story so I looking at the auxillary wun. Things would have been bad regardless but its got to be even worse when the fellas you was working with to do your thing just up so and turn ad start giving evidence on you. If these fellas had chosen the people they hang out with properly nuttin so wud happen.

What a Gwaan

Some months ago, Sir Trouble wrote an post on plans for impending changes at Cayman Airways. He revealed a dastardly plot to remove Sir Turtle from the tails of all Cayman Airways planes. I was rather distressed by the news and I added my voice to his, decrying the move for being what it was (in our humble opinions) : Dyam Chupid!

Then, on Monday, I received a phone call from my doctor’s office. Apparently they had overcharged me when last I was there, and so the receptionist (a nice looking young lady if ever there was one) called to ask me to drop by to pick up the difference between what they had charged and what they should have charged. I was glad for it. As a matter of fact, when they charged me on the occasion of my last visit, I paid the money over without complaint, but I resolved there and then that I was never going to return! Now that I see that a mistake was made and they have refunded me over half the money, I may well go back. But I digress.

When I was leaving the doctor’s office, I spied a jet flying over, sort of low in the sky, and I looked up at it and thought to myself, “Hmmm… I wonder which airline that is? I don’t recognise the markings on the plane at all, but it looks really nice.”.

Then, in today’s newspaper, I saw that the airplane with the irie looking markings is in fact Cayman Airways! They have gone ahead and done the rebranding, and guess what? I like it!

Now check this out! Sir Turtle is not dead! (Thank God!) Far from it! He has been moved from the tail to a spot on the fuselage near to the front doors. The new graphic which replaced him on the tail section was inspired by the Caymanian Coat of Arms, they say, and trust me, it looks sweet! Here is a close up view of the tail.

So, what all yuh think of the new look Cayman Airways?

In other news, I went on vacation today and will be out of office until next week Tuesday! ) Sweet, huh? Yeah, bubu, I go be chillin’ at my yard with a pretty damsel! Does it get any better than this? Actually, I can think of one or two scenarios where it could get better, like maybe I could have tickets for two to some irie, romantic destination, like for instance a likkle cottage in Negril, or maybe I could be chillin’ at my yard with TWO OR THREE damsels (whom I get to pick! ), both of whom have nothing on their mind but to maximise my pleasure, but as things stand right now, I must say they are quite satisfying. )
Today went pretty well too…. nice and relaxing, and Natty and I went to the gym together! That was fun, especially the “together” part. If she decides that she wants to continue with the gym, we won’t be able to go together because we won’t have anyone to keep an eye on MBJr. while we are gone. Yeah, I know, you have heard of this issue before, but why not, it permeates every aspect of our lives! Check this out! They are showing “American Gangster” and “Why did I get married?” at the movie theatre here and I would like to see both of them, and guess what? Same issue! Its actually becoming a bit tiresome! (

People, I must say that I am on the verge of doing something momentous about it! I am going to phone my family members and demand that they all move to Grand Cayman so that they can be on hand to help out a brother in need or they will face my wrath!! Why, I’ll… I’ll… I’ll write them out of my will, thats what I’ll do! And if any of them laugh at me over that, I’ll… I’ll… I’ll cry! Yeah! That ought to do it!

Ok, so that probably won’t work, but I will think of something! They’ll see!

Anyways, I don’t have anything glamorous planned for my vacation but I suspect I will enjoy it anyway. To make it a little more irie, maybe we can get a reprieve from the cold front that has been giving us a good blow job for awhile so that I can go to the beach down by West Bay Public Beach. Thats like my favourite spot.

Listen, I man gone, you hear. I am going to go shoot a little pool. Talk to you again. Peace.

Nice Teeth!

Posted in General on October 29th, 2007 by Mad Bull

Found this photo while surfing through PartySurfers.ky this morning and was struck by the beautiful smiles on these ladies. What lovely teeth they have. I also like their dresses… and the “chain” on the lady on the right! -)
Yes, rasta, she knows how to accessorise perfectly for that outfit. By the way, the photo is from the group taken at the Hieneken Green Synergy finals in Jamaica. I guess those are Jamaicans rather than Caymanians. Most likely, huh? Here is a picture of another interesting looking Jamaican lady, but this time I cannot comment on her teeth. She won the Jamaica Star’s “Femme Fashion” competition last week.

Anyway, not too much to report this morning except apparently the whole island will be aswarm with the Honduran Green Iguana, Dengue Fever seems to be rearing its ugly head and it looks like we are in for nuff, nuff rain… generally speaking, whatever lick Jamdown always comes on over to us shortly afterwards! Cho, me tired of the blasted rain! ? ??:

How Was Your Weekend?

Posted in How Awful?!, Interesting Stuff, Thoughtful, General on October 22nd, 2007 by Mad Bull

Mine was pretty decent still. Friday night was fucked, actually, but the rest of the weekend was pretty irie. So what made Friday fucked up? Well, Friday, Natty and I went clubbing, in an after, after work sort of way. All my co-workers who we were to be hanging with for part of the nite left as work was finished, but Natty and I had to set MBJr. up with a sitter, a process that took about two more hours, so we were already several drinks behind them when I bucked them up finally at “The Office” (a local bar and lounge). I should have realised that I would never be able to catch up.

I was past hungry by the time we got there, so we ordered some of that overly oily chicken wings and fries that they serve there. The gas in my system combined in a less-than-optimal way with the liquor and the oily food and so I wasn’t feeling 100% from early o’clock! Then we left “The Office” and went to “DLK” - the same bar by Dump Road where I was ganged some time ago. The place did ram! Nuff nuff ppl, all crowding the place and outting on some dancing. Natty and I stood up in a corner sipping on our drinks and watching the people. As I stood there watching them dance and have a great time, I realised that everybody else was having a blast and I was not.

That pissed me off and so I left with Natty, hoping to join up with HER crew. We went by “Harry’s Bar” and we realised that her crew never made it at all. The vibe was just absolutely absent. I didn’t even finish the drink I got when I went in. About half way through, I just put that sucker down and Natty and I left for home, where I lay down in my bed and fell instantly asleep.

Saturday and Sunday were cool though. I decided to do some work on a website I have been loafing on building, then I linked up a woman I used to work with and did some work with her on some code she couldn’t get working. After that I linked up with the guy I was doing the website for and showed him the pages. We spent some time going over it, then we drove up and down taking a few pictures to use to create a banner for the site.

After that, I went home and did some more work on the code I was helping the lady with. A substantial amount of that code is now written. As a result of my efforts with the code , I had to muck around quite a bit with SQL Server 2005 and I must say I learned a lot! I got a lot of things worked out and configured with the SQL Server software loaded on Compi as well, so that was irie.

In the evening, I set up this redundant PC I picked up from work for fifty bucks, then I loaded it up with Ubuntu Server. That was interesting as well. I now have a nice little LAMP box to fool around with. This is great! I plan to use this box to get more familiar with PHP coding and MySQL databases and perhaps with some Java coding as well. We shall see if I ever find the time! ? ??:

I guess if I spend less time blogging and more doing this coding / database / web app work, I may learn something and may even create something interesting. Perhaps I may even become worthy enough to at least grovel at the feet of one such as Owen or Taylor. If the stuff I develop is good enough to sell, that would be irie too! )

On Sunday, I did a bit of reading of a novel, (Jean M. Auel’s “The Valley of Horses“), I watched the final 24 CD I had to watch, thus finishing up the third season finally, and then I went to the Gym. (that was irie, I love how I feel after the workout). We went out to Canton Restaurant for a great lunch, then we came home. I lounged around until dark descended, then we went for a drive around East End and North Side, then back to Bodden Town, just to get out of the house. Later on that night, I configured an FTP server on the Ubuntu LAMP server and ftp’ed over some web pages to it, just to see how well it served up the pages. It was great.

There you have it. A great tech weekend! I haven’t done something like that in a long time. Perhaps that is why it was so much fun! )

Did I manage to keep you here or did I bore you to tears?

Well, for those of you still here, check this out:

Serious Soca

Posted in Entertaining, General on October 4th, 2007 by jdid

This news item caught my attention today: Thousands of fake cheques worth some £8m ($16.2m) have been seized in an attack on international e-mail scams. The cheques, offered as prizes in exchange for a fee and destined for the UK, were recovered in Nigeria by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca).

Serious Organized Crime Agency? Soca! Well I guess that acronym works up there with the British but I bet that it wouldn’t work in the Caribbean. We would be like you expect me to tek Soca serious? Look boy de only time I duz tek soca serious is Carnival time eh he! And everytime a man pull out his badge and it say soca we would be asking him hummuch tune he singing this year.

Of course it might catch on and if a fella behave bad we might warn him ‘Try and behave or I gine throw some Soca in ya tail’ or see headlines like ‘Soca sharing liks’. and if Soca get into trouble is ‘Baccanal at Soca’.

Things like this though remind me that words have different meanings in different locales. Ya duz got to be careful about who ya say certain things to. Let me tell ya bout this one time Read more »

Have you noticed that mediocre is the new average? Like before if someone was average, it was like OK that’s to be expected but now its like we accept mediocre as the standard? Read more »

Help For You Guys Out There

Posted in General on July 5th, 2007 by Seven

You know the saying - “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” - actually became the title of a book!!! Well, as a woman, I have to admit that there is a certain ‘vocabulary’ we women use and most guys don’t really comprehend it…

So I decided to give you guys a little help:

Nine words women use…

1.) Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.) Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with “nothing” usually end in fire.

4.) Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh : This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6.) That’s Okay : This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you’re welcome.

8.) Whatever : Is a women’s way of saying F@!K YOU!

9.) Don’t worry about it, I got it : Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the woman’s response refer to #3.

Hope this helps… )

Okay - Story Continues…

Posted in General on July 4th, 2007 by Seven

If you haven’t read the precurser to this post, start reading by going here first, please…

Well, all this introspection led me to see something that was once said to me - when I owned a store several years ago, I hired a trainer to come in and give Customer Service training to my staff, and I participated. At that time, they told me that they saw me as a “NURTURER”.

I realize that this is so true… I am a natural nurturer - its my first instinct… As such, I LOVE to help people. That leads me down a path to chaos at times, because I don’t know when to say NO - or HOW, sometimes!!! So, people, at times, take advantage of that aspect of my personality. Midas gets really annoyed with me about this, because it can really get ridiculous at times, and leave me frazzled, stressed, resentful (stupid, since I bring it on myself)…

But it also allows me to really make a contribution to the betterment of others - I’m not claiming to be Mother Teresa here; I don’t mean on a global level… I mean on an individual basis, I love to help new agents get started. I love to train…

This has led me to take on the role of Chairperson of our Career Development Committee - and I’m really excited about having an opportunity to help new agents get their careers off the ground - if I didn’t have that help when I started, who knows if I’d still be a Realtor today - much less a successful one!!! And I’ve learned that I really LOVE training - not teaching, in general, like high school or such, but training in career development. I can spend hours working on putting together a presentation that I hope will really help people develop and build success quickly!!!

I also realized that I love to help people I care about when they’re having problems… problems in their careers, their relationships, their finances - whatever it may be… I love to try to listen and to help them to learn the benefits of viewing things from the other person’s point of view, consider alternatives, pray, have faith… I love to close a day knowing that I helped someone - made a difference in their lives - made a Kingdom difference by showing that someone cares… that God cares and He Listens!!!

I remember hearing years ago that if you care more about helping a customer than you do about the income they represent, you’ll achieve success you cannot imagine! Well, I took that in, and really adopted it as my foundation for doing life and doing business with others… And you know what I’ve learned from that - IT’S SO TRUE!!!

The South Florida Real Estate market has made a sharp and dramatic shift from being a Sellers’ Market (where the Seller holds all the cards) to the reverse - a Buyers’ Market, where the buyer holds all the cards. Many realtors love this type of market, because the more a Seller recognises how much they need a Realtor, the more commission we can request.

For me, I see this market as being one that is so much tougher on the Seller, they’re making so much less money and at times, barely breaking even - that I keep my commission lower, and if I sell the house on my own without any cooperating realtor to split commissions with, I reduce the commission - I just think that’s fair - that’s how I’d like to be treated!!! Why should I make more than the seller nets out of their own property?

I know this is not a popular view in my profession and I certainly don’t mean to demean other Realtors who work the traditional way - it is a business after all, and they’re right to look at the bottom line!!! Its just my nature now to care more about my clients’ needs than about the money I can make from them - so its MY way - not necessarily the RIGHT way - just MY way!!!

Enough about that aspect of my life though - can you smell my obsession to my career? )

I am also a person committed to achieving my full fitness potential… I have gone through so many periods where I’ve slacked off - but I really am committed to not just looking good, but to achieving greater levels of fitness and setting new challenges for myself! I thrive on accomplishment - so reaching a point where I’d run a marathon or something like that would be a HUGE accomplishment to me. But I have to work so much harder on this…

I am currently not living a truly balanced life… I work, work, work… I get up, and go to work! I come home (whenever I get done) and work some more. Midas works through the night these days doing currency trading, so I bring my laptop down by him and WORK till I actually fall asleep in the chair some nights!!!

Because of this, I’m trying to train my mind to feel no guilt if I need to go to the gym in the middle of the day - its a serious goal of mine, so I need to commit to doing it whenever I can - as long as I get it in! I need to train myself into thinking its okay to take a day off, relax by the pool. I need to TURN OFF THE COMPUTER at a set time each day!!!! I spend far too much time ‘meandering’ as Midas calls it…instead of relaxing, READING (one of my passions, which I never seem to do anymore)

I need to make some serious changes in my life too - there are things I’m really not happy with about myself… so I need to take my own advice ) and PRAY and HAVE FAITH!!!

But as I said - I am a work in progress - I like to think that I try to really be as honest with myself as I can be… I have some great friends who call me on it when I’m in denial - and I am SOOO grateful for them! But I do try to look at every situation and analyse it from all points of view - if I’m wrong, I want to and often am the first one to own up to it (even if its really hard)…

But I am only a work in progress… God is making so many changes in my perceptions, some are little subtle things, some are monumental!!! But each day, I grow… each day, I develop… Each day, I learn that in giving you have so much personal reward, and as a side benefit - a person committed to finding a way to give back to YOU!!!

I don’t really know WHY I felt the need to share all this… nor do I know why it should interest you in the least… I guess I’m just rambling about stuff on my mind!!!

But if there’s some little point in here that touches you, interests you, motivates you or awakens you - hey: Let me know… You’ll make me go to sleep feeling better… feeling that I made a difference to someone - and that’s really what its all about for me!!!

The firework show for Weston is now starting - Midas and I don’t go the city park to watch, because its always such a crowd and a hassle to even get in - PLUS we can see the full show from our back patio!!! So off we go to take some champagne and sit out to watch the fireworks show - I’m not an American - I’m an EXTREMELY proud Jamaican! But I am a most grateful beneficiary of the land of opportunity - so, Happy Independence Day, America - let’s get the troops out of Iraq and back home to their families where they belong so that we can live freely AT HOME - let them come home to protect their home - and celebrate many, many more Generations of Freedom!!!

Okay, so let’s switch it up again!!! I have to say that from age 12 - 18, I was like any other teenager - could eat whatever i wanted, weight was never a concern! Then 18 - hormones kicked in - and the jamaican average diet knocked me flat on my feet. Breakfast - eggs/tuna sandwwich - whatever/ Lunch - 2 Patties/Sandwich of some sort/ soda… After school you get home by 3pm or thereabouts (depending on distance of school from home) and I’d cook up some corn beef and rice as a ’snack’), then dinner - rice, potatoes, yam, dumpling, green bananas, macaroni and cheese - and oh, by the way, some chicken!!! No lie, friends, as Jamaicans, we have a ridiculous diet!!!!

Once 18 hit, the weight started piling on!!! I went on diet after diet - I remember for my wedding, I did this diet where for weeks all I could eat were complex carbs (potato, sweet potato, yam etc - cooked with no salt, no sugar - aka - no flavor!) Then I got to add chicken/fish - but again- no salt - in fact the only spice we were allowed to use was curry! So I had curry everything for months till my wedding day. I lost loads of weight - looked great - but it took years for me to be able to eat curry again - and curried chicken is and always was one of my favorite foods!!!

Then my 20’s - overweight, smoked, the whole nine yards! Midas and I moved to Canada for a while and when we decided to move back home, I determined there was no way I was going home fat - I was 5′4″ and over 160lbs - not obese - but definitely heavy!!!

I came up with this GREAT concept - I learned in Canada to enjoy coffee (never did while living in Jamaica) and I learned that coffee took away my hunger… So - I drank coffee - all day, and smoked - all day - and ate ONLY at dinner!!! Basically, I starved myself to weight loss!!! It worked though - I lost a good 15 lbs. before moving home and after moving back at least another 15lbs!!!! I got to the point (especially since I sported a super short boy -haircut back then - that some people thought I was undergoing chemo! The more people told me I was too thin, the more pleasure I felt!!! It was such a dramamtic change from what I’d grown accustomed to!!! (Jamaican people have a way of telling you that you look well that makes you know you’re fat as heck!!!)

I learned about Herbalife and started using ephedra as well to aid in the weight loss process - and man, did I ever get skinny! I look at those pictures now and there’s still a part of me that says to myself “Wow, you looked great!”

Then, my body took over - the truth is - as my body showed, starving oneself accomplishes one MAJOR purpose - it KILLS your metabolism!!! Your metabolism is what burns the fat/calories you consume!!! My body basically ate so little it thought I was dead - so my metabolism slowed down to a non-existent pace - and I started gaining weight, despite not eating!!! How frustrating - and frightening!!! I was at a loss!!! I moved to Florida and a friend introduced me to Body For Life. I went to the website, bought the book and thought - there’s NO WAY!!! This involves eating!!! Often!!! It also involves working out - but EATING was a foreign concept!

They convinced me to try it, however, and I swear, from my 33rd year to my 35th year, I got into THE BEST SHAPE!!!! I lived the Body for Life program , I worked out and I LOVED IT!!!!! No boasting - I looked better than most people my age!!!

Then my Dad died - and I went wacko!!!! Couldn’t get back on track - went through April to August LOST!!! Gaining weight, demotivated, unhappy, depressed, grieving - the whole nine yards.

August 2003, my friend introduced me to Michelle - my strength and support for the past 4 years!!! Michelle Marie is a personal trainer who is so committed to her clients she changed my life- in so many ways!!!

I started working with Michelle in August 2003…. I’ve followed her and fought her along the way!!! I’ve been good and seen great results, and I’ve resisted and had her yell at me, challenge me for talking the talk but not walking the walk…

Through her INSPIRATION, this girl, who wrote her own excuse notes before P.E each week at Immaculate Conception High School to avoid sweating during a school day, eventually became someone who participated in a fitness challenge and actually won an award for running a 12 minute in the shortest time!!!! That was one of my proudest ever accomplishments!!!!

Now, I look at Michelle, the person that inspired me to go back to Christ, the person that won’t take my excuses for falling short of my fitness goals, but also the person who insists that I find balance in my life and learn that true fitness is not about necessarily “looking perfect”, but about eating in the heathiest ways, working out and enjoying life a little all at the same time…

Michelle has expanded her network of ‘clients’ from the people she can see weekly to the people “OUT THERE” all over the world, desperate for help. She has launched her website - www.michellemariefit.com - which seems initially to be targeted at brides-to-be, but is really there for all of us who want to figure out how to develop a healthy and fit lifestyle that will enable us to have heath, fitness and balance in our lives.

I can only encourage you to go to her site - sign up for the newsletters, order her book - more of which are upcoming- sign up for her online personal training - you cannot imagine the kind of results she can help you to achieve!!! And a more caring, spiritual, person, respectful of all faiths, you will find nowhere else. I love this girl!!! She’s my mentor (never mind that she’s alot younger than me - she has ‘got it’ in a way I’m still trying to attain!!!)

So there you have it - my personal battle through the fitness channell! Tomorrow morning at 7:30am, I have my next weigh-in and body-fat check-up - the analysis that really lets us know how I’m doing!!! It doesn’t matter what I SAY I’m eating - this analysis calls me to the test!!! Since she’s coached, mentored and encouraged me into a mindset of really being dilligent and committed, since she’s been so committed to me that I would be a total moron to fail her, I hope my analysis tomorrow proves that I’m back on track - I’ll let you know…

In the meantime, go to see her at www.michellemariefit.com

She CAN change your life - she’s a gift I want the world to know about!!!! Thanks Michelle !!! I love ya girl!!!

Dancehall Degenerating…

Posted in General on June 30th, 2007 by Seven

General Degree - Man Shortage

Anyways - a change of topic somewhat - but being the original dance hall girl from the Bull clan, unu eva really listen to the lyrics of Red Rat’s Shelley-Ann and Dwayne? Shelley-Ann is a classic (if you really know dance hall!!!) But you may have missed the full lyrical content of Dwayne!!! If you did, I urge you- revisit it - the song funny like wah!!! “This is serious”… (MB, if you know how to link the song, feel free, but my tech literacy does not evolve to that point..)

This is my problem with alot of new dance hall - the witticism is gone - a lot of the gunvibes, sex, etc. prevail - but without the original wit and lyrical form that made the songs catchy and hypnotic in a subtly sexual way. I don’t know how many of you have seen the “Hot Wuk” video… Now, don’t get me wrong - “Hot Wuk is a great dance tune… But HAVE YOU SEEN THE VIDEO???????????? Offensive is not sufficient enough to define the concept.)

Last time Mad Bull was here, he re-heard “Granny” (General Degree, I think) Bredrin - go back and find a copy of “Granny” - it wicked!!! This is the dance hall I love - the music that makes us laugh, dance and feel good!!! Hey - remember “Glamourous, Glitterous” (may be the wrong title - but I’m sure you know what i mean - where did the subtle witticism go????)

Now here’s the thing - I am a newly-recommitted Christian (MB, don’t roll your eyes ) ) - I don’t propose to being a Christian who looks down on all Dance Hall because I’ve become a committed Christian!!! I still love my culture, love my music!!! I believe that dance hall has its place in life as an entertainment form - I think we need to start to set some boundaries, however, about what is socially acceptable, and what is not!!! Or Jah Know, the Jamdown I hope to be heading back to will be worse salt than here!!!

Not sure how many of you read the story in the Gleaner that I read with absolute horror…

The one about the 15 year old boy charged with the sexual molestation of his mother (along with his father who was charged with aiding and abetting). Not only was the incident offensive, but so was the journalistic reporting, which described the sexually abused “mother” as being an “IMBECILE”… I presume that they mean she has mental handicaps… Since when was Imbecile the correct term to define that condition?

The article went on to say that after they arrested the 15 year old son and the father, Child Services went into the house to check, because it became evident other children were there…

Therein, they found a young child with a headwound, festering with maggots…

They asked the father how he allowed this to happen… His response was that he had noticed the wound AND the maggots, and after stuffing the wound with CRUSHED CRACKERS AND OATMEAL, he saw no change, so had just about decided to take the child to a docotor!!!!!!

Now, I don’t share this to belittle my homeland - I am a Jamaican, and I believe I’m being called home to step up to the plate to enact a change instead of being all talk and no action…

But this is just my Jamaicanised version of the argument that the entire family structure has gone to crap - we promote a lifestyle of gangsterism, free sex, no-tie marriages, and a complete lack of concern, education and ‘it takes a village to raise a child’, etc… globally!!!

And globally, we’re seeing HUGE breakdowns in society and the behaviour of people and how they relate to each other… Is it only me that has made a correlation between these aspects of life?
Okay - this Realtor has an early appt., and is off to bed and officially stepping down off my soapbox…

But I welcome comments, feedback and interaction on the three key topics I raised:
1. The degenerationof “Dance-Hall Music”
2. The impact of dance-hall music
3. The degeneration of our society being perpetuated by the breakdown of the family unit!

Love To Hear Your Views
