The recent deaths of two more teenage drivers on Cayman’s roads have spurred Minister of Education Alden McLaughlin to decide to make Driver’s Education mandatory in public schools.

“Driver’s Ed is going to be part of the curriculum at government schools,” he said at the Cabinet press briefing Friday.

“It will happen,” he added later.

Mr. McLaughlin said he made the decision over the Christmas holidays after he delivered the obituaries for two young teenage males killed on the roads last month.

“That affected me,” he said, adding that he is often called on to deliver obituaries, but that when he does it for young people, it “tears me up.”

The exact details of the plan have yet to be worked out.

“Conceptually, what we have in mind is Year 11 students would take the course,” said Mr. McLaughlin.

Fourteen people died in traffic accidents on Cayman’s roads in 2006, most of them teenagers.

At least they're trying something.

They need to come up with some ideas to combat increasing road fatalities over in Jamaica too.

Beenie Man seems to have had a rough year in 2006. Yeah, I know he got married and he had a son, but apart from that, trouble seems to have set up like rain against Beenie in 2006. He is still doing well, mind you! His album is selling and he was booked solid for shows over the recent silly season, but he has been involved in more fighting and kas-kas than anybody else I know of! Check it out:

As is normal, he has been waging an ongoing feud with Bounty Killa, seemingly forever. This has escalated now, however, where he is at war with Bounty Killa and also the Alliance, a set of artistes who move closely with the Killa.

Early in the year, there were rumours of Beenie possibly ending his relationship with his recording label, because of differences he had with some representatives of Virgin Records.

In 2006, he also had a problem with Twin of Twinz. There was a lot of threats , etc. going on because Beenie felt that the Twin of Twinz had suggested on their CD that he was responsible for the death of Bogle.

This led to Beenie having a bit of a bustup with his band (Ruff Cut). He happened upon Ruff Cut working in studio with the Twin of Twinz and he went ballistc! He ended up proclaiming that he had fired Ruff Kut! I think his management sorted that out, however.

Next, he had a problem with Patrick Roberts of Shocking Vibes, who has been his manager for over twenty years! Apparently the two are now to part ways.

Finally he has now lost his chief songwriter! And don't forget the little squabbles he gets into day by day, like when some thugs from New York were threatening Beenie or like the incident where he had a member of his entourage box Spice! (Her lyrics were really not too kosher though... )

The question on my mind is, can everybody else just be all messed up, or is it more likely that the problem lies with Beenie Man himself?!

To borrow a phrase from Yannick, "How come everybody ah move so bitter 'gainst the 'King'?" People, it seems to me that Beenie has way more than his fair share of squabbles, disagreements, quarrels and fights, and I think that a major cause of this lies within Beenie Man himself. Perhaps he is exalting himself too much nowadays, thereby leading to all these issues with everyone around him.

Where will all this contentiousness end? With a bullet in his skull? With him finally pissing off his fans royally? With him becoming nothing more than a footnote in the annals of Jamaican Dancehall, like Shabba? Who knows? I think it would be wise for him to take a look within himself now though, while he still has it going on.

Anyway, lets see what 2007 will bring for the "King".

Hey, what do you think of Shaggy? All washed up? Naw sah. It doesn't look that way. He has out a new video, its quite interesting. Watch Shaggy's new video, Church Heathen nuh?

What I want to know is:

1) Where is that church? Its quite pretty. It reminds me of the church I used to go to in Stony Hill, except for the stained glass windows...

2) Which pastor would allow a dancehall video to be shot in his church? It Must be one of those money-grabbing pastors, nuh true?

Bwoy, everytime I go to Governor's Beach I pause to hold a little lust lyme over the condos in the picture to the left. I wish I had the money to own one of those condos so I could live right there on Seven Mile Beach. Then I could get up every morning and go for a brisk swim before getting ready and heading out to work. I am sure that would put a much brighter spin on things, don't you agree?

Of course, when hurricane set up, I need to have another residence somewhere in the neighbourhood I live in right now, or over in Beach Bay or something, where things don't flood out (or at least, where they are less likely to flood out!)

Nothing too deep right now... just some idle chatter, thats sometimes a good thing, isn't it? I tell you what... I am going to give you a little list of things that are going on now that I am happy about, seen?

Some things I am thankful for right now:

My son has finally started to read books! We gave him a book called "Goosebumps - Egg Monsters from Mars" by R. L. Stines for Christmas and he has almost finished it already! This will be the first book that he has read off all on his own! I hope this is the beginning of a trend! I was a reader myself, all us Bulls were... Its fun to see him enjoying the book, still.

I just went outside to get something and noticed that the back tire on Natty's car was pretty low. I was thankful it wasn't flat though! I drove up to the Miss Lorna's Texaco by Bodden Town and I put some air in the tire. I am going to monitor it for a bit and see how fast its losing air. If its pretty fast, I will take a drive down to Jose's gas station by the Airport and see if the tire guys are there working. If they are, at least I won't have to change the tire! Trust me, the jack for Natty's car works but it takes so long to hoist the car to a point where you can change the tire, its not funny! I am thankful I noticed the tire problem before it was completely flat or I'd definitely have to have changed the tire myself.

I am so thankful that I am not a person who works at a gas station! Yow, they are ALWAYS working! Shit, on Christmas Day, the ONLY things that were open as far as I could see were the gas stations! Thats crap, star! I enjoy my work most times but love my time off too, you know!

Two things I am sad about right now:

Its raining right now and the whole place is cloudy... I was hoping to go to the beach again today... Anyway, maybe I will get lucky and the clouds will blow over by about 4:00pm and the sea won't be too rough... keep your fingers and toes crossed for me, zeen?

Secondly, tonight this wonderful little break away from work will come to an end! It was pretty cool still, even though we didn't have family near...

At least theres only three days to go through before we can do it all over again!

Hey, you know which talk show host I am feeling right now? Tyra Banks! I have watched about two episodes of her show now and I was pleasantly surprised. I was never a real fan of Tyra, but now that I see her on her talk show, I am becoming a fan fi real! She comes across like she is really a nice person on the inside, not just on the outside, you know? Hopefully thats not just a front. If it is, she is also a good actress! I quite like her. Big up, Tyra!

You know what? I just had this cool idea! Check this out. For some unknown reason, I have this weird desire to maintain three blogs and I don't write to them every day, so what happens is that you, my readers tend to miss out on a post here and there... I know thats a major problem for you ;) , after all, I have had a few readers ask me why I do the multiple blog thing. They say it can be a drag to go check all three blogs, you know? "Why not just stick to one blog?", asked that awesome hottie, Cool Destiny.

Well, I don't know why! I think I have come up with an idea that will satisfy both you and me, however! Yes, rude bwoy. Did I mention that I have turned over a new leaf? Yeh man! I am not getting any younger, so I have decided that I need to take better care of what I have got!

I have cut way back on the drinking and I am watching what I eat. I have gotten rid on the moustache (its been gone since August) and I have even been going to the gym since the beginning of December.

This lifestyle change has worked wonders! Campfyah, Afrodite and others have been complaining that I never post pictures of men for them to lust at, but this time I have decided to make an exception! Ladies, I give you.......

Okay, time for a joke.

A blond lady motorist was about two hours from San Diego when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down. The man walked up to the car and asked, "Are you going to San Diego ?"

"Sure," answered the blonde, "do you need a lift?"

"Not for me. I'll be spending the next three hours fixing my truck. My problem is I've got two chimpanzees in the back which have to be taken to the San Diego Zoo. They're a bit stressed already so I don't want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me? I' ll give you $100 for your trouble."

"I'd be happy to," said the blonde. So the two chimpanzees were ushered into the back seat of the blonde's car and carefully strapped into their seat belts. Off they went.

Five hours later, the truck driver was driving through the heart of San Diego when suddenly he was horrified!! There was the blonde walking down the street and holding hands with the two chimps, much to the amusement of a big crowd.

With a screech of brakes he pulled off the road and ran over to the blonde. What the heck are you doing here?" he demanded, "I gave you $100 to take these chimpanzees to the zoo."

"Yes, I know you did," said the blonde," but we had money left over---so now we're going to Sea World.

Hmph... I see where Doctor D. got a little break and was to go to Portland but the rain (thats currently flooding everywhere in Jamaica) mashed up his plan... poor Doc... A so it go. It could be worse, after all, at least you are high and dry.

I also saw where everybody was advising the Doc to go find a nice little dawtah to wrap up with and weather out the storm, but what they don't know is that the Doc is a busy man! He won't have time to go out to find any women! On top of that, his taste is highly suspect! He don't know doll from dog, you dun know! You just have to help some people out, you nuh seet!

Well, Natty and I just watched Da Vinci Code on DVD. In my opinion, it would have been hard to follow the movie if I hadn't read the book. I suggest to anybody who hasn't seen the movie OR bought the book, its better to buy the book than to go to the movie.

Hey, they have this little fete tonight at Margaritaville, they have Alaine here for it, I think she is a pretty good up-and-coming singer and I wouldn't mind checking her out.

So I was surfing along this morning and I came across an interesting article. The article said that Mel Gibson has been named to a list of the top 50 coldest people in Hollywood, where cold is the opposite of hot! What?

The article says that Mel has a new movie out but who cares... Who cares? I care!

So Mel is a bit anti-semitic! So he drank and drove! No one is perfect! We would have hoped that Mel was past the drinking and driving bit, but hopefully its nowhere near a daily practice. As for the anti semitism, so many people are on that list that we really shouldn't get upset with Mel for that!

Hell, the Jews fall over themselves daily trying to make us all join the anti-semitism bandwagon! Not that I am saying that I am anti-semitic, hell, a Jew saved MBJr.'s life back when he was in his terrible twos! The Jews do have a knack of getting themselves bad press though, you gotta admit it!

I am sure that the guy who wrote the article is a Jew! So probably are the people who voted Mel unto that list in the first place! (the writer and those people who put Mel on that stupid list are the "fassys" referred to in the title!) ) Louis Farrakhan was right about one thing! The Jews in America are very powerful and they work together to further the interests of the Jews. They are most likely responsible for this list.

Mel Gibson is a great actor, and I will probably watch his new film.

You know, I am willing to bet that we read of Mel being tops in some other list, but at the opposite end of the spectrum, in a year or two!
