Who'd have thought...

I listen to Fame FM on the way to work in the morning, because the Disc Jockey, Francois, is absolutely crazy. He has this little segment on his programme called Francois' Facts and Trivia in which he tells you of little known facts which are interesting in and of themselves, but which are also of little importance.

The information he gave this morning in this segment was quite interesting. Francois said that in the 1890s, the fashion in England was for women to pierce their nipples and wear gold rings through them... He said that they did this for two reasons. Firstly this practice was thought to make the breasts rounder and fuller. Secondly, it was thought that men were stimulated sexually when they saw their women with their nipples pierced.

Who da thunk it?!? In the 1890's!! As they say, there is nothing new under the sun! I thought that this was a new practice. And while I doubt that this practice had any effect on the fullness or the roundness of the women's breasts, I'm sure that it "tittilated" the men? I don't know why, but for some reason I'm pretty sure that it worked...

Updated at 12:06PM: You know what I've always wondered? After the piercing, do the nipples retain the same amount of sensitivity? What about those with vaginal piercings? And what about those who've had breast enhancement operations? After all the silicone has been put in, does the breast maintain the same amount of sensitivity? Anyone who reads my blog who has such a piercing, or has had a breast job, let us know. Use my comments link. Please answer, enquiring minds want to know.

I have no information for you--just ow ow ow! LOL I have a pretty high pain threshold, but there are just some places I do not need to feel pain. LOL

First of all MB, you need to listen to a good radio station, KOOL 97.7 FM. Personally I think Francois and his trivia is rubbish, but, to each his own. I don't think that piercing of the nipples should interfere with the sensory organs, unless some were to get damaged during the piercing process. I'm not too impressed with nipple piercing myself, but have in recent times started to appreciate female genital rings.....not that I have had any actual experience with them as yet, but as they say, never say never. Must be a pretty painful business to go through I imagine. I wonder what wKen may have to say about this?

Well I'm in my 30's and for me an experience like that would be, 'arrgghh, mercy!' but I'm sure someone who is much younger and able to tolerate much more pain (and is willing), it would be like, 'ahh!' I guess the (sexual?) pleasure one would derive after the healing process and all is more than enough incentive to bear the pain of genital piercings and more? Is that it?

i have heard from more than one source, that (after the healing) it actually increases the sensitivity.

one person called it, a four lane expressway to the pleasure centers, or something.

heh - i have my nose done and will do my tongue eventually, but nothing else, no way.

I had my tongue done a couple years ago. First off, the most painful experience of my life, voluntarily or accidentally partaken of. (Then again, I've never experienced childbirth, so who knows.) I have since taken out the jewelry and let the hole close.
And the woman who did it (a licensed nurse who keeps her license current, but went into the piercing business) told me beforehand that I might lose some taste buds. Huh? Yeah. They might die, depending on how the capillaries were affected by the piercing. I don't know if I lost any or not. Lost part of a tooth because of it, though. (Long story)

I have a cousin in Australia who is on the rebellious side. Gave her parents nuff heart ache and worry. She had both her nipples pierced and said that it WAS painfull. Especially one night when she went out without permission and had to squeeze in through the window and they were recently done. HA! PUNISHMENT!

Well, they do say vanity bears no pain! Or is it a lie?

I've got my earlobes pierced and they're very sensitive...I wonder whether that is caused by the piercing.
