Dam Sunset(s)

Here is a nice sunset scene taken at the Mona Dam as I walked yesterday evening. Yeah, I have managed to get up there again!

Its the first in a lo-ong time, partly because of laziness, partly work pressure and more recently, because of the sciatica. The doctor told me that I need to start walking again (and I hope to get back to running shortly after ) and so, I returned to the Dam.

The picture was taken with a little point-and-shoot digital camera, one of those that work best with the subject between 5 - 10 feet away and with lots of light, but I was pleasantly surprised with this shot.

I was testing out this camera. It belongs to a friend at work who NEVER uses it. I hate when things like that go to waste, so I decided to try it out. You might think it strange that I'd fool around with a camera like that when I have a better one, but you know what? I am shy! I usually don't like people to see me taking the photos, because I feel funny. I feel like they are all looking at me and saying to themselves "Look at that fool, he looks like he thinks he is a great photographer but he obviously knows nothing about this picture-taking thing!". As a result, I don't pull out the camera when there are too many people around.

This point-and-shoot camera has an advantage over mine in that its quite small and unobtrusive, and you don't have to be standing around focussing the damned thing while people are staring at you. Ya just point and shoot! Then you put it up and move on! Thats it!

But the way that shot came out has made me hungry to see how my camera can do with it, so embarrassment or not, you done know seh (can be sure) I am going back with my camera!
As soon as this infernal rain holds up, that is... There are more sunset shots if you like...

Here are a couple more like the first one. Enjoy them.

Yes I, it is raining cats and dogs. All day! This stuff is good for gardening fanatics and, as Dr. D pointed out, for lovers, but thats about it!

Its pretty dangerous weather, actually. One man has died already, when his house washed away, so it definitely can pose some danger that way, but thats not all there is to it, though.

In this kind of weather, people are forced to stay cooped up together in their dwelling places. Sometimes these people are not too comfortable being confined together. They may have some tension in their relationships with each other, for instance, one might feel that the other person is lazy and takes them for granted, or maybe thay just think the person is too untidy and selfish or whatever. In weather like this, these feelings of resentment, which have been festering in silence, are finally forced to the surface. The close confines cause the thin scab which was covering the suppurating wound to be scraped off, and out boils the anger, the hatred, the sheer vitriol! Flash point!

I can think of a certain household populated by three people who may very well be at each other's throats now. I will have to visit them tomorrow and check up on them. Hopefully there are no broken bones or anything by then... and to make matters worse, one of them called to say they were experiencing a power cut as well...

I hope the rain holds up tomorrow, thats all I can say!

Hmm. First off, the pic is quite good. I do think your camera would do it better justice though as the image does not seem very sharp...anyway not being too citical really.

Second. You give a shit what people will think when they see you taking scenery shots?? I could understand if you were taking their picture. My yute, when you tek you million dolllar shot that can buy me my dream car, then you will realize that shame tree or not, shoot!

Three. Your mind is really ticking to be thinking about individuials who may not be seeing eye to eye in enforced confinement like this casued by rain. I wonder if I may know the three people to whom you aluded in the post??

Four. Blanche's fate is still not fully planned out. But I do plan to make another chapter. It would have been posted already but there was a power cut. Feding mi face now, will probably have a VX while typing still, so maybe shout you on line. Stay warm.

Gorgeous sunset!

We're going back to walking here, too. We had a good start on a program last fall, but DH fell off the roof and hurt his ankle, and then tried to tackle a thief, and ripped the hamstring in the same leg. I'm keeping him away from dangerous stuff for a while...

Go back and take a picture with YOUR camera!

I love these pictures...but like the good Dr. said, why are you worried about taking pictures with your camera? most people aren't great photographers, and those that are didn't get that way by not taking pics *s*
besides, unless they see what you're downloading/developing, they're not gonna know what it turned out like anyway (meaning you could be a world class photographer and they would have no idea *g*)
and about the second part of your post, I'm so glad I don't live like that anymore!!!!!

All the pics are wonderful! I love the one that makes the sun appear to be IN the water.

Gorgeous photos... no need to worry about a camera with too many buttons that you need a manuel to operate it... you did fine.

Great Pics MB,
I love them all, strangely enough I think I know those three people too, but I really don't think they even need 1/2 hours worth of rain for the said situation to be in effect. Hopefully all is well
