Stewed Chicken Foot!

Friends... Good food... delicacies and so-called delicacies... liquor... rum, wine... Good times!

Monday night did shock out (was very, very nice), y'all! Natty, MBJr. and I went up to the top of the complex to hang out with some friends. MBJr. immediately went upstairs to hang out with his paseros, Dawny and Jeremy (Stephan's kids). Natty and I hung out with the bigger kids

It all began when Anna brought home this guy who was involved in the wine business (Cellars of Jamaica)... and thats wine, as in fermented grapes, not wine as in slow (or fast), sexy movement of the hips in a circular motion, designed to inflame, excite and madden any warm-blooded Jamaican male. But I digress...

Anna brought home this gentleman at the same time Stephan and I were fixing the problem we were having with the ADSL modem. We heard a loud crash and when we went to the window we discovered that Anna had broken a beautiful wine glass. She didn't waste much time in mourning, however. She immediately invited us down to share in the "vino", and when Anna invites you to anything, you just say yes!

Before we knew it, we were downstairs in the driveway in front of Anna's apartment, sitting in plastic chairs, swilling all kinds of wine and rum, and devouring all kinds of exciting finger food, like crab meat on cucumbers and crackers, and a shrimp salad. Ya know, we always seem to end up in front of Anna's apartment, maybe that is why we call it Anna's Sidewalk Cafe!

After a short period of this, the cruff Stephan decided that he wanted to contribute another "delicacy food item" to the communal table, and so he went upstairs and returned with his STEWED CHICKEN FOOT! He proceeded to dare and double-dare people to try the chicken foot. I did (thats what the picture above is all about).

Now I am just a regular type of guy, and that extends to the things that I eat. When it comes to chicken, I eat all the regular pieces, the breast, the back, the thigh, the leg... If necessary, I will eat the neck and the wing. Not for me the "innards!" No gizzard, no liver, no heart, and until Monday, no feet. Of course, Stephan and the others ensured that I was fairly well juiced up before they brought down the chicken foot, and, bolstered by liquid courage, I decided to give it a whirl.

It was a very nice night, and a good time was had by all. Whats that? How did the chicken foot taste? Ok, I guess. Gummy... very gummy. I crunched up and swallowed three pieces and left it at that. Its not necessarily something I would shout about from the mountain tops, but its not really a evil, vile-tasting thing either. Give it a whirl if you'd like to.

There are a couple more pictures, if you'd like to see them...

I didn't notice until I read the description, but it looks like a chicken foot- I see the toes! Hilarious, sounds like a great time!

I've never had chicken foot stewed, but it does make a very nice soup! I have it fairly often in soup....and gummy is quite an adequate description of it.

Seems like it was a mini bashment indeed. One question though, in the first picture.....a who dah ugly bwoy deh??? Jus cool rudes.

Eww... I'll pass on the foot too. One of my aunts used to make soup out of chicken feet... I would not partake.
