The IceWoman has it!

iceland.jpg

As Jeff was quick to point out earlier (see comment on previous post), they have chosen a new Miss World! Unnur Birna fromIceland is Miss World 2005! Congrats to her, and to her fellow Icelandians, or Icelanders or whatever you call the natives of Iceland! I am sure that many people there are all excited that their candidate won!

Interestingly enough, Miss Puerto Rico came third over all (she is the Queen of the Caribbean) and Miss Jamaica and Miss American Virgin Islands (winner of the talent competition - Singing) made it to the final fifteen! I'd say the Caribbean did fairly well this year. Big up to them, you done know!

Big up to Jeff too, because I do believe that Miss Puerto Rico was his first choice (at least, from the Caribbean) from day one, and because he managed to 'first' me in announcing Miss Iceland's victory. Clearly he is a man who has the ability to focus on the important things in life, and he has impeccable taste. He is obviously a man who is cut from the same cloth as I am, and I now consider him a brother...

Actually, Jeff managed to first me because I have been hard at work. Let me tell you some more about it... click on the link down dehso... (below...)

Today, I went to help our two different friends to set up their websites. One of these guys is an accomplished designer, and my role is to sling the PHP about a bit, while the other friends are pros, but in fields far from Information Systems. My role in the second project is more of a design/advisory/implementative nature. Anyway, I was working with these friends since 2:00pm and its now after 11:00pm and I am just getting home. poor me!

Anyway, it was an interesting way to spend the day.

Last night was also interesting, as I went to my Office Christmas Party. It was irie! It was not as hyped up as the Christmas party put on by my previous office last year, but it was very enjoyable none-the-less! The food and the company was excellent. Natty and I sat with two delightful couples, one of which was Ri and his irie wife. We really had a good time.

Tomorrow should also be interesting, as I will do some more work on my friends' websites and I also plan to get out and about with one of the most Troublesome bloggers I know! Yessir, this is definitely one busy weekend.

So, whats up in your neck of the woods?

Yeah congrats to Miss Puert Rica, Miss Iceland and most of all Miss Jamaica.

I want to learn the whole PHP thing. I have improved significantly with the HTML aspect, as you will see when Scenes of Jamaica is finished, but I want to build more interactive sites. That is why I want to learn the whole PHP and ASP thing.

I actually watched bits and pieces of the pageant and was surprised at the winner.

@CD - Well, I didn't get to watch it, so you have one up on me. I too was surprised at the winner though. I liked Miss Canada, and she was in the top 15, but I don't know what happened...

@ Stunner - Well, go for it, man! You know what? If I was there I'd help you, but as you know, I aint. Owen (of Owensoft dot net) is in Jamaica, however! He lives in Portmore too, I believe. Link him nuh? He is pretty good with it, it seems to me...

@ Amelia - thanks for the kind wishes, Amelia... as it happens, I did have a great weekend, though it had a bad ending: now that its ended, I have to go to work...

@ Marc - good luck in your exams, mate!

@ Kami - the Miss World Finals were on Saturday. I don't know what time the program aired though...

@ Rose - I haven't see it in awhile either... I think the last time I saw it was on Dec. 7, 2002. Thats too long, don't you think?

@ Docter D - My yute, you just won't listen, will you? A man of your stature needs to have a marine fish tank, not the boring little old deggeh deggeh fresh water fish tank! C'mon, man!

I do not condone the exploitation and objectification of women that takes place in these pagents... Well, except the swimsuit competition...
