Bwoy, I notice that the majority of the Caribbean blogging community is not into the weekend blogposting thing at all. The Caribbean section of the blogosphere well silent! (At least, that part of it that I have mapped out)
You know what? I am going to make some noise...
Di Realest Ting!
So, what do I have to tell you? Hmmm.... ok, I am going to just give you a rundown of my week so far.
Trust me, I have had an interesting week. I got home late every night, but Wednsday and Thursday took the cake, as I got home at 9:00pm and 10:30pm on those nights.
You see, my company has just bought and is in the process of implementing a software package which is brand spanking new. The software hasn't been out longer than a few months, and the technology that it is based on, Microsoft Biztalk 2004, is also brand spanking new. There doesn't seem to be a lot of manuals out there for this technology as yet and the one book we found at Amazon on the topic has been universally derided in all the reviews as being useless!
You done know that I had to be doing some detailed note taking.
On top of that, the vendor's consultant seems to still be learning stuff about the technology, and there were several niggling problems which I am sure will be coming back to bite me in the ass now that the consultant has flown out. Based on all that I have written, you done know that I was desirous of unwinding after work on Friday!
Well, Natty, M'Buthulezi and I went to a favourite restaurant/drinking hole right by the sea. We picked up MBJr. who does swimming lessons there and then we ate some good food and we knocked back some good liquor.
There is more, of course... Click pon de link below, nuh?
N.B. UPDATED @ 23 Jan 2006 08:52am : Changed the song from Macka Diamond's 'Bun Him' to Natural Black's Far from Reality. The 'Season' riddim was a run it . Updated again @ 25 Jan 2006 10:15pm : Vybz Kartel's 'Di Realest Ting', on the 'Jump Off' Riddim. Enjoy! Updated again @ 27 Jan 2006 06:28am : Baby Cham's 'Ghetto Story', on the 'Eighty Five' Riddim.
We had great conversation with MBJr.s swim teacher (from the U.S.) and her assistant (from Kingston, Jamaica) and her assistant's friend (from Hanover, Jamaica). It was an irie evening. Eventually the conversation came right back to that bastard Hurricane Ivan, a topic that will be part of our conversations here in Cayman for a few years yet.
The Swim teacher's assistant regaled us with the story of her particular journey through the rigours of Ivan. Of course, since a fair amount of time has passed, the sheer terror and all the bad stuff has been forgotten so the story now told was humourous, and she told the story in a very excited spirit! She had us all rolling on the floor with laughter as she spoke! We had a good time there... unfortunately, since she got excited, she lapsed into some broad patois much of the time she was telling the story and the swim teacher had some difficulty understanding her, but we translated, so she enjoyed the story too...
Afterwards, we dropped the assistant to Bodden Town and came home. I was mashed up from the hard work during the week, so I had another drink and chilled in front of the computer for a wee bit, then I went straight off to bed.
Seven, if you read this, you'll be interested to know that though my night ended there, M'Buthulezi's didn't! She went back home and linked up with some people and ended up going bar hopping! Yes, M'Buthulezi, bar hopping! She told me she went to Fidel Murphy's, Lone Star, and Aqua Beach! I haven't even been to those places yet myself! Cayman has some people shocking out, Seven!
Yesterday, I went to Corner Pocket as usual. I bucked up this Yardie there who played pool with me and the man MASH ME UP! Eventually I found out that the man has a pool table at his home back in Jamaica!
Bwoy, the man sure knows how to put some serious "English" on the ball, star! He made some awesome shots... I played well still, and I feel good that I was able to win three games off him, but trust me, I was well and truly flattened!
Afterwards, I asked him his name and he told me that it was "Omega"! Ra$$, if he had told me his name up front, I don't think I would have played against him at all! I mean, with a name like that, the man nuh must be something special!
I bucked up Trouble later on and had a beer with him.... yes, people, he is still around, just up to his neck in dirty diapers and all that ish, you done know.
Anyway, thats it so far, let me go and make sup'm happen today so I have more to tell you later, zeen? Peace, I'm out.
