The World Sunlight Map

Here is an interesting little one! I came by this link thanks to Taran. Basically, the link points us to the World Sunlight Map. It shows you which part of the globe is being washed in the rays of our sun at any moment.

Right now, as I write this, pretty much all of the South American continent is under sunlight, which means Guyana Gyal, Taran, Abeni and a few others on my blogroll are probably heading out their doors to go to work, or sitting on their back steps listening to the birds singing or taking a walk along the sea wall and planning their next post or something, meanwhile, back in Jamaica, Cuba and the Caymans, the sun ain't up yet. Its just starting to do a little thing as I write this, actually. Hear the garbage truck there... yes, this World Sunlight Map is spot on. Taran got a different view when he was looking at it (about 3:10am., T&T time). Hmmm... maybe he won't be up sitting on his back step just yet, having gone to bed so late!

In Taran's post, he mentioned that judging from the map at the point he was looking at it, it would have been about noon in India. That reminded me that I have some trouble calls placed at the helpdesk of the Indian company that wrote some software I support at work. I therefore logged in to their site and checked on the calls real early, so that I could respond if they had asked for any information on any of the calls. I figured that if I responded now, I might still catch the people at work and I might not lose a day. Usually by the time I get around to answering them, they are all gone home for the day and if the problem is one where the night shift is unable to help, then its dead until the next morning, Indian time. smily

Yes, it is a bit of a frustrating way to work! What to do? smily

Unfortunately, there weren't any responses to two of the calls and the one with the response can wait until I get to work, so...

Still, the World Sunlight Map is interesting and I will continue using it from now on.

I was up. It's a long day, and looks like it will be longer.

Bless the coffee bean.

Yeah, this thing is pretty cool. It's more intuitive than wrestling with numbers for me... I can see where the light is. :-)

Interesting little gadget. It's only worth a look, because I don't see how it can help me in any way.

When I was living in Jamaica, my mother would phone when the place dark like midnight, it was 5 am...and I would grumble that it was dark.

And EVERY SINGLE TIME she would say, very surprised, "Really? It is so bright here, the sun is shining bright."
