The Path to The Dark Side

Well, it appears that Analisa Chapman doesn't know her ass from her elbow, and she wouldn't know a good movie if one came up and bashed her in the head! You probably may not recall her name, but she is the person who reviewed "Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith" in the Jamaica Observer.

Yes, I went to check a bredrin tonight and the Force was with me. I was lucky enough to drop in just as one of his friends dropped by with a pirate copy of the final show in the Star Wars series. People, I know that piracy is wrong, but I was in the thrall of the Dark Side. I was weak, and I now come to you to confess... I watched the pirated copy...

The movie was pretty good! Don't listen to Analisa, bwoy. She hasn't got a clue! She was right on one score however... the light sabre action was well, well irie! Go ye forth and watch the movie, y'all! If the dude still has the movie in the week, I may even watch it again! TTY tomorrow, y'all!

The Miss Universe

Well, the Miss Universe 2005 finals will be held on Tuesday night, I think. What of the delegates from the Caribbean region? The Miss Universe competition does not have a "Caribbean Queen of Beauty" assignation, as far as I know, so I guess I will have to run that aspect of things myself. Ahh bwoy, its an onerous task but someone's got to do it. smily

I am going to post the pictures of the ladies who are representing us in the Miss Universe. You all have between now and Tuesday evening to pick the Caribbean Queen of Beauty, cool? Lef' your votes in the comments.

First up, Miss Jamaica Universe:

The Musical Baton

Ok. I usually don't get passed batons of any sort, so I was a bit sluggish out of the blocks. I guess the reason is that the first question kind of stumped me... I hardly have any music at all on my PC... probably less than 30 Megabytes.

Anyway, Brother Owen passed me the baton, and though I have taken awhile to respond, here goes. In case you haven't yet guessed, this is one of those meme-y things that we bloggers waste time with every now and then, you know, where a bunch of questions are posed and plenty-plenty bloggers answer them. Here are the questions and answers...

Total volume of music files on computer:

110 GB on a server at work! Yup, I don't have much music on my personal PC, but apparently I work with some very dedicated burners! Music of all kinds, of all genres! 110 Gigabytes of it, on a server at work! Awesome collection. By the way, have I mentioned to you that all the servers at work are named after liquor? Yessir! Theres rum, gin, tequila, vodka, etc, etc, etc... can you guess how much the people I work with are party animals?

The last CD I bought was :

Actually, I bought two at one time, there were both Morgan Heritage CDs, "Don't Haffi Dread" and "Three In One". Good music, rasta!

Song playing right now :

Actually, nothing is playing right now, but yesterday evening in the car, I was listening to the Now compilation CD, the one from 2004, with Switchfoot's "We were meant to live" on it.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me :

Like Owen, I listen to new songs a lot, repeatedly, until newer ones replace them, but I play the old ones on occasion. I cannot say that I can think of any songs that really 'mean a lot' to me. I guess some of the older dancehall, from when we used to party hard... Hmmm... what're the songs that I'm into right now? Up to recently, it was almost anything on the "Drop Leaf' riddim, but nothing else has really taken over my headspace since then...

Five people to whom I'm passing the baton :

Ok, I am picking Doctor D, because he is my pasero, who me know from my eye did deh a mi knee solar plexus, or thereabouts. I am picking Jdid because he seems to be really into music and thus should have lots to say. I am going to pick Fyr, because she seems to be a real computer techie (like me, except shes a girl) and therefore I'm interested to know where shes at on the musical front, I am picking Trouble because he is my island-mate (in the same sense as a person whom you share a house with is your roommate, so no fiesty comments from the penny section smily) and finally, I am picking Yamfoot, whose favourite song is probably "Rally round the West Indies" by David Rudder, but I must admit I cannot guess anything more about her musical tastes, and so I thought I'd add her here...

Hey, I doh mind the questions, but maybe we could have a bit more fun with it, so I am going to add a question, seen? Do you like to make love with music playing in the background, and if so, whats the usual choice, genre-wise... which music do you use to keep the vibes going, to stoke the passion higher? Since I asked it, let me answer it : I don't usually have music playing when I'm going about that kind of business, cuz too much noise will raise MBJr. and then the party would flop, you done know! When I can though, dancehall is a good choice... the riddims can lend some riddim to your own efforts, you zimi? smily

Now listen, my chosen people. Don't let this stress you out. If you not up to it, don't bodda wid it, but if you're in, accept the baton and see how far oonoo can carry it nuh? Respect! I'm out.

Just Some Stuff

Yammie linked us up to a gallery of pictures of Nadine Willis, so that explains the picture of the day up above... I like that one more than plenty of them, because it looks more natural, you know? Yeah. Pretty girl, though.

Song for the day : Exodus, due to a post by Sunshine that struck a chord within me.

Event to look out for: Destra will be performing here in Grand Cayman on June 3rd, 2005. Gonna have to put this up as one of the events on the horizon, man!Got to find us a baby sitter, rasta! I like Destra!

Also in the offing, though I not sure when, I hear that Machel Montano will be coming soon too! I wonder if him bringing Junko Bashment, rasta? Check her out in the link over in the left hand column, if you doh know who Junko is...

Bwoy, I only hope that Machel comes to Cayman before or after I go on vacation leave... yeah, people, leave is coming... its so close, I can smell it! Whoo hoooo!

4 Months?! WTF?!

Last night, I slept in MBJr's bed... no, Natty and I are not on the warpath! MBJr. watched this movie (something about a little shop of horrors) and since then, the little man has been living in fear! He can't stay in a room by himself, he can't go to use the bathroom by himself, and of course, he can't sleep by himself! smily

Now, I understand that he has been traumatised by this movie, you done know! The problem is that he is now too big for the three of us (him, Natty and I) to sleep in the same bed! It just can't work! It is as uncomfortable as ra$$! Cho, man!

Anyway, I woke up at 2:30am and couldn't go back to sleep for awhile. I was not too pleased about it, but I did a bit of surfing, and I came across this little tidbit!

Renee Zellweger nuh get married to some guy in the Virgin Islands! They were quite happy about the marriage down there, as they feel it will give them some good publicity as a tourist destination, but check this out! Renee and this guy (who seems to be a country music singer) got married after a four month courtship! What is wrong with these movie stars/singers though, eeeh? What, is she in Bridget Jones-mode in real life too? Dem nuh know say this marriage thing is a serious something? I know this sort of thing is just another little thrill for them, but what is it about their type of lifestyle that makes them all seem to live so fast and loose, can anyone tell me? smily

I also read about some asshole calling in a bomb threat on BWIA! What the rass the Caribbean coming to, eeh? Apparently the police have held the man who made the call... Now I would like them to hand a man like that over to people like me... yeah, I know I am always chatting about human rights, but a man who is talking about bombing one of fi we planes? Yow, if they were to make me get a hold of him, its not only the U.S. would be in the news for torturing people, I can assure you! smily

Anyway, me gone again... as you might recognise, I need to hol' a decent sleep tonite, rasta.... Hey, you sleep good too, you hear... I hope that if I dream that I get my hands on the bomb threat bastard, the screams won't wake you all up! smily

Nite nite!

Irie Little Game!

Wow! I was waiting on Natty to call me and I decided to check out mi bredrin's blogs. I stopped by the Tower of Babel and saw that Mr. Man posted a link to a wicked little game still! A nice little IQ test, that is! I did the test in no time and passed with flying colors! Yes I did! smily

How long did it take me? Did I get any help? But Wait! What kind of questions you asking me, doh eeeh? You rude! smily smily

Ok, you think you bad, eh? Well, you go try it then!

Monday Morning Minutiae

I didn't get to fix any breakfast before Natty, MBJr. and I had to chip out for work this morning, so at about 9:00 am, I popped out to Kirk's Supermarket to buy a l'il sup'm sup'm to 'stop up' a gap (cuz I waz hungry), you done know! To get to Kirk's, I drove along the waterfront and I noticed that there wasn't even ONE CRUISE SHIP IN THE HARBOUR!!!

Whats up wit' that! I mean, sure, I was just zipping along without having to worry about 'meeting' some crazy, blind tourist peoples by accident, but still, them tourists do provide plenty, plenty scenery, you know?! Plenty hot young ones walking around in beachwear or something very similar whenever the ships are in and I'm all for that, trust me! Whe dem deh?! Tourists! Cruise Ships! Stop playing, ok?! Come back!

Strange how you don't know you'll miss something until you're actually missing it, huh?

Anyway, so I missed the lovely scenery, but I did get a great breakfast from Kirks Supermarket, I'd recommend it to anyone. It was a-ight!

So, today I got a nice little letter from Human Resources at the bank I am with now... I'm officially off probation, Rasta! Yeaaaahhhh!!! Drinks for everyone this evening at Hammerheads *, ok?! Just show up and say Mad Bull sent you! Give my URL as the password and you'll be good to go!

Aint Got a Rosy Smell Atall, Atall!

Interesting day so far. We got up and hit the beach fairly early, and it was glorious. By the time we left at 10:30am, the sun was just about to show us who was the bigga boss and guess what, rain clouds just swups in so, and some nice likkle rain falling now, cooling off the place. Very nice...

Hey, I was reading the Observer online and came across a review of the latest Star Wars movie. It not pretty, people. After all the big hype and ting, I read that the show is soff! (is not that good!) No wonder they wanted to buss it on the world scene all at once! They must have realised that bad news travels fast and that people would hear that the show soff and would not bother to waste their money. Anyway, if you haven't seen "The Revenge of Sith' yet, maybe you should go and read Analisa Chapman's review. I'll still watch it, but only on DVD, or worse yet, maybe I'll wait till Dish Net gives it to us.

By the way, I rented the movie "Are we there yet?", with Ice Cube and Nia Long. What can I say about the movie? Its quite amusing, but its not the worlds greatest movie. As you might well have suspected, its very predictable movie. I guess it can watch, thats about it. Nia looks great as usual, but the movie suffers a bit (if you like to look pon her) because she doesn't feature enough in it.

TTYL.

Well... They Are... Different.

Bwoy, I was kind of idle this afternoon, so I was doing a little blog jumping. Know what that is? No? Well, its where you click on a link to someone's blog on your site. Then you click on a link to someone else on that person's blog, preferably someone you don't know... you read for a bit, then you do a blog jump (BJ) again. You read a little more, then you do another BJ. (interesting abbreviation, innit? smily)

You can buck up some pretty interesting blogs doing that.

Today, I found a few interesting/zany blogs via this blog jumping actually. One of them got me thinking... tell you what, go and read the guy's post, then come back here and click on the link below...

Saturdays Here Already?

Yesterday was a real easy day at work still, but as an end to a very stressful week, it was perfect! After work, Natty and I took MBJr. and M'Buthelezi to the Canton restaurant in the Strand, along West Bay Road. We had a good time and the food was irie!

Hey, oonoo ever check out this feature they have at MSNBC called 'The Week In Pictures'? I think its pretty cool! Sometimes the pictures there are fantastic! Oonoo must go check them out sometimes.

This week's pictures were no exception, and I stole two to show you, and tell you what I thought of when I saw them... gwaan go check them out nuh?

Kibber Yu Mout'

Do you remember that phrase about the pot calling the kettle black? I wonder if thats politically correct anymore... Boy, we all have to watch what we say so closely, don't we? Poor Vincente Fox (the President of Mexico) seems to have trodden on some (overly sensitive, IMHO) toes with his statement that Mexicans were currently doing jobs in the U.S. that not even the blacks want to do... seems that Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton felt slighted by Foxes statement or something.

What do you all think about what Fox said? Personally, I don't think there was any racist overtones involved. Think about it. Mightn't it be true that there are jobs that American whites don't want to do? Or if they don't mind doing the jobs, mightn't the case be that the whites don't want to do the jobs for the salaries that employers want to pay? I don't live in the U.S. but I know that there are definitely certain jobs that only those in more desperate situations will do back in Jamaica, and here in Grand Cayman, there are jobs that are predominantly held by Jamaicans, Hondurans and Philipinos... the talk I've heard here is that Caymanians (and indeed, other ex-pats) tend not to want to do those jobs, whether the reason be the wage packet or just that the job is looked down upon.

Because I know that this type of thing exists, I feel that I know exactly what el Presidente meant, and there really was nothing wrong with what he was saying, ergo his initial reluctance to apologise. What a world, eeeh? You can't even talk plain everyday facts anymore without someone telling you that you have been politically incorrect.

What a Stress!

People, today was pure stress. It were ruff. Also, I have some reading I need to do and I've been neglecting it. In short, I not stopping long.

Listen nuh, the place well, well dark up! Looks like lots of rain is going to fall, but of course, we will just have to see, won't we?

Hey, apparently a tropical storm is heading this way. Apparently they say it'll be here sometime over the weekend. The strange thing about it is the direction its coming from and the fact that it is not yet the season for the nasty little buggers. Methinks it is planning to bushwhack us, rasta.

Lets hope that it gets turned aside, though we could make use of a little of its rain. Aside from the rain we had over the weekend just gone, the place has been parched beyond belief!

Anyway, me gone. Take it easy, TTYL.

Oldies but Goodies!

Hey, oonoo (you) remember this song? I don't know why, but it came to my mind totally unbidden last night and I was singing out, you simi! I was giving voice, make me tell you!

Then this morning now, on the way to work, what did the DJ Doctah from Vibe FM throw on but the very same song...

I'm in love with a man, nearly twice my age,
I don't know what it is, but its a hit from youthful days,
As I go my way, I don't care what people say,
I'm in love with a man, nearly twice my age!

She nuh waan no igle jube, jube... igle jube,
She nuh waan no igle jube, jube... igle jube,
She nuh waan no lover's honey, she waan di money,
She nuh waan no lover's honey, she waan di money!

etc., etc., etc.

When I tell you girls, in my youthful days,
I never loved another man my age, (jube... jube, jube... jube, jube)
and then the don, he came along
He made me smile all the while, (jube... jube, jube... jube, jube)
and he stood tall and strong, so strong, so strong...

Say young man have strength but that is not sense,
She want a man fi let off recumpense,
True! She wah pay lightbill and rent, and
You know you haffi have a big dividend and
Down di line you pocket haffi have whole heap of length

etc., etc., etc....

Say oonoo remember it! Say it! YESSS! YESSS! YESSSSS!

For di pickney dem that didn't 'membah it (for the kiddies that didn't remember it), that was the great Shabba Ranks and Krystal, circa about 1990 - 91. You just know that I had was to Google it, nuh true? Here, gwaan go take a little listen : Click yahso! Hey, if oonoo want a little piece more, still not the whole thing, but likkle piece more, then click yahso!

There are a lot of other songs that I have been hearing on the radio recently too, sweet reggae and dancehall from back when my mother used to say "Mad Bull, is where you coming from? You live a street!".

Beg oonoo, do! Check dis one out! Its 'Action!', by Terror Fabulous and Nadine Sutherland: Click yahso! Blood cleat!!! Heh heeeeeyyyyyy! This shit takes me back, rude bwoy!

You know what? Make me jus' link the page with some of the songs on it so that all a oonoo can go get your old school vibe on tonight! Gwaan go check them out, you see me... Hey, Me all see "Zung gu zung zugu zung gu zeng, by Yellow Man!

Unfortunately that was on another page and me lost it! smily

You know, now that a couple of years have passed since Shabba and Krystal was playing every minute on the radio with that number, I now have a better understanding of the part of the lyrics when Krystal says :

"Girls, this is my advice to you!
A man that age has good experience!
He'll treat you good, he'll treat you well,
he'll make you rich and proud,
so you won't have to bow, won't have to bow!".

Only one part I doh get? What the backside she mean, dem "won't have to bow?"

She mad or wah? smily

(Oh, for those of oonoo whe interested, check out the daughter pon di album cover!)

I wonder...

The headline screamed : Lara rested! I thought to myself, "Wait, then is this how unimportant the One Day Int'l (ODI) matches are now, that they will give the best batsman that we have now a rest? I wonder if this is really how the story goes? Maybe Lara was dropped because he didn't perform so well in the last serises of ODIs, or maybe he wanted to play some golf instead or hang out with some new girl or go partying somewhere or something...".

I am not alone in wondering if this is indeed the true story. Here is how the same story was presented on CaribbeanCricket.com. Apparently they feel that the selectors are testing the widely bandied about theory that Lara's presence overshadows the team and results in the team performing poorly... I dunno if thats the true story, but I certainly don't buy 100% the story of Lara being rested still!

Anyway, his absence will most likely have little effect on what the result would have been even if he were there. Pakistan will be bashing the West Indies. Thats all there is to it! Mad Bull out!

Wave You Flag!

Hey all! Whatup? The picture above was shot somewhere along West Bay Road, I believe... its of a bunch of revellers who marched along with the Batabano Road March participants. I believe it was Vibe FM who came up with the idea for people who weren't going to be marching in costumes to some on out and march behind the Vibe FM truck and literally wave you flag!

Apparently the people listened and came out and showed their colours, and it was a colourful, pretty site, as you can see by that photo. I didn't actually get to see most of them, as it appears to me that many people drop out before the road march reaches Fort Street, so maybe that isn't the best place to hunker down to watch the parade... I will remember that for next year.

Anyway, there are some pictures up at Partysurfers.ky, if you want to look them over.... me nuh done yet, by the way...

Smyles or the Beach

I just got done watching a movie, 'Changing Lanes', with Samuel Jackson and Ben Affleck. Its not a brand new movie, but its a good show, a very very good show! Of course, you've probably seen it already, nuh true? Bwoy, if I was Samuel Jackson's character, I would have killed the character Affleck played. Sure, Jackson's character tried to kill him, but where I'm different is that I would've succeeded! Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, this would be a good DVD to rent. Just make sure that you find something to occupy your kid(s) time first, so that they'll let you watch the movie in peace, rasta... smily

Now, I have a question for you... Can you guess what I've got on my mind? smily

MBJr. wants to go to Smyles though... I did offer to let him come with to my dream destination instead, but for some strange reason, he opted for Smyles... smily

Smyles is a place where kids go to play, its got a big area with cushions and stuff that they can jump over and stack up and climb on and play in, and they have a big tunnel-thing, like the tunnel-things they have at some Burger King restaurants for kids to play in. They also have some kiddie level arcade-like games too, that you put coins in and grab a joystick and press buttons and waste your parents money in have a lot of fun playing... you know the kind of games I mean, don't you?

I still can't figure out why he opted for Smyles, as I think that he normally would prefer my destination, but I'm going to take him to Smyles anyway. Maybe we can do what I'm thinking of later. If not, theres still tomorrow, and the day after, and.... uhh, thats it! Still, thats not bad at all, is it? smily

So can you guess where I'm dreaming about going? First person with the right answer gets a virtual V/X and Pepsi!

Welcoming the Weekend

Well, its a grey and rainy looking day here in Grand Cayman, and its also Friday the 13th so watch yourselves as you go about your daily business today... still, its also the start of the weekend, and for me, its a long weekend! Yup! Moday is a public holiday here! Its Discovery Day! Thanks, Christopher Columbus!!! smily

Now don't get jealous or nothing! Don't do anything stupid, like gouging your eyes out, or hanging yourselves... Eventually you too will experience the joys of a long weekend, doh fret! T.G.I.F. anyway, seen? TTYL.

Viva La Diferencia

Ok, here are a couple more differences between yahso (here, in Grand Cayman) and Yard *.

Firstly, they just had the elections here, right? Throughout the whole campaigning period, I saw tons of people wearing party shirts, openly on the road... even little children standing on the roadside with friends. I was actually given a t-shirt by one party, the UDP, but seeing as I came from Yard, it wasn't in me to wear my t-shirt out on the road, because its definitely not something I would do back home! If you try that shyte back home, it would not be something unheard of for some stupid, bad-mind person to pick a fight with you or even to perforate you with a knife or a bullet or an ice pick or even for them to do something as unconsionable as to fling acid on you, because trust me, politics is taken so very seriously back home, and, I guess, understandably so.

After all, when governments have changed in the past back home, all kinds of bad things would happen to supporters of the losing party, including being forced to abandon their homes under threat of violence and death so that supporters of the new Government could take up residence! (as discussed so well by Mark Wignall recently in the Jamaica Observer...)

Anyway, me nuh done yet, mah peeps... click the link below to continue, nuh?

Happy Election Day!

Hey hey hey, one and all... Whats up? So how is work going for you all today? Me, I'm at home chillin'. Didn't I tell you that today was Election Day here? I am sure that I did. Anyway, because of that, we got a public holiday! I am happy for it, bwoy, you wouldn't know how much! smily

So I haven't budged from the house all day. What have I been doing to amuse myself? Well, I noticed that the Jamaica Gleaner has started to offer an RSS feed of their news stories. I decided to add the links to their major news stories to my page. Interesting little exercise it was too... I may refine it further soon too, we shall see.... Anyway, scroll down and look in the right-most column, below the "Users Online" box. Thats where I decided to put it. The headlines form the link to the news story and if you res' di mouse over the link without clicking on the link, you willbe able to preview the news story. Cute, huh? I like it anyway!

I really ought to get up from in front of this computer for a bit now though. Maybe I should go do some calisthenics... Don't laugh! What, you can't believe that I would do some actual exercise? What, just because I haven't done much of anything since before the year started? Guwhey! Watch, see if I don't do it... tune in later and I'll tell you how it went...

For A Million Dollars

Ok, Doc, me know say you hear this one already. Still, maybe one or two people haven't and thye might appreciate it. Here is a joke I got from off the 'Net, it was funny, and since I don't have much else to tell you, I thought I'd drop it on you. Check it out :

A young Jamaican yute, Errol, asks his step-dad for some help. He says, "Dad, can you tell me the difference between potential and reality?"

His step-father looks up thoughtfully, and says, "Mek mi show yuh. Go ask yuh madda if she would sleep with Beres Hammond fi one million dollars.
Next, ask your sister if she would sleep with Beres Hammond fi one million dollars. Then go ask yuh bradda if him would sleep with Beres Hammond fi one million dollars. Then come back and tell me wha yu find out."

The yute is puzzled, but he decides to see if he can figure out what his stepfather means.

He asks his mother, "Mammy if someone gave you a million dollars would you sleep with Beres Hammond?" His mother looks around slyly, and then with a little smile on her face says, "Don't tell yuh poopah, but yes, I would."

Then he goes to his sisters room and asks her,"Sis, if someone gave you a million dollars, would you sleep with Beres Hammond?" His sister looks up and says, "Cho! Him kinda old still but wid di amount a clothes mi coulda buy definitely me wudda give him a grine!"

Then he goes to his brother's room and asks him, "Eh yow, if someone gave you a million dollars, would you sleep with Beres Hammond?" His brother thinks about it for a minute and says, "Fyah bun fi dem ting deh but fi a million bucks, I suppose I would. Just one time duh".

Errol goes back to his stepfather and says, "Poopah mi tink mi figured it out. Potentially, wi sittin on tree million dollars, but in reality, wi ah live wid two skettel an ah battyman." smily

Movie review time. I watched two shows recently... Alfie and "In Good Company". People, they were both great, I'd recommend them to everyone. Alfie got lower ratings, but I enjoyed it! Also, I think that Nia Long AND Marissa Tomei are incredibly hot! Phew... There is Nia over there on your left. Doctor D, you and a couple other guys that I know, including Trouble could use the ideas that the movie "Alfie" is trying to impart. Gentlemen, its time y'all stopped being such playas. smily

"In Good Company" was probably a bit better than "Alfie", it was a really good show. One area in which they both have something in common: They are both hilarious! Gwaan out and go rent the DVDs, people.

Finally, I dropped by OwenSoft.com earlier, and he has asked a great question! Why don't you all go check his page out, read his question and then throw yourselves into the scenario he has created and answer his question! Only, go eat something first... Everyone whos answered so far seems to be hungry. I'm going to go check your responses, people. Here is a link to the advert I mentioned in my answer... Bwoy, I don't know how some people say that they think Britney is better looking and sexier than Christina. Dem must be mad! Hmph! If I ever get arrested, I want Xtina to be the cop to frisk me... smily

Chris Rock Chat....

LOL, LOL, LOL! LOL, LOL, LOL! Hah hah hah hahhhhhh! Natty and I were just watching Chris Rock on HBO! Chris Rock is definitely the KING OF COMEDY!!!

Natty was really into it, I tell ya! So was everybody in the audience. Chris Rock has a way of cracking jokes about the very things that are affecting many of us listeners, don't you think? At the very least, he has pinpointed thigs that happen to some of us and to large enough numbers of us that he is sure to find a few people in his audience that can empathise with whatever he is talking about... After all, when the camera pans as he is giving his jokes, you can easily tell the people who are more than just feeling his jokes, you know what I mean? They are the ones laughing uncontrollably!

Anyway, so we were watching Chris Rock and he was going on about the difference between married sex and the sex you had before marriage.... of course, I don' t agree with him, right, but he was maintaining that you have MUCH better and indeed, much more sex before you are married than after you get married! He was stressing the point: "Married people don't get blowjobs anymore.... they get fellatio...." and Married men don't suck your pussy any more! I mean, they will put on one coat, but they ain't going to spit-shine that mofo anymore, once they is married!". He went on and on about that, and they were constantly panning the cameras into the crowd, and you could see all the couples who were having issues re the very same thing... laughing uncontrollably, or holding their head in their hands, and hiding it, embarrassed just to hear their issue being discussed... Anyway, what do you feel about this point he raised? Is it true, or is your husband/wife still going on STRONG in that department? Whats the concensus? Cho! I sure oonoo gwine 'fraid to answer that question!

I don't know about y'alls, but I love Chris Rock! He sorta wimped out the Academy Awards, but that man would choke a laugh out of a recently widowed woman whose man left her with 15 pickney and who never left one red cent, rasta!

So anyway, we had a pretty decent Mother's day here in Bodden Town, although Natty will say that she had to wash a dish too many and so on, but as Chris Rock says, you really can't please women, can you? smily

We DID have a decent day, with chinese food and Haagen Dazs ice cream being devoured and with some good movies watched, and the day was good despite MBJr. starting to feel ill, with headaches and fevers. He really behaved well, despite all that. Big up, my yute! I hope hes better in the morning. Anyway, I-man haffi flash! TTYL!

Happy Mother's Day

I haven't had an inspirational 'bolt from the blue' yet, so I don't have a nice, yummy issue to post about. I was going to wait until I came up with said 'bolt' before posting and wishing all the mothers compliments at the same time that I posted my regular post, but it just occurred to me that the role that mothers play is of such importance that it warrants a post by itself.

As such, let me take this opportunity to wish all you mother bloggers out there and all my readers who are mothers "Happy Mother's Day!".

Special mention goes out to Ciya, Sunshine, Desiree, Campfyah and new mom Nena! (becuz I believe the foetus is a full fledged human being, with a soul and ting, but I'll say no more, because is politiocs dat!)

Also, let me wish my Mom and Natty a Happy Mother's Day here too! Big up to the two of oonoo, and nuff respect! I love you!

Hey, if you read here and you're a Mom and you didn't see your name called, well, you prolly need to interact with me more... lef' some comment and ting, and I will sound you up inna di hours!

Peace!

Whaddup?

Hey, all... whaddup? Bwoy, I have been having a rough week! As a matter of fact, I was supposed to go to the Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires (BL&D) concert last night and I never even went, because I was ultra tired! I only got three hours of sleep on Thursday night, so instead of BL&D, I went to BED! And my money bun up, too, you know, because I had pre-purchased tickets! Bwoy, after all the problems I have had with pre purchased tickets, I still go and buy them, huh? You'd think I'd learn! Oh well, at least I got some good sleep.

So whats been going on with me? Well, as you might have read before, we recently went live on a new system at work. One of the interface programs that was developed by someone else has dropped into my lap, because the developer resigned, and trust me, it is giving me lots of trouble (not to mention grey hairs). You see, the interface programs were implemented using ASP.Net technology and I don't know much about ASP.Net, yet! I don't have a problem with learning it, but unfortunately the system is live, rasta! Learning time is therefore very limited! The thing needs to be fixed NOW! Anyway, I won't belabour you all with my troubles... suffice it to say that I will be going in to work today again, even though the Batabano Road March is today! Of course, I will go out and watch as the people march by, but I guess I will be perched behind my little desk for a fair percentage of the rest of the day. Anyway, hopefully we'll kill this problem real quick and I can get back to more regular work hours...

By the way, I just noticed something! I dropped by PlanetRyan, Inc. and noticed that Ryan has resumed blogging there, even if its a bit intermittently. Good thing I dropped by! I learned something. Have you all been having trouble getting on to MSN Instant Messenger recently? Maybe this is why... I downloaded the upgrade and hopefully that'll clear up all problems.... fecking nasty l'il hackers! smily

If you have been having issues with MSN Instant Messenger, maybe you should download it too... What, you've done this aeons ago? Yeah, I guess I did have my head buried in the sand. smily

Another thing I noticed at Ryan's place... Ryan's latest post is about the Pope. He seems to have found a picture of the Pope when he was a young man, and people, Ryan favours (looks like) the Pope bad-bad! Doh believe me? go to Ryans and check! Ryan has a picture of himself up beside the Popes picture and trust me, I want some DNA testing done! Maybe the Pope wasn't always celibate, you done know.... smily

Anyway, let me leave you with a couple of laughable links...

First, I do believe that people should do the best that they can at whatever is their calling but I still think that the idea of sex worker schools is a bit on the edge, don't you?

In my morning surf, I came across this article in the Trinidad Guardin by Caroline Ravello... its got some amusing stuff in it, like an interesting story about a woman who was apparently experiencing 'pre-partum' depression! She tried to run over a cop, just one day before delivery! Afterwards, she told the cops that she mistook the cop she tried to kill as a 'friend' of hers... smily

People crazy, eeeh? Anyway, me gone for now... Peace!

Stuff Going On.

I'm out of posting ideas tonight. Let me just tell you a bit about whats going on in my neck of the woods. First, there is an election coming up here... I think its next week. There has been a fair amount of campaigning going on, and its sort of amazing to me as there isn't much (open) animosity. Imagine, the people here were making a big deal about some posters which were defamed! They don't know when they have a good thing going on, bwoy! Its going to be an interesting election, mah peeps... I definitely have my preferences, but I'm not saying who I'm rooting for.

Next up, Batabano! Yes, folks, its carnival time here in the Cayman Islands. The big road parade is on this weekend, and I plan to be on the road, watching... Maybe I'll go to Fort Street, by the Courthouse again. It was a nice spot last year...

Whats carnival in Cayman like? Well, last year's parade was pretty decent, and hopefully, they will have taken it up a notch this year. It is a bit different than back in Jamaica though, where they seem to have many soca fetes... I don't know of many here... also, tomorrow is the first that they will be having a band playing Soca at any event that I know about. Tomorrow, Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires will be taking the stage at an event at Pedro's Castle, and Friday night they'll be playing out at Safe Haven. Natty and I, and the DSS Doc and Shoma have tickets for Friday night and M'Buthelezi has said she'll baby sit, so it'll be fun, fun, fun until Natty takes the Accord key away! smily

By the way, I have had my face buried in front so much that I didn't even notice it, but I have now been here for one full year, and a couple of days. What do I mean, face buried in front? In front de computah, peeplz... what did you think I meant? Something that rhymes with front? Nah... pity though, huh? Anyway, I've been here for one full year. Interesting... I will have to raise a glass to that on Friday night. I will probably also second that motion, so you done know. Anyway, I won't keep you overlong tonight, as that 'front' thing has given me some ideas. smily

A manana...

What a Gwaan

You know what I don't understand? Tonight I was playing video games with MBJr., and I noticed again somthing that I've noticed before. When I play video games with him, he becomes totally competitive! He is all smiles and joy if he wins, but he becomes angry, petulant and mizzerable if he loses!

I mean, mizzerable, you know! Bawly-bawly, whiney whiney... just awful!

The thing about it is, when he is playing with another kid, he usually doesn't get on like that. If they beat him, he accepts it much better. If they're beating him endlessly, he gets bored and goes and finds something else to do, without any fuss. If he wins, he enjoys himself, but seemingly not as much as he does when he beats me.

I don't know why hes like that. I haven't figured it out yet. Maybe the reason is that he considers me to be such a wuss at these games that if I win, its like he has undergone a fate worse than death.

Maybe its because there is some latent competitiveness that just goes with the species, kind of like how young wolves, or lions or bucks bide their time until they can wrest control of the flock or the herd from the old alpha male...

Maybe its just that he knows that other kids won't give a flying phuck if he crys them a river, but he knows that he will always have a soft spot in my heart, and so he hopes to gain an unfair advantage by crying his eyes out. Anyway, tonight was no different than the other times that I've beat him. After awhile of the bawling, awful behavior, Natty and I took him for a drive, ostensibly to return some DVDs, but also to put him to sleep.

That worked like a charm, boy! Crying is serious business, you know! It tires you out, and now he's out... like a light, that is... smily

You know, its been a long time since I posted a joke on this site, or gave you something to laught at or about... people, Cool Destiny has offered the remedy. She has posted an analysis of all the major types of jobs that people hold and an analysis of what kind of people hold these jobs. It is really irie! Gwaan go read it and post a comment on her site, then come back here and comment and tell me which Job type best describes you... Hey, now I know why Trouble is an engineer, and why Doctor D could easily have been one! Doc, you missed your calling, rasta! smily

Hey people, they have been running me ragged at work of late, which is why I haven't been by to see all your blogs so much. Doh worry though, I will soon drop in for a drink and a chat, seen? Chat to you later...

Two Wonders of the World

You know, I have been to Arizona once. It was a business trip, and it was only for three days and it was pretty busy, so I never did get to see the Grand Canyon. I liked it out there in the desert. Thats the first place where I ever saw them using little pipes to emit a very fine spray to cool down people walking up and down around stores and offices in the heat of the desert day. I thought it was pretty cool, and it kept you pretty cool too so... When next I saw it, they were doing it for an Olympics (or was that a World Cup? Can't remember.). Neato idea, though.

Actually, it was in Arizona that I first went to a Hooters too. smily That was also cool! Plenty cool stuff, huh?

I also went to the top of a pretty tall building, I don't remember the name, but it was most likely the tallest building I have ever set foot in. Yeah, I did go to New York too, but I didn't go to the Twin Towers or to the Empire State Building, because if you have been visiting here for awhile, you know that Mad Bull and the heights thing don't take tea!

Anyway, we went to the top of the building, to a restaurant they had there. The big thing about the restaurant was that it was revolving, and you were able to view the scenery in every direction. The place was beautiful, man! Who would have thought that the desert could be such a beautiful place. From the restaurant too, I had an awesome view of the Camelback mountains. Very pretty, though it appeared to be nothing but rock. I really couldn't make out any vegetation at all!

Anyway, with all my fond memories, I can't get over the fact that I went all the way to Phoenix and I didn't get to see the Grand Canyon! That just sucks! Then tonight I went to Whaddat for the first in a very long time, and I see that a buddy of mine went to Arizona too, and he managed to go to see the Grand Canyon, and now I am feeling so jealous! Have a look at my buddy chillin' and checking the Grand Canyon out! smily

By the way, Quizz seems to have revamped Whaddat dot Com in a very big way! Go and check Whaddat out, y'all!

The JFJ, On Patrol!

I didn't get a chance to post anything yesterday, bwoy! I loafed out the morning surfing, then I went to work in the afternoon (and was there for much longer than I had planned, but I resolved what I went there to fix, so its all good! )

After that, I went to the DSS Doctor's house for dinner, didn't get home till late and I was too tired to come chat with oonoo... You forgive me? No? Chupse! smilysmily

One of the things of note about the Jamaican society is that the police force are widely believed to be somewhat abusive in the way they go about their jobs. I only need to go back to the Braeton Seven affair, (which recently went through the courts back home, and in which the policemen involved were acquitted, much to my horror) or to the Kraal killings, which I just read will be coming up for mention in the courts in September of this year. I will have to listen out for that one's outcome.

Anyway, the society is somewhat divided on these issues, as the criminals are so phucking bloodthirsty that some people are willing to accept a little police brutality in exchange for a (hoped for but definitely not delivered) reduction in crime. At the other end of the spectrum, there are those Jamaicans who feel that we should not allow anyone's rights to be trampled, even convicted murderers!

Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) is an organisation which works hard to ensure that people's rights are upheld, and they frequently are at odds with the police force, given the heavy handed application of law enforcement they are wont to provide. The Jamaicans who are willing to trade away their rights out of fear of the gunmen have become detractors of the JFJ, saying that they are only protecting the rights of the killers and the criminals, but that they don't give one whit for the rights of the victims. Of course, this is not so, and this news story proves it. If you read it through, you will see mention of the JFJ issuing a news release urging anyone with information on the perpetrators of the killing of Linval Thompson (the hit that Doctor D wrote of recently, where the man was shot in the head as he sat in between two other people in the back of a taxi, on his way to work) to come forward. I am sure that they do just the same thing in many, many cases, working for the rights of the victims, but the cases of police brutality are sexier news items, and so those get thrust to the fore all the time. Unfortunately, you hardly ever hear about the JFJ's work when its for the victims unless the police are the ones in their gunsights.

Seven, Doctor D, check this out. I just noticed that one of my friend's nine year old sons was in the papers for the scintillating performance he put on in go-kart racing recently! Maybe he can teach MBJr. the runnings. His parents must be quite proud. Since both of you know the parents too, give the article a read nuh! Bwoy, Neil head mussi swell now, you know! smily

I must email Sheggy to pass on my congrats...
