To fail to plan...

Heres another rum bokkle post... or is it? smily

Bwoy... life is so interesting. It is just unpredictable.... it has so many twists and turns. It is... complex... Try as you might, you cannot plan for everything, and yet you must try! "To fail to plan is to plan to fail", it has been said, and I believe that! Thats why it sort of hurts when you see people just sitting and allowing chance to rule their lives. "Yow! Try something nuh!", you want to tell them.

Rass! You do tell them! Do they listen?

Another saying that I have learned is "If you don't know your history, you are bound to repeat it.". I have been looking into history and I have seen some things and it ain't pretty... Basically, people, the best friend you can have is money in the bank! If you don't have that, sometimes your goose done pluck already, the oven done heat up... its just for you to put the rass goose in!

But you need to plan. You also need to have a backup plan. Maybe a few of them. Without plans, life is not pretty... sometimes even when you do, put in place some plans, life is not pretty... but at least you did try, which is what we have been put here for.

I am sure that I have mentioned before on this site that IMHO, life is just a test... not necessarily a simple pass / fail kind of test , but a test never the less... "Shit has happened. Now what you gonna do?". Whatever the outcome, it doesn't mean that you have failed, because even when it looks to everyone else like you have failed, maybe your goals have been met?!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I remember reading somewhere that in times of old, when a person grew too old to fend for himself or herself, the person would think of the tribe. "I am too old to hunt. I still consume food, food needed by the hunters and the gatherers to provide strength for themselves so that they can go and look for food for the children, who are our future!", they would say to themselves. "Our future is so important! Against that, I am as nothing! I have become a burden, and if I stick around, I may cause my tribe to fail... we might die out... we might vanish from the earth! I cannot allow that!". In many tribes, the old folk used to just walk out into the wilderness. They would just disappear... the tribe members knew what was going on... they would pretend that the old folk had disappeared too... hell, in cases where the elderly didn't want to live up to what was expected of them, sometimes the tribe would 'disappear' these old folks themselves!

They would just pretend that they had become invisible!

What are your thoughts on that sort of thing? Is life so important that people should strive at all costs to prolong it, even when things could be more productive and beneficial to all if the scarce resources available were allocated according to the "needs of the tribe"?

For instance, what are you going to do? When you get old-old-old and people need to wipe your batty for you?Do you want to stick around in those circumstances? If they do decide to wipe your ass for you, would you enjoy that, or would you want to be outta here?

Hey, your plans have to be all encompassing, you know... you even have to plan for things like this!

What you gonna do if / when these decisions come for you?

Friends of Cayman

As I have written before in the pages of this very same blog, Grand Cayman suffered terribly at the merciless hand of Hurricane Ivan (the Terrible). I receive an email from a gentleman named Tom Comfort asking me to give his website a link. His site is Friends of Cayman dot org, a site dedicated to the repair and reconstruction of badly damaged homes on Grand Cayman. The site provides links to many charitable organisations which are accepting donations towards the rebuilding/recovery effort. Its a good cause, and so he gets his link.

Its all about the
Cayman Recovery
effort!

Still, I would have linked his site just based on the interesting content, because he features a slideshow with some pictures that show some of the damage wrought by the hurricane, good pictures all... its interesting, I recommend that you go have a look at it. Also, through this site you can get a free DVD with more pictures and a narrative too, go check the site out if you're interested in getting a copy of the DVD. If its the same one I bought, its a US$30 value...

Don't Do the Trike Thing

Well, Natty and I have been busy at work the whole week and MBJr. has been at home the whole time so we decided to take him to Rum Point yesterday. First, let me say that while this may not have been the hottest day of the year, it was still hot nuh rass! Natty elected not to swim, she sat on a beach chair in the shade of a bunch of Casuarina trees the whole time, but she still felt mega-sapped by the heat! At the same time, it was an irie day, probably the best time I've had at Rum Point since the other two times I was there, the day was quite overcast! Twas a very nice day indeed.

MBJr. enjoyed himself immensely. Of course, he didn't want to leave when it was time. The water is so shallow up at Rum Point, and it stays shallow going out so far that I even let him play in it without following him in for long periods. Natty and I just kept our eyes on him, because he is still unable to swim. I hope to get him enrolled in swimming classes over the coming week, if I can find any going on... Here is a picture of him playing around in the shallows, in the shade of the said casuarina trees... Anyway, eventually MBJr. decided that he wanted to go out on on of those water-trike things, you know those tricycles with wheels which have tiny paddles alog their sides.... the wheels are really big flotation devices and the trike seats two adults. They allow those adults to pedal the trike around in the water. The problem with them is that they don't work very well.

The paddles on the side of the tires are tiny! As such, they don't propel the craft through the water very well! Now I have not been getting much exercise at all, so when I took MBJr. out on the trike, I nearly died! What a lot of pedalling! I rented the trike for an hour and I don't think I took more than 20 minutes with the damned thing! By the time we got back to the beach, I could barely push the trike out of the water! I then went back to my beach lounge chair and flopped down on it and didn't move for about 10 - 15 minutes! Natty was worried that maybe I was going to have a heart attack! I was nowhere near that, but I was so tired!

People, if you haven't done much exercise recently, stay far from those trikes! Take my stupid advice. A word to the wise is sufficient. Awoah!smily

Actually, I would go out on a trike again, but I wouldn't stay out so long, and I'd prefer to go with an adult who can help to pedal the damned thing, rasta! It is good exercise though and the Lord knows I need some of that. Next time I will take out a kayak! I love those! I wanna take out one of their wave runners too. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.

Black Women are People too...

Look what I stumbled across this morning! A lot of people have been saying that the media tends to cover only white women who go missing... They really don't consider it news when black people go missing. Well, a black woman went missing and a blogger drew the media's attention to it and they mentiond it a bit on their networks... see what blogging can do? This blogger made the point that black women are people too!

"His point," Carlson said of Blair, "was the obvious one. And it is that black women from city centers, from urban areas, who disappear get none of the coverage that those like Natalee Holloway get, who are obviously from a different demographic. And, you know, it's impossible to deny the truth of this."

Online Maps

There is a summer worker who is working right beside me. He will be going off to university soon, and as such, he is doing tons of research on the university he is supposed to be attending. He went on the net and got a map of the area where his university is. He was able to see the individual buildings on the compound. He was able to identify all the clubs and restaurants in the vicinity, and go to their websites, look at their menus and prices. He was able to look at and select some housing, using price, distance from the university, etc as qualifying factors. There is so much info out there on the net, it boggles the mind when you really think about it!

He gave me the idea to look to see what info they had on the university I attended, University of the West Indies, Mona Campus!

Heres a Joke For Ya!

I got this one in email and found it hilarious! I'm sure you guys will love it. You know how a lot of these emails say something like "If you don't send this out to ten people in two hours, your granny, your mother, your wife and your daughter will all give it up to a syphilitic man with AIDS and they will all die in a week!"? You know what I mean, they all contain something like this... lets call it the exhortation.

Well the exhortation from this email joke goes like this, and I believe it!

"If you don't send this to five old friends right away there will be five fewer people laughing in the world.". smily

And heres the joke:

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company. One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that she's lost. Wandering about, she notices a leopard heading rapidly in her direction with the intention of having lunch.

Of course, there is more...

Chaos Reigns...

Oonoo reading the headlines? Bombings... earthquakes... hurricanes... bombings... fires... famine... genocide... bombings... yadda yadda yadda. Its enough to make you wonder if all those religions on the lunatic fringe were right about the end of the world being near!? Chh! (a Caymanian expression... they all seem to say it. It seems to mean something loosely like "Can you believe it?" or "My God!" or something of that nature...)smily

With pure madness and natural disasters overtaking the entire planet, how could I believe that the Cayman Islands would remain unscathed? Crime seems to have begun to take over these irie islands! At least, its what is on everyones lips, and in everyones email boxes too! I got this in my email today...

Sorry to be the bearer of not so good news, but this is important. Crime in our little island is getting more creative every day, and apparently the new tactic being used is this: Thieves are using slingshots to thrown stones and marbles into moving car windows thus causing a startled driver to stop and get out of the car. At this point in time they rob the driver and take the car to commit other robberies (one driver, I've been told, was nearly placed in the trunk of his car much like that other car jacking victim a few weeks back) and then abandon the car. The police then finds the car (which is now associated with other crimes) and tracks down the owner, while the real culprits are making their getaway.

This has been going on recently, particularly at night. So please: BE CAREFUL. If you hear your window break *DO NOT STOP*.

Hmph... I know that they were doing crap like this back in Jamaica at one time, only there they would bump the back of your car with theirs... then, when you got out to take their particulars, they would dus' you out (either bad-man you up at gun point or even kill you if necessary) and take your car... seems like the marble/stone option is more cost effective at least, as they wouldn't have to repair their car, huh?

Bwoy, I just hope that they are checking if you have your windows up before they fire their slingshots! If you had your window down and the stone or the marble hit you instead of the car window, that might spoil your day somewhat, nuh true? Anyway, to any Caymanians who read here and who didn't get this email, be careful just in case there is some truth in what was in the email.

Anyway, I am going to run now. I can't stay too long, lest Natty starts to think that I am like the guy in this little video! smily (maybe you need broadband to really view this... sorry, Doctor D... give it a try still, but...)

I-man gone!

Mi Deh Yah

Yeah, mah peeps, I am back in Cayman again and I must say it feels good to be home, even though my vacation was pretty decent! I have been reading up peoples blogs and past posts and commenting and such delights so I can't drop no big post tonight. Just dropped in to let you know that I'm back, I had a couple of nice safe flights back home, nothing was stolen as far as I can see, no flat tires, all the cars started.... so far so good!

I am gone again for tonight though... work again early o'clock, you done know! TTYT.

Just a Yow Oonoo

Very busy day today! We have been quite busy with Busch Gardens and movies and visiting with Natty's and my family here in Tampa, so we hadn't had an opportunity to do any shopping... Of course, we had plenty of shopping to do (stuff costs less here than in the Cayman Islands) so we took part in a shopping marathon today. Nothing like a mall crawl to wear you down, you done know!

After the hard day's spending, walking and carrying heavy bags, we ...

Fun, Fun, Fun at Busch Gardens

So JayG has this scale at home, it weighs you, which most scales do, but this scale also allows you to put in information re your height and age. The scale has some metal strips that you stand on. It uses these strips to send an electrical charge through your body or something. It uses this to calculate the amount of body fat you have. smily

Why would anyone think to create such a diabolical device, now I ask you? Worse, why would anyone think of buying such a device? I always suspected that JayG was a sick, twisted individual, and now here I have the proof! smily

Hmmm... height : 6', age : 40, weight : 202.4 lbs., body fat : 27%.... JayG informed me that the body fat percentage really shouldn't go much higher than 18%...
Bwoy, when my 'vacation' leave is over, I swear I will do better... I think... smily

The Best Daisy Duke?

Hey, I saw a music video recently, it was Jessica Simpson dressed in her "Daisy Duke" outfit singing "These Boots Are Made For Walking". I had read sometime ago that one of those scandal rags (ie. the Star, the Globe, the Enquirer) had run a poll and that Jessica Simpson was voted to be the hotter Daisy Duke, out of herself and Catherine Bach!

There is no accounting for taste, is there? In my opinion, the people who took part in the poll must've been CRAZY! I mean, Jessica DEFINITELY has a good body, you won't get any argument from me there. Also, based on her dancing in the video, she looks like she could do well if she took up stripping! She put down some sexy dancing, Iyah! She definitely knows how to move!

Still, Catherine was off the hook back in the day! Yow, I am not ashamed to admit that she fuelled many a fantasy in my adolescent years! She was hot like pepper!

Jessica does have some good stuff going for her, but still, she just doesn't look anywhere near as good as Catherine did to me, and especially on the facial beauty front! Overall, I HAVE to say that Catherine wins hands down in my book! What oonoo think?

Oh, heres a little movie review... I took MBJr. to see "Madagascar". He liked it, so if you've got kids, feel free to take them. Do not, however, think you'll like it too much. It is nowhere near as good as Shrek, Shrek2 or the Incredibles. The best part of the film was watching the lemurs singing "I want to Move It!", IMHO...

What Is Life?

Bwoy, life is something else, isn't it? Its so uncertain sometimes. You will make well thought out plans and yet, life will sometimes throw you such a curveball. Of course, sometimes these curveballs cause things to work out better than you had originally planned, but quite often the curveballs are not nice at all.

I read in last Sunday's Observer of one such instance where the uncertain and capricious nature of life showed up pretty clearly. The second page had a news story about the prominent hotelier Godfrey Dyer and two of his employees being badly burnt in a gas-fuelled explosion at the Seacastles Resort. Apparently all three suffered third degree burns over large parts of their bodies and they have all been hospitalized. smily

Way in the middle of the same Observer they ran another story!

Thanks and Praises

Well, we have to give thanks that Hurricane Emily has decided to give us a chance still... We got some rain, but thats about it! Also, given the looks of the "cone" (the projected likely path the hurricane might travel) shown elsewhere on the net, Emily may well do the same thing to the Cayman Islands. We happy so till, me a tell you! smily

So, I have been over here in "Paradise" (Jamaica) since Sunday... here are some of my impressions...
The roads are phucked! Potholes everywhere, far more and far deeper than when I left. My bro-in-law Metre assures me that this is as a result of Hurricane Dennis, but I don't know... nevertheless, one has to concentrate really hard so as to avoid coming to a horrible end... front end, that is, though some of the yawning potholes do resemble graves far more than they do potholes.

Construction seems to be going on everywhere! That is a sure sign that the economy is undergoing an upturn and I really hope it continues and grows! It couldn't be more welcome, I tell you. Still, with the way these hurricanes seem to be lining up and targetting the Caribbean islands who knows if this upswing may not eventually slip from Jamaica's tenuous grasp.

Oh yeah, and guess what? The authorities have arrested the man who ran Dyoll! Remember how I have written about the failure of Dyoll (reputedly due to mismanagement and neglegence) and how that affected people who had insured their property with Dyoll after Hurricane Ivan? Well, Natty felt sorry for the man, but as far as I am concerned, the arrest is a good thing! Maybe people will start to treat other peoples money more responsibly as a result.

In other news, I have once again been made aware of the views of the Cayman Islands held by most middle class Jamaicans. Check these experiences out :

I met a man I have known for years in the bank and I was telling him that I now lived in the Cayman Islands. He asked for my son, and I told him that he was going into year two of preparatory school in September. "I didn't know that they had schools in Cayman!" he exclaimed jokingly. Can you believe it?

Next, I was standing with my mother outside Hilo in Manor Park later that day and a woman she knows walked up to say hi. Mamacita introduced me as her son who was visiting from Cayman. Hear the fiesty woman nuh! "Oh, Cayman! I guess you must be having a hard time adjusting to being in this VAST country?". I was dumbstruck for a bit, I tell you! smily

Finally, my uncle was chatting to Mom on the hurricane issue and he was telling Mom how good it was that I was here, because "the Cayman Islands are rather like Lime Cay, tiny and flat!"... Now I ask you? Lime Cay, rasta? C'mon, man?! smily

Quite interesting, I tell you! These people need to visit Cayman to see how developed it is now and how it compares, don't you think? Anywayz...

Today was my brother-in-law's mother's birthday...

Show-off Brings Disgrace

This post, like the last two, are delayed broadcasts... by that, I mean that they were written and published days ago, one from as long ago as Tuesday! This post is being written at 9:30 on Thursday the 7th, for instance... How many of you guessed that this was what I was doing? Maybe not too many, huh?

Still, the signs were there. After all, big Hurricane Dennis about to box Jamaica in her jaw corner and then come on to kick the Cayman Islands in the butt and my posts are looking at Dancehall and carjackings? Surely it seems a bit out of step? I should be shivering in my boots and all I should be able to talk about is Dennis, nuh true? After all, my Mom and my sister are in Jamaica, along with countless bredrins and sistrens, and then we are going to face Dennis next, and who knows what this will do to my Saturday morning flight to Jamaica and my vacation? smily

Anyway, now is not the time to fret! We have to stand up an fight on through this storm, and any others to come too! What we need right now is a little laugh, rasta! Take in this little shot of humour then nuh:

Joe grew up in Jamaica, then moved away to attend college and law school. He decided to come back to Jamaica because he felt he could be a "Big Shot" at home. He really wanted to impress everyone.

So he returned and opened his new law office in New Kingston. The first day, he saw a man coming up the passageway. He decided to make a big impression on this new client when he arrived. As the man came to the door Joe picked up the phone. He motioned the man in, all the while talking.

"No. Absolutely not. You tell those clowns in New York that I won't settle this case for less than one million. Yes, the Appeals Court has agreed to hear that case next week. I'll be handling the primary argument and the other members of my team will provide support. Okay, tell the D.A. that I'll meet with him next week to discuss the details."

The "conversation" went on for almost five minutes. All the while the man sat patiently as Joe rattled instructions. Finally, Joe put down the phone and turned to the man, "I'm sorry for the delay but as you can see, I'm very busy. What can I do for you?"

The man replied, "I'm from Cable & Wireless, the telephone company, I came
to hook up your phone." smily smily

Hope you all found that funny! There is just a little bit more...

Masked Men in Bulletproof Vests...

... and, no, they weren't policemen! I don't know if y'all have noticed it, this tendency for law enforcement officers nowadays to dress up in masks! One time gone that was the preserve of thieves and bad mind, generally wicked and cantankerous pplz! Interesting how the cops have taken up that practice, nuh true?

Anyway, here's a strange one... they had a carjacking here Friday last (July 1). Apparently three armed men wearing masks and bulletproof vests held a construction worker at gunpoint. They attempted to bundle him into his car trunk, but the man resisted and eventually, the three men made off with the car but left the man. ('im lucky eeeh?)

The carjacking was all over the radio waves and the R.C.I.P. gave out a description of the vehicle and asked people to be on the lookout for it. They advised people not to approach the carjackers because they were to be considered armend and dangerous.

Tuesday morning I heard on the radio that the car was found. The men were not found, howerver the police were investigating and hoped to apprehend them. They were still asking members of the public with any information which might help their efforts to call them, and they were still warning members of the public, if they saw the man, not to approach them, because they were armed and dangerous...

Now, weren't these men said to wearing masks? How the hell would we know if we saw them now? What, are they still wearing their masks, or wha'? The masks must be grafted to their faces, to rass!smily

Still, too much criminal activity is going on nowadays... Steps need to be taken to nip it in the bud, Iyah!

Eediat, Eediat Ting Dat!

You know, sometimes I really have to wonder if our reggae singers and DJs have any sense at all in their heads? Imagine I read over at Jdid's that I Wayne, one of our up and coming singers, commented publicly that Trinidad's Soca music is the Devil's music... smily

You nuh see say dah man deh mad! smily

What makes Soca any worse than Dancehall, where lyrics like "Pon bed, pon floor, against wall", or "Cock it up, Jack it up, Dig out the red!" are common place, or where the lyrics exhort murder, as in the case of all the lyrics that fight down homosexuals, or the bad man lyrics which are also fairly common?

I Wayne, a eeediat ting dat!

I touched on the lyrics of hate above, but me ago mention it again! I read over at B.art & Life that Beenie Man and Bounty Killa are not going to be a part of Sumfest because the sponsoring companies have said that they will not be sponsoring the event if either of these artistes are a part of it... their reason for blacklisting the artistes? Homophobic lyrics!

This morning, I read that a reggae festival in France was cancelled because Sizzla Kalonji is on the line up and Sizzla has plenty homophobic lyrics in his songs...

"Of the eight concerts Sizzla was due to give in France, six have so far been cancelled.

Earlier this month, several concert venues in France cancelled gigs by Capleton, another Jamaican reggae singer whose homophobic lyrics prompted protests by gay rights groups." - from the article at Caribbean Net News, linked above...

Why don't these artistes take the message, apologise to GLAAD and everyone for their past transgressions and vow to stay away from lyrics of that sort, so that they (and reggae music) can continue to progress? Singers of homophobic lyrics, a eeediat ting dat!

Cho, man, people are getting fed up! smily

Incidentally, as noted at B.art & Life as well, even though the sponsoring companies (called the Alliance) are blocking Beenie and Bounti, their approach is not consistent, as Sizzla and Capleton will be a part of Sumfest. Alliance, either you are serious or you are not! If you are blocking singers of homophobic lyrics, block them all! Ok, so maybe there would be no Sumfest this year if that approach was taken, but then maybe by next year everybody would be toeing the line and you'd all have accomplished that which you set out to do, so to the Alliance, I say that my opinion of this inconsistent approach is that "a eediat ting dat" also!

Too much a dat Eediat ting dat! smily

What a Gwaan

So, the last two weekends were pretty decent, still... weekend before last, a couple of Shoma's relatives from Jamaica came over to Grand Cayman to visit. The relatives in question are well known for their prowess in the kitchen and Natty, MBJr. and I were treated to plenty good food still... Apparently when they came over, they took note that it was crabbing season over here and they went crabbing in a major way on Saturday night. They caught tons of crabs, I tell you!

A Sunday brunch/feast of sausage & beans, ackee & saltfish and garlic crabs was put on and they had me licking my fingers and dying for more...

In the evening, some irie Chinese food was prepared. We wolfed that down with more of the garlic crab and it was simply delicious.

Apart from the food, we enjoyed stimulating conversation as well... I do hope they visit soon again, iyah!

This weekend just gone was pretty busy, even though it was also pretty rassclaat rainy too! Let me tell you, it was raining all day Saturday and Sunday, apparently some system or other came across Jamaica and is now over us here in the Caymans... Apparently there was some flooding in Jamaica too... Portland Cottage again! I'm sure thats the place that Hurricane Ivan tore up the worst in Jamaica last year!

I hope the people there take it as a warning and move before any storms come and lick them for six! We have a tropical storm out there now, you know, he is called Dennis... I only hope that we don't end up with a reason to call the storm "Dennis the Menace"! I especially hope it doesn't mess up our travel arrangements, as it may well be fairly near to us by Saturday when we are supposed to be lifting off for our vacation! smily

There is some more below...

Big Up, NASA!

Did you see the movie "Deep Impact"? That movie made me aware of the concept of an event which was so large and all-encompassing that it could cause the extinction of all life on Planet Earth. They even had an acronym for it, but I can't remember it right now. I wonder if it was something lile E.L.E, short for Extinction Level Event?

I must admit, that movie made a big impression on me and had me wondering and worrying about the possibility of such an event occurring for real. I remember leaving the theatre feeling quite depressed and worrying well into the next day about the possibility of such an event occurring. I am sure that at the time there was also rumours that astronomers had spotted two comets out there which were going to be a threat to earth in a decade or two.

Its not like we've never heard of such a thing happening before. You know how scientists have theorised that the dinosaurs were wiped out as a result of a comet impacting with the earth, causing the Ice Age? I think they were theorising that a comet struck the Earth, causing a huge crater, maybe like the Grand Canyon. As a result, plenty, plenty dust was thrown into the air or something, blocking the rays of the sun and lowering the temperature here on Earth.... instant Ice Age! smily

Well, the movie "Deep Impact" is about a similar event occurring.

Some Links...

So, I found a few more Jamaican blogs today... Bwoy, with the way that blogging is becoming more and more popular, soon I don't think I will be able to keep track of them! Anyway, todays discoveries follow:

Can a Jamaican take Cali?

Poet In Wisconsin : Shotta Marc

Enigmatic Feline

Here is another blog I should have posted some time ago and forgot to do, due to my inherent laziness and the onset of senility...

B.art and Life

Finally for today, here is a link to a Trini blogger

Small Island Girl

Now, I'm not 100% sure about Enigmatic Feline (as to her Jamaican-ness/Caribbean-ness) because she hasn't made an explicit statement on the subject yet, but I will give her the props till I find out different.

Lets hope they entertain our collective (by that I mean my crew, (you know yourselves) and also, all my readers who may be interested in checking them out) for a long time to come. Gwaan go check them out nuh?

Goodbye Luther!

Well, Luther Vandross has finally succumbed. It is a great pity! I had really hoped that he would conquer this illness and come back to give us some more of his beautiful music once again. Still, hes probably better off now, rather than being in a coma, IMHO...

Goodbye, Luther. You'll be missed.

Advanced Ancestors

Respect to all krew... I've been vey busy over the last few days and then in the nights, I was reading a novel (The Bourne Legacy, by Eric Van Lustbader) which I just couldn't put down, so I haven't posted for a couple of days... still, they say a little absense makes the heart grow fonder, so I know you're all just drooling and dying for a post from I-an-I, nuh true? Naysayers, doh answer dat!

Anyways, if you are a Bourne fan, and even if you are not, this novel is a great one! Very exciting. Thats how I like books actually! Start with a bang, have plenty bangs in the middle and end with the biggest bang of all... Great book.

Anyway, today is Friday, we have to celebrate that, and so, out I come with a likkle post for y'all... hell, I may even do more than one for you today. For this one, I am going to tell you a couple of jokes. Here is the first one:

After having dug 100m, British scientists found traces of copper wiring dating back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network one millennium ago.

So as not to be outdone, in the weeks to follow, the French dug 200m (100deeper than their neighbors) and headlines in the French newspapers read:

"French scientists found traces of 2000 year old optical fibers, and concluded that their ancestors already had advanced high tech digital telephone networks 1000 years earlier than the Brits."

One week later, the Jamaican press reported the following: "After having dug as deep as 500m, Jamaican scientists found absolutely nothing and concluded that 5000 years ago, their ancestors were already using cellular." smily

You know, given the enthusiasm with which we have embraced the cellular phone in Jamaica, there may just be some truth to this... It almost seems like when they came out with cellies recently, it was like deja vu for us Jamaicans, nuh true? smily

Heres the next joke...
