Much Ado About Jah Cure
There is some interesting debate going on over by B.art & Life, here and here.
The posts are about Jah Cure, and also, the woman who claims he raped her, who told her side of the story here. The comments are written by people who believe Jah Cure is innocent of the crime and by those who believe he wasn't innocent, and some of them get a bit nasty, using the age old tactic of trying to cow down those who disagree with them. I believe that people use this tactic when they don't have a strong argument, but its a bit foolish, IMHO. You don't win an argument just because you cuss badword better than the other people who are a part of said argument! I have read Jah Cure's side of the story before, can't bother to google it now to link it (you are free to do so if the spirit moves you though), but basically, the rude bwoy says it wasn't him, he wasn't even there, it was a case of mistaken identity. I nuh know, still, I wasn't there. The woman who was raped has come forward to say that it was him, and she knows it was him because she recognised his voice, she just couldn't forget it! In her own words: "I was able to identifiy him (Jah Cure) because his voice was distinct. They kept talking in the vehicle. Anywhere I hear that voice, I will always remember it. During the incident he tried to kiss me and I could smell the ganja scent on his breath," said Suzanne.
Prior to the incident, she said she had never seen, met or spoken with Jah Cure. She noted that she did not even know who he was until after he was arrested.". Well, I believe that she believes Jah Cure was the rapist, but I am not sure that she is right. In fact, based on the advice I heard from a judge on a couple of murder trials that I served as a juror on, I don't think that she told the court that she believed Jah Cure was the rapist based only on his voice! That sounds like very weak evidence to me. Note: I am not saying that I believe that Jah Cure is innocent! She may be right, after all! All I am saying is that I question her accuracy when she says she knows it was him by his voice alone, especially since she had never heard his voice before, nor did she know him nor had she seen him before. Basically, it seems like they locked up a man, called her in to identify him and she heard him talk and said "Is him!". Come to think of it, that does mesh quite well with what I remember of Jah Cure's story, actually! Anyway, innocent or guilty, I am not convinced. Perhaps we will never know the truth, like so many other things in life. As I said about the man the first time I blogged about him, "I know that jurys don't always come to the right conclusion re a defendant's guilt still, and so I am hoping that the rude bwoy didn't commit the crime!".
In some of the comments at B.art's blog, B.art revealed to me why she said in a comment on a previous post I had written that she didn't like the design of my blog. She doesn't like the white text on blue background I employ for my posts and she especially doesn't like the red links. She also doesn't like my fonts. (I hate my font size under Firefox and Mozilla too, so B.art seems to be on to something! Now I am giving some thought to making some changes, but what do the rest of you feel about it? I'm trying to be democratic. Who like it and who doh like it? Let me know in the comments please.

Musings
What a gwaan, all crew? How you do? Me, I'm a'ight... Hey, remember that I mentioned that I was going to play pool on Sunday night? Well, I did and I was really on my game, peeps! I was making all kinds of "next to impossible" shots, it must've been truly beautiful to watch, because it sure felt beautiful to play them! Sweet, I tell you! Anyway, I noticed that people are finally getting into accessing the Internet via cable providers back in Jamaica! You know, just before I left there, I was toying with the idea of proposing just such a thing to my then cable provider... I was going to try to sell them on the idea of providing this additional functionality at a reasonable add-on cost to all their subscribers, using the infrastructure they already had in place! I was going to suggest to them that they had the funds, knowledgeable resources were readily available and also there was a needy market who were already familiar with them and who would more than likely be eager for this product! I was also going to suggest that they should do it inhouse and that I would have been the guy to spearhead that new department and drive out that technology for them. In one fell swoop, I would have vastly improved my income AND improved the bandwidth and reliability of my internet connection too. It was brilliant! Hell, we'd all have made a lot of money! Now here it is and I see that its being done by a rival cable provider. Oh well... You know, Fyr, you are still in place on the ground! You can still go talk to the Logic One or Telstar Cable... its something to think about, girl! Maybe you would be able to have a fleet of Land Rovers if you made a move like that! I was visiting Kami's earlier too and I saw this tiny little movie file there, quite cute and thing, and then I read in the comments that Doctor D. was unable to see the movie! Doc, that article I linked above gives the prices that are being charged by some of the contenders and they don't look too bad still! Give some thought to abandoning dial-up, mi bredrin. Call them and see if any of them can do something for you. Free yourself up! Soar! Bwoy, even a casual scan of the newspapers reveal that everyone is up in arms re the increase in JPS' bill... of course, its not just the light bill, its the prices of everything! Once oil prices rise, it filters throughout the entire economy and affects all prices to rass! See how the bushy one a eff up all o we life? I saw that Hugo "Should Be Assassinated" Chavez has signed a deal giving Jamaica cheap oil! Wicked, star! Jam needs all the help she can get. Still, gas well expensive over here in the Cayman's, you know! We could do with a visit from Hugo over here too, IMHO! I wonder though, what exactly is in it for Venezuela? I know that they say you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and thing, but I wonder about that, is all I'm saying. Also, since we are closely linked with Britain, and since Britain is closely linked with the U.S., I fear that Hugo will not be welcome here anyway. Looks like we are doomed to continue paying more at the pumps...

An Interesting Little Anecdote
So, what did I do yesterday? Well, I got my "Parent" hat on and went out with Natty to round up some back-to-school items for MBJr. Oh yeah, and ot he got one of those items of clothing that identifies him as a Jamaican! We got the little man his first pair of Clarks shoes! Everybody know say bad man wear Clarks shoes... Later, MBJr. and I went to Rum Point with a Jamaican bredrin who works at the bank I used to work for. Yup, I do try to maintain all my links with my bredrins dem, you done know! Anyway, his wife and son were here from Jamaica for a visit so we all went to Rum Point and we had a blast. Later, Natty joined us and we went to Bayside Cafe (note: that link is really two links, hover your mouse over the links to see what they are, mah peeps.) where we dined on some irie Indian food. We had a good time. While we were at Bayside, my bredrin gave us an interesting anecdote: Now he used to work for a big software company and he used to travel all over the world and help install and configure his company's software at client sites. He also used to code up and implement modifications and interfaces and such delights. Something he said made me ask him if he used to talk to other passengers on the plane when he was flying all over the place. Now I used to do some travelling for my old company too, but I never usually chatted with other people on the plane, but my friend said that he did talk to other passengers and he felt he had met some very interesting people because of it too... He told me that the best example he had ever heard of with regard to meeting interesting people on airplanes was the story of a software salesman who used to work for his old company as well. This guy, (lets call him Paddy) was one of those people who was deeply interested in only three things : his sales figures, his alcohol, and Manchester United football! He really didn't do anything else but focus on those three things, and he was a real Man. U. fan who would fly all over the place to go to the games, so much so that when you went into his office, he had things like autographed jerseys, and stadium tickets and tons of other memorabilia framed and hanging on the walls. The story continues... it was an interesting one, my advice to you is to click the link below to continue reading it.

If it works...
... don't change a thing, I always say! Last Wednesday I dropped a little post where I showed a picture of two girls with nice teeth. The post did very well, IMHO! It got me the highest number of hits for the day for the recent past, and also, it started a run of posts (ok, just 2) that got more than 7 comments which is plenty for I-an-I, so guess what? I gwine to lick out another post just like the other one.
So, when you click the link below, you will see a picture of a couple of girls, at least one is from Jamaica. They go to university in the U.S. (Yow, Jesse, if you see them, tell them hi for the Bull, you done know!) I stole the picture from Hi5. I hope the girls wouldn't be vexed that I posted their picture on my site, but hey, if you care what people do with your picture, my advice to you is, "Don't post it on the 'Net then, honey! Anyway, don't fret yourself, because I-an-I bigging you up! You have nice teeth!".
Don't you all agree?

Google It!
Hey, more and more I am beginning to realise: Google is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Huh? No, not sliced hardough bread, but sliced bread? Definitely... Yesterday, a co-worker asked me if I knew what the time was in Dublin... "No?! Why would I? Ahhhmmmm, hang on a bit.". Yup! I fired up Google and typed in "What time is it in Dublin?". Instantly, a slew of links. I clicked on the top two, which agreed. The time in Dublin was 18:25 on August 23, 2005! Anything you want to know, man, check Google first. Now, here is a nice little music video to watch... "Welcome to Jamrock!"

What Mi Fi Do?
Hey all! I have been a bit busy, as you might have guessed. As I alluded to earlier, I was trying to get some software installed at work, but it is some 'extremely high security' software, and getting together all the stuff necessary to get it installed is a process which gives full meaning to the phrase 'full of red tape'!!! At the same time, installing it using dial up is a major challenge, and my company decided to go with dial up, so... Anyway, it is now installed, ergo, I now blog! So what have I been up to? Well, I spent fair amounts of time at work over the weekend, but I did manage to get in a beach trip Sunday morning. It was glorious! Sun, sand, sea, nice scenery, et cetera... Natty and MBJr. enjoyed themselves as well... Despite the irie weather in the morning, a mini-storm started to set up while we were going home from the beach. After I bathed, I went to work and while I was driving there, one heavy rainfall started to pelt down from the heavens! Plenty-plenty rain, plenty-plenty wind... Whats so big about that? Click below to find out...

Nothing At All
Where have I been? I bin installing a piece of software named Swift. Doh watch the name though, there aint nothing swift about that installation at all.... Long story, but the security ah kill me! All tomorrow I am gwine into work to gwaan fight it! Anyways... so, what I have to chat to oonoo 'bout? Nothing at all! Thats why I named this post that, and with that in mind, click or right-click here and listen to the song whose name inspired the name of this post. Oh yeh, while the lyrics themself didn't influence this post, them really wicked still and there is a valuable lesson to be learned from them. Click pon di link, nuh man?! Give it a listen, its Fanton Mojah, with 'It nuh take nothing". So, the guys who went to STGC with me started an email list so that we could interact with each other, despite how widely dispersed we have become... I like it... its kinda cool still. So, on Wednesday, I read an email on that list on the subject of mental illness and the way people who suffer from it are treated by their families. In the email, the bredrin expressed the opinion that in Jamaica, many people abandon family members who are unfortunate enough to suffer from mental illness because there is a stigma attached to these people.... I was quick to reply to that one! There is a bit more. If you wanna read it, click the link below...

Where Is Everybody?
So, did you all remember that the Cariblogrs Webring has been launched? Its pretty cool, ya know? Look at the picture above. Its taken from Dr. D's site, though there is something similar on mine... See that "arrow-looking" thing pointing to the left there? If you hover your mouse over it, It will give you a tip saying "Previous Site". If you click on that, you will be whisked away in luxurious comfort to check out the site which preceeds mine in the Cariblogrs webring. There is an "arrow-looking" thing pointing to the right too! Know what that does? I bet you do, don't you? If you guessed that it takes you to the site that immediately follows my site in the Cariblogrs web ring, then pat yourself on the back! You are a winner! See the question sign? That takes you to a randomly selected site in the ring! If you're feeling adventurous, well, that is the thing for you to click. The number sign (#) to the right of the 'cariblogrs' moniker there will give you a list of the sites in the ring. Here, try it. Go ahead, don't be afraid! Click it! No, don't click the pictures that are a part of this post! Go over to the ring controls section over there to the left of the post. Click it there... good! Now, look at that list! Short, isn't it? What a shame, because this web ring thing is a great idea! It can get you hits! It is helpful to your website's readers! If they like reading your content, well, chances are they might just like reading the content of other blogs which have similar content to yours, such as blogs belonging to other Caribbean bloggers! If you put them on to something they like, well, they'll be grateful to you! They might just throw you down on the floor and make wild, crazy, kinky love to you! Or maybe they'll send you money, or get you your most desired item on your wish list... at the very least, maybe they will return to your site! Its a good idea, pplz! Of course, to enjoy all the benefits of the Cariblogrs web ring, you gotta join! That brings us to the moniker: 'cariblogrs'... click pon that! That'll take you to the page that gives you all the information about joining! Its really just that simple! I'm looking forward to clicking my number sign and seeing your blogs name on that list, so click on the moniker link now! See you soon!

A Typical Morning Conversation
I love driving down to work with Natty in the mornings because we chat about all sorts of things. As a for-instance, this morning she was telling me that she believed that some of the ladies at work sent themselves flowers! She said there was this new lady there, she was young, but for a young lady, she really didn't keep herself very well. She said her body wasn't that hot and she wasn't that pretty, but yesterday, she received this HUGE bouquet of roses, ostensibly from a secret admirer! My reply was, "Well, maybe she gives good head and people have been chatting it around the place!"
Good head can be endearing, I'm sure the fellas will agree with me! Anyway, what clinched it in Natty's mind that the lady sent herself the bouquet was that she left the bouquet at work when she was leaving. After all, if you sent it to yourself, then where is the sentimental value of the bouquet, you simi?
Speaking of good head, here is an interesting joke I got on the topic: A woman went into a store to buy her husband a pet for his birthday. After looking around, she found that all the pets were very expensive. She told the clerk she wanted to buy a pet, but she didn't want to spend a fortune. "Well," said the clerk, "I have a very large bullfrog. They say it's been trained to give blowjobs!".
"Blowjobs?!" the woman replied. "It hasn't been proven but we've sold 30 of them this month.", he said. The woman thought it would be a great gag gift, and what if it's true... no more blowjobs for her! She bought the frog.
When she explained froggy's ability to her husband, he was extremely skeptical and laughed it off. The woman went to bed happy, thinking she may never need to perform this less than riveting act again.
In the middle of the night, she was awakened by the noise of pots and pans flying everywhere, making hellacious banging and crashing sounds. She ran downstairs to the kitchen, only to find her husband and the frog reading cookbooks. "What are you two doing at this hour?" she asked.
The husband replied, "If I can teach this frog to cook, your ass is gone!!". I hope you enjoyed that one. There is a moral in there somewhere too, I think maybe it could be summarised as "Be careful of the gifts you give.", but I dunno... Star Light, Star Bright
The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again. The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification, Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren. NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN! I received the above notice by email on July 27, 2005. Natty is pretty interested in things like this, asa matter of fact, a good telescope is one of the things thats fairly high on her wish-list still. She is into the stargazing thing bigtime though, and since I knew this, I mentioned it to her... There is more, as usual...

Idle Chatter
Well, I have fed MBJr. and myself, and now that Natty is up, I've put the coffee on. While its brewing, I thought I'd come and say hi to you all... Whats up, blood? Big up to the ladies! Huh? Oh, yeah, I woke up in a good mood. Slept fairly well, I guess...
Today is one of those days when you don't have much of any real importance to chat about, but guess what? Sometimes you go shooting the breese and come up with some of the most interesting stuff, so I'm going to do just that today. Shoot the breese with you.
Its been a good week really. If you take a look at previous posts done this week you'll see that I have been hard at work. Yeh, I mentioned that I was under some stress, even, but like a true Jamaican soldier, I put my shoulder to the wheel and is plenty things I accomplished this week still, IMHO! I'm not going into the details, but I had set myself a goal and I have achieved it. I will be going in to work sometime this afternoon to put on a few finishing touches on my projects, but all in all, I am satisfied with the weeks' work.
I heard an interesting little tidbit that I will share with you all now too... You know that since time immemorial man had been searching for performance enhancers. Yessir, man has always wanted to 'wow the babes' with their longevity in the sack, so much so that they were willing to turn to all sorts of aphrodesiacs for assistance. Now this is a worldwide thing, and people turned to all sorts of exotic solutions. As a matter of fact, many of the animals which are being hunted to extinction in Africa are being killed in the name of love, or rather, sex, because many people from Asia believe that you can use the powder scraped from their horns or the hairs from their skin in exotic comcoctions which will put the lead back in your pencil and the love back in your life!

Fyah Bun fi di Lawyer Dem!
Nobody likes lawyers, am I right? Even if you know one or two that you like (ie, one or two bloggers and a few bredrins), we are all agreed that the vast majority of lawyers are a despicable set, nuh true? Wicked people, Rasta!
Anyway, I got this email today which gives examples of actual courtroom testimony and I must admit, the lawyers come off looking pretty bad. I am sure this will have universal appeal, given the general view that people have of lawyers, even lawyers themselves, so I share this with oonoo. Enjoy! These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm
while these exchanges were actually taking place.
ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active?
WITNESS: No, I just lie there.
______________________________
ATTORNEY: What is your date of birth?
WITNESS: July 18th.
ATTORNEY: What year?
WITNESS: Every year.
_____________________________________
ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
WITNESS: I forget.
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?

ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you?

ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you?
WITNESS: Forty-five years.

A Few Things
Here is the first thing...
I hear that congratulations are in order! A good good bredrin of mine, in fact, a brother-in-law of mine nuh propose to my... er, lessee... is she my second cousin, once removed, or is she my third cousin? Me nuh know! Me nuh care! Diego nuh propose to P! Not only that, he did it on television!!! Heh heeeeyyyyy! What a ting! Yes Rasta, P. wrote to a TV station to see if they would consider their house to be on the TV station's show. They have this thing where they give some part of your house a makeover and they film it, and it seems that the TV station selected their house. Of course, it was a secret from Diego. He only found out about it when he opened his front door to ton-loads of TV cameras one day! Anyway, they did over the house, and then, on the day they were showing him what they ahd done, BRAPS! the man nuh propose! I am very happy for them both and I wish for them every happiness that life has to offer. Congratulations to the two of them! I write it here in case they do drop by and see it (yeah I am going to phone them, but we tried already and haven't got them yet), and also to let those of my readers who know them in on what has come to pass and to allow them to offer the couple congratulations here as well! You know, I feel like I helped set them up too, you know, in some small way...
Second thing!

Just Some Shyte!
So, what can I tell you about yesterday? Well, I had two timebound issues working on and they were on my mind big time. They were stressing me out somewhat. Also, remember I had promised to update you on the swimming stuff... well, that didn't fly for me! Don't say that you kew already that it wasn't going to work out though! You might yet be surprised! Other than that, the day went ok.
Today, I took one of those tasks that I mentioned were bugging me above to 85% completion, and doing that took it past the immediate timebound component too! I have much more time in which to kill the remaining 15%!
With regard to the second task, that is almost complete too... I had to write a program to move some data from one database to the next. The data was not clean, so it was causing plenty of program failures, and the data volume was large... over three million records. Anyway, the program is complete and it would probably have finished running sometime tonight, but we had a powercut and my computer was not plugged into the right outlet!
It had moved over 1.6 million rows when POOF!!! The PC died because of the outage. The data isn't indexed, in fact, I tried creating an index and the command failed, so basically I just had to restart the process... CUC gave me what the duck got, bwoy!
Anyway, its not going to be 100% rant. First, let me link a Grenadian dawta who blogs, her blog is called "Blah, Bloh Blog", go and give it a read, because I enjoyed reading it today.... Also, let me give some of my readers something to look at, at least. I will allow you to prips some hot young Caymanian models... Click below nuh?

Having a Nice Weekend
Its been a pretty decent weekend still, and here it was I thought it wasn't going to be, because I had to go in to work on Saturday, with two problems to solve and I was worried that they were going to devour all of my weekend time.
Anyway, a bredrin (one of Sheggy's brothers, actually) flew in to Owen Roberts Int'l on Thursday nite, so Friday we picked him up and wined and dined him at Canton Restaurant, then we took him on a sight seeing tour, (or as much of one as you could conduct at night). Finally we brought him to our house where we chatted into the hours. When I started to buck (fall asleep), Natty drove him back to his hotel. He flew out Saturday morning. We had mucho fun, it was nice to see a bredrin of long standing still. We hope to see him soon again. When I went in to work Saturday, I quickly realised what the problem was with the first issue (it was a user error) and then I found out that much of the legwork had already been done with regard to the second problem. All I had to do was to write an easy select statement, export some data and import it elsewhere. I was done in no time! After doing that work, I allowed a friend to persuade me that we should go and drown our happiness at a local bar. I had never been there, but he wanted to go there because there is a cute little blond latina slinging drinks there that he had his eye on. Click below nuh?

Open Source Beer
Yes, you're right, I'm all out of chat. Still, I am going to drop a little something on you... Ok, I learned yesterday that a big journalist from Jamaica has started blogging. I want you all to welcome to the Jamaican Blogger fold none other than Claude Mills! Now the man writes for a living, so maybe he will be torn between work and blogging, so drop nuff comments on the man so that he will keep the blogging thing going. I am sure he has nuff good stuff to let off pon us, so give him plenty comments! Good. Mr. Mills is the journalist who is "responsible" for the longest running rant on my blog. Can anyone guess what that rant is about? If you do, you will win tickets on Air Jamaica to the Caribbean destination of your choice... not! Anyway, I am referring to the my long running rants against Supt. Renato Adams and the Crime Management Unit. I read an article that Claude Mills wrote on the Murder of the Braeton 7 and trust me, I was ranting against that, and Krawle and some others for years. I have become a bit tired and jaded with the whole thing now, so much so that I read of the revelation that a cop had been charged with planting evidence for Renato and his crew and I didn't post a damned thing! Anyway, Claude Mills' account about what he heard occurring at the death house at Seal Way really moved me, so I look forward to this man's posts. Unfortunately, Mills was also the man to point out to me that the young man who was savagely attacked (burnt with hot oil) by a KFC worker in Manor Park is now dead and suicide is suspected. I wrote a bit about the event some time ago, and I must say, I really feel it for the yute! Who says life is fair though, am I right? Yowah yow! I am sure you know what open source is, nuh true? If you don't, then google it! Anyway, in a very innovative move a group of students in Amsterdam have launched the world's first open source beer recipe. Join me in praying that the benefits of the Open Source movement migrate very well to the beer industry and that Open Source results in a beer that will be loved worldwide, much like Linux! Anyways, I gone for the night! Peace out!
