Respect to all crew...

People, my post for tonight is to be found here. Gwaan go read the post nuh... look into the future too.. Maybe my blog will look like that soon... who knows... Time will tell!

On my previous post, I think it was Cool Destiny who said that she was contemplating giving up something for Lent. Maybe I should do that too... hmmm... I think I will give up liquor for Lent. I'll let you know how long I manage to keep that up. smily

Peace... soon come.

Clear as Mud

It seems like a number of people decided not to click on the all important link in my post, "Shes Gone From My Life". Just to clear things up, I didn't sell the Accord, and I didn't buy a bike. There was a link in the post which pointed out that the whole thing was a joke... Let me post that link again, it went like this :

Ok, be sure to click here for a final word... and if you block pop ups, unblock them for this one...

I hope that clears things up!

Last night, MBJr. asked me to read him a bedtime story and the first book my hands fell upon was a Children's Bible... I looked through the index and settled on the story of the destruction of Sodom & Gomorroh, for some reason. (No, it had nothing to do with Gay cruiseships, or anything about gayness). As it turned out, I started reading from a section just before the Sodom & Gomorroh story, at a story about this guy Abram and his wife Sarai. Apparently Sarai couldn't concieve so she gave her Egyptian handmaiden to Abram for him to lie with, as she wanted to build a family through this woman.

Now I not too sure about the conception part of it, but this giving of women to lie with business sounds most civilized to me, and I wish more wives would follow that practice today. What do my peeps have to say about that? Anyway, there is more if you like...

Three Strippers and A Nun

Respect to all crew! How are you all doing today? I hope say oonoo feeling irie! Hey, there were seven cruise ships out in the harbour yesterday, you know! Talk about people! The tourists just took over the waterfront! Natty was in Georgetown for a meeting and so I asked her to link me for lunch and the way the streets were crawling with people and vehicles, she nearly met a tourist by accident! (bounced a tourist down)!

Well, it wasn't really that close IMHO, but Natty and the tourist got a good scare out of it! smily

Luckily, she avoided committing manslaughter. If she hadn't it would have messed up lunch!

Yes, I have more to chat about with you...

Shes Gone From My Life

She's gone from my life,
She's gone from my life,
I don't know whether,
to laugh or cry,
I don't know whether,
to live or die,
It cuts like a knife...
She's out of my life.

Goodbye, my love.

Yes, so do you remember how I have been bitching over the high cost of fuel recently? Well, added to the complaints about fuel were my growing feelings of frustration with regard to the heavy traffic one has to endure as a Cayman Islands resident. This has been affecting me more and more, especially as my body has been growing more and more weary from staying up late, reading people's blogs and trying to come up with a post of my own.

As a result of this activity, I have been getting up later and later, and the combination of the traffic and my late rising has resulted in my getting to work late in the A.M. We can't have that, now can we? I finally decided to tackle the fuel price and the traffic issue at the same time, so I sold my pretty baby. smily

Oh honey, I'm going to miss you!

Huh? How will selling the Accord make me get to work earlier? You were wondering if I had just decided to pack it all in and to just leave my job, stay at home and live off of Natty? No, thats not it! No, she isn't going to be driving me in to work either.... no, we haven't moved nearer to work, I am not planning to hich hike and I haven't lined up any rides to work... at least, I haven't asked anyone to give me a ride to work! No, but I do have a ride! Boy, do I have a ride! smily

There IS just a little bit more...

Now I Know

So, on Feb. 18, I was telling you about the front page piece in the Caymanian Compass on two "interesting" blogs which made fun of lots of things here on the island and I linked you to the Cayman Bobby's site. Unfortunately he had shut it down already, but he was good enough to link to the Cayman Blog Man's site and I give you that link now. Actually, the Cayman Blog Man's blog is pretty funny. You should check it out... by the way, the two blogs made the editorial in that newspaper too. The Caymanian Compass has advised that people should ""Be wary of blogs".

Know what else? The 18th was my wedding anniversary. It was the eleventh one, in fact. We had a good day, one of the things we did was to watch the wedding video... we hadn't watched it in a number of years, in fact, MBJr. had never seen it. He quite enjoyed it.

I don't have the wedding pictures with me or I'd scan a photo and post it up here, so I decided to take a couple of pictures of the T.V. screen when the wedding video was running... Check out M.B. and Natty, listening to Father Mock Yen during the marriage ceremony... its hard to take pictures of a T.V. show, have you ever noticed that?

Miss KY 2006

ambuyah.jpg
Miss Cayman Islands 2006
Ambuyah Ebanks

They had the finals of the Miss Cayman Islands pageant on Saturday night... the picture above is of the winner. Nice looking, IMHO. She sort of reminds me of Cathy Levy, who was Miss Jamaica World 1983 and who came fourth in the Miss World pageant of that year. The hair looks different but the face looks similar to me. What oonoo think?

Renato - To Protect and Serve

Over the Christmas when I was back in Jamaica, I heard that Reneto DeCordova Valentino Adams * had cut a tune and I even heard a snippet or two of it on the radio, but can you believe that today is the first time that I have heard all of the song?!

The bredrin that runs Afflicted Yard was facilitative enough to post up a RealPlayer formatted version of Renato's song "To Protect and Serve". Since I haven't heard it, chances are that some of you haven't either and so I link you to it. Go check it out if you want to. Poor Mountain View, Renato prescribes a continuous curfew for it. Any nice and decent people living there had better move out now before their rights are abrogated. smily

Then again, do you think that any nice and decent people still live down in Mountain View? That is an interesting question indeed. Yes, Mountain View does need a lot of attention and close marking by the security forces, but Renato is very strong medicine indeed. Its so hard to know what to do in Jamaica.... smily

Such a pretty place, but so many problems ...

Woh! I Didn't Even Know...

Wow! Ppl, I don't understand it! I have been here, blogging about my own business and sometimes about other people's business but I haven't been looking around too much, you know. Guess what I missed... Yow, there are two bloggers here in Cayman who have attracted the attention of the masses and have been "stirring up some controversy"! Thats what was printed on the front ra$$ page of the Caymanian Compass for today! It won't be online till maybe monday but I will provide you with the link then. But can you believe it! One of these "controversy-stirring" blogs was written by an ex-patriate police officer, and all this attention has forced the poor man to resign from his blog! Check out his last words here at Cayman Cop...

Now, you done know say me vex, right?! Of course, there is more...

T.G.I.F.

How're you all doing? I hope you are fine. Hey, my son's sense of humour is getting better. He told me a funny joke today. Here, I'll share it with you.

Why couldn't the 12 year old get into the pirate movie?

Because it was rated ARGH! smily

Didn't you think that was good? I did! Heh heh heh...

Google is Your Friend!

There is a little present for all the lady bloggers who read to the end of this post, so even if you find this boring, well, skip to the end and grab your goodie bag, zeen?

Now, continuing the discussion started in my earlier post which heaped praise on my good friend Google... today a co-worker called to ask me if I could help her out with a problem she was having with MS Excel. She had made some change in Tools/Options somewhere (she couldn't remember where) and now, the results of formulas were showing both in the cell and in the formula bar (which is usually shown just above the spreadsheet. You know what I mean, don't you?).

She wanted to know how someone had arrived at the results in a particular cell, (I guess she wanted to build her own spreadsheet or something) but she just couldn't get to the formula.

Now like everyone else on the planet, (ummm... make that "like large numbers of people on the planet") Mad Bull has used Excel, but to be truthful, Mad Bull would never consider himself an expert in Excel. Mad Bull is more at the level of an informed novice in that particular piece of software... I wanted to say to her, "What do I look like to you, an accountant?!". At the same time, I do work in I.T. ... yeah, it continues, just click on the link below...

The World Sunlight Map

Here is an interesting little one! I came by this link thanks to Taran. Basically, the link points us to the World Sunlight Map. It shows you which part of the globe is being washed in the rays of our sun at any moment.

Right now, as I write this, pretty much all of the South American continent is under sunlight, which means Guyana Gyal, Taran, Abeni and a few others on my blogroll are probably heading out their doors to go to work, or sitting on their back steps listening to the birds singing or taking a walk along the sea wall and planning their next post or something, meanwhile, back in Jamaica, Cuba and the Caymans, the sun ain't up yet. Its just starting to do a little thing as I write this, actually. Hear the garbage truck there... yes, this World Sunlight Map is spot on. Taran got a different view when he was looking at it (about 3:10am., T&T time). Hmmm... maybe he won't be up sitting on his back step just yet, having gone to bed so late!

In Taran's post, he mentioned that judging from the map at the point he was looking at it, it would have been about noon in India. That reminded me that I have some trouble calls placed at the helpdesk of the Indian company that wrote some software I support at work. I therefore logged in to their site and checked on the calls real early, so that I could respond if they had asked for any information on any of the calls. I figured that if I responded now, I might still catch the people at work and I might not lose a day. Usually by the time I get around to answering them, they are all gone home for the day and if the problem is one where the night shift is unable to help, then its dead until the next morning, Indian time. smily

Yes, it is a bit of a frustrating way to work! What to do? smily

Unfortunately, there weren't any responses to two of the calls and the one with the response can wait until I get to work, so...

Still, the World Sunlight Map is interesting and I will continue using it from now on.

Jealousy

Bwoy, is pure non-stop feting and partying going on over in Trinidad right no, you know... As Carnival time gets nearer and nearer, fete, fete, fete, fete! And I am over here just sitting and chilling. Hmph... I would say "Watch me next year!", but then I have been saying that every year. Maybe I should just get up and follow Michelle's example... see, Michele just get up and gone to Carnival! I should take a leaf out of her book and get up and do the things I want to do without needing a death sentence on my head to force me to do it.

Hey, Michele, me jealous bad! smily

I really feel that Natty would be vexed if I just got up and went off to Carnival by myself though...

hotgyals.jpg

Yes, rasta, Natty would be jealous too... bad, bad! smily

Carnival can really be a money-making thing, you know... Lots of money-spending going on in T&T right now, bwoy. You know who supposed to be making money? Machel Montano and Xtatik! Trust me on that one! The rude yute is performing at every fete... or so it seems anyway. Check this out, the man performed at the 'World Cup of Fetes', Agua, and at something else where they chose the Chutney Soca Monarch (now this sounds like it was an Indian type of affair, and yet Machel was there) AND then, the man also performed at a show called "Soca Divas in Concert" just Wednesday gone... now which part of Machel is a diva? Divas not supposed to be women? Well, Machel deh deh anyway... Three events in five days, and I haven't checked to see if thats all he did. Sounds like the money must be rolling in for him for real, boy! Hey, Machel, me jealous, blood! smily

You know, when you look at it, all Carnival does is foster feelings of jealousy! smily

I wonder if Machel can give me a small loan doh, eeeh? smily

What a gwaan?

Man, it is really grey and rainy and cold outside... I just went out to pick up some DVDs from Blockbuster and the sky looked so grey, it looks like it would rain for a week! And its cold! Did I tell you that it was cold? Jeeze!

So, what else has been happening over here in Grand Cayman?

Freddie McGregor

Hmmm... hey, did I tell you about Freddie McGregor and Maxi Priest coming in this past weekend for a concert? No? Well, click on the link down there so that I can tell you about it, nuh?

Hail up.

Hi. Hows it going? Everything irie? Cool... Me, I suppose its ok... Hey, this morning when I drove out, it was cool... really cool and irie, you know? Its a pity that I had to hie my sorry ass to the boss man's place to put my nose to the grindstone to make him money. smily

CHO!

Why don't I get a phone call right now informing me about a long lost relative that I'd only heard mentioned infrequently who unfortunately kicked the bucket but who fortunately decided to leave all his ill-gotten gains to me? Cho, man! If that were to happen, then I'd be able to chill out pon Seven Mile Beach 24-7!

Yeah, yeah, I know... It not happening in this lifetime... still I can dream, can't I?

So, what have I been up to? Well, I downloaded WordPress from the WordPress Development Team!

I have been experimenting with it. I now have it installed on my website and I quite like it! I am doing some research to see whether it takes up less space than MT32 does... Go, WordPress!

This evening, Natty and I took MBJr. to Little League practice. Yow, I need to spend some more time outside with the yute, you know... I need to teach him how to throw a ball. Yes rasta, so far my efforts have been in vain in that area, but they have also been sparse, thin, meagre, few, etc... I'm sure you get the idea. No, it looking bad man! I have to go buy the man a bat , a ball and a mitt tomorrow and we have to get to practicing.

So anyway, how the phuck do you teach a kid how to throw a ball... I mean, I am not the most patient buddy waiting on the john, know what I mean? I better get some sort of plan in place or I will get mega-frustrated and I will only frustrate the yute and stunt any chance he has of playing Major League Baseball in the future and looking after Natty and I, and we can't have that! Imagine me, homeless at 70!?

Not a rass!

Me haffi ( have to) get creative, star! Me haffi learn the ins and outs of teaching a kid to throw a ball, and I have to learn it NOW!

When you are in a spot, who do you turn to? Me, I turn to Google!

Yow (Listen), me go Google and me type in "How do you teach a kid to throw a ball, and look what popped up: Click here to see how you do that if you wah (want to).

Don't me always tell oonoo seh Google ah oonoo frien'? (Haven't I always said the Google is your friend?!) Yeah mon! Ppl, me gone to do some reading pon de subjek! (on the subject)

Peace...

Natty & Me

... are like Dagwood and Blondie. Check this out. This sounds like Natty and I... except I don't lie around on the couch, I sit in front of Compi...

So, what am I up to? Well, age is definitely setting in, ppl... I am writing this short note to you while sitting at home in front of Compi, instead of being at work staring at the company's monitor... why is that? Well, about two days ago, I was walking down the corridor at work and I felt like I twisted my ankle, just a tiny bit. Still the feeling wasn't really very sharp, and I was able to walk after that as though nothing had happened. Yesterday, my ankle was feeling a mite uncomfortable, but nothing to speak of. Well, last night, the ankle got all swolen and it was hot to the touch. Now, I can't bend my foot (from the ankle) without a sharp pain jolting me...

Anyway, I called in sick and Natty will soon take me to the doctor. Anyway, I'm not complaining too much, after all, my fingers could have been swolen up too, then I couldn't blog! Since I'm at home, you may well hear from me again today, we'll see...

Congrats to Damian Marley on winning the Reggae Grammy for 'Welcome to Jamrock'.

ElizabunZ

Inspired by DJ, (and in more ways than one, because The Island Villager hasn't written a lot recently and he posts ladies pictures) I have decided to post a picture of a lady tonight. Yeah, yeah, not so much to labrish about tonight.

Now this young lady's picture is a bit more risque than the others I have been posting recently. Men, count yourselves lucky for that. It isn't always easy to find pictures of beautiful, fully clothed women on the net.

Anyway, here you go, enjoy a picture of ElizabunZ, uhh, sorry, beth...

Fighting the Good Fight
“They still used the ATM just minutes after my wife was stabbed. She laid dying on the grass beside the ATM waiting for an ambulance to arrive, they walked past her and used the machine anyway.” That memory is the engine that drives the grief of widower Hollingsworth who watched the ATM security tapes of his wife’s death. “To this day, I have never used an ATM.”

Millsy gives us a look into the lives of a family ripped asunder by a violent murder, at how the people involved coped after, at how their family and friends treated them. He shows us a good man who is doing his best to keep on fighting the good fight. Gwaan go give it a read nuh?

Cold Blooded Killers

It was Christmas! I was in Jamaica for vacation, and yet I was standing up watching a radiator repairman trying to find out why Doctor D's car which I was getting a borrows of, was overheating. He started talking to this skinny yute. I was listening mainly because I was a bit impatient and wondering why the phuck the man wouldn't get back to the job.

"So, you done wid them already?" said the mechanic? "Mi kill two a dem already, but me jus a tek a likkle break." replied the skinny yute. "What the hell are they talking about?", I wondered. "Who has he killed? How come they are discussing this with me standing here? Rass Claat! Next thing they realise their slip up and they decide that they have to 'done' me!". There is more, just click on the link below to continue...

And The Question Is...

Ok, y'all... I am going to follow in the footsteps of the great one, Owen of owensoft dot com. I am just going to ask you a question. Feel free to murder my comment box with the whys and the wherefores of why you have answered the way you have. No one needs to feel like they are taking over my blog or anything, just let it all out. Trust me, its therapeutic. You'll feel better for it.

Why am I following in Owen's footsteps? Just because I wanna... haven't you ever heard that "a child shall lead them"? smily

No disrespect, Sir Owen, no disrespect... and now, the question(s)...

1) Seinfeld, the Bernie Mac Show or Sex in the City?
2) Why?

Just A Little Tidbit

I saw an interesting comment on the post below, by this 'John' person. Its sort of like comment spam, in that his link goes to a site advertising treadmills, but then, it seems as if the gentleman actually read my post and posted a coherent comment. As such, I will leave his comment up, even though the man is advertising something on my site without my permission. It also didn't hurt that he bigged me up for the jokes...

Speaking of spam, I am reminded of a comment a guy made at work that I found quite funny. My boss was having a chat with the other fellows and myself and he mentioned that he was planning to put in an email archiving solution. He described what it would do for the organisation and he went on to say, "so as you guys will realise, email is of paramount importance! You knew that, didn't you?".

When he asked this question, he was looking at me, so I piped up, "Oh yes, I know that. Remember when Gregg came downstairs and waited while the network guys fixed the Exchange server? I realised the importance of email from then, boy!".

I was referring to something that had occurred in the not too distant past. You see, Gregg is this manager who seems to eat, sleep and breath email! One day, the MS Exchange server was acting up and Gregg came downstairs to enquire as to what was going on. In fact, Gregg knew the server was down before our warning systems informed us that it was!

Anyway, he came down to our area to enquire about the issue and he stayed there with the network guys for about two and a half hours, cajoling and encouraging them by turns as they worked on Exchange. "If email isn't working, I might as well not come to work!", he kept declaring, and he refused to leave despite the suggestion by our boss that he use this time to get to know his employees. smily

So anyway, most of us chuckled as we remembered the incident, all except one of the network guys, who then said, "You knowwhat? Gregg is really annoying! Actually, he is like a human spam!". smily

I don't know about you, but I found that quite funny! It ranked up there with the time when we were watching an inter-form football match back when I was attending St.G.C. and the fellow who was playing at centre forward for our class kicked what must have been his tenth shot of the day Godward! A classmate watching from the sidelines with me threw up his hands in the air and screamed out, "Rass claat, Craig, give the goalie a chance to touch the ball nuh? Craig... you know what you are, don't you? You're a waste of sperm!". smily

Anyway, American Idol is about to come on, and I also have a movie to watch and its overdue, so is gone me gone! If you want an interesting, nice, long (but not too long) read, go on over to Taran at knowprose.com. He wrote a very interesting story, very interesting indeed. Talk to you tomorrow, seen? Peace.
