No Man is an Island
Here is a human interest piece in the news here at the Mad Bull’s Blog… No man is an island : This is such a true saying, and you don’t even think about it until you are on the receiving end of this. A woman I know here had to beg me to help her out on Saturday. She had loaned out her car and it was returned on Friday night. When she woke up on Saturday, both tires on the left hand side of her car were flat. She turned to me for help and trust me, it was a lot of work. The Jack her car used was awkward, to say the least, and the car, a SUV, was well heavy and my left forearm still hasn’t recovered from the fall I took helping out the DSS Doc to take down his hurricane shutters, but I persevered and now the dawta is mobile again.
I was repaid today… my generate had been running in the most awful fashion the last few days, and by Saturday night, I resolved that it had to be serviced. the lights in the house were alternating between bright and dim, and I was worried that the poor electricity being put out by the generator would cause some appliance to go kaput!
Well, I shouted the DSS Doc to help me change the spark plug and clean the air filter, but trust me, people, it turned out to need a whole lot more work than that, work which was way beyond my limited machanical abilities. The DSS Doc was equal to the task, it appears, and four hours and a few tense moments later, the generator was running in what seems to be A-1 condition! Yes, people, no man is an island, and it is good to help others and nice to get help.
In the Entertainment News, Natty, MBJr. and myself went to Deckers again, Natty and I had the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp and MBJr had the Grilled Salmon and the food was well, well wicked! MBjr. had only half of his meal and so I had quite a bit of the salmon as well and it did well, well sweet! Deckers is irie, mon!
Other than changing tires and working on generators I spent much of the weekend in front of the T.V., so thats part of the Entertainment News… I saw “The Day After Tomorrow” which had just come to the local Blockbuster. It was pretty interesting. I recommend it, it can watch!
On the sporting front, I had high hopes for my alma mater in the Manning Cup competition, especially when I saw that they had made it through to the second round. Today, I looked through the headlines of the Jamaica Gleaner online and saw that they had suffered a defeat!
Bwoy, water come to mi eye when I read about it, but at least it was Excelsior who trounced the ‘Light Blues’. I spent two years at Exed doing my ‘A’ level exams over, and so I consider Excelsior my high school away from my high school, and now I hope that they take the Manning Cup. Sorry, St.G.C! Congrats, Aggie!
Well, we all have our areeas of expertise, nice to be able to share them when someone needs help. I ceratinly would do no more with a generator than refuel it, change oil, and possibly a spark plug. Other than that it would haffi give out. I guess DSS Doc saved you a bill.
I wasn’t even aware that Manning season was on much less to follow which school was in the runnings. Anyway, enuff of me…work on de morrows. Oh, u deh pon leave nuh!

You’re a good man Mad Bull. I know I’m going to get flack for saying this but “good karma makes way for good karma”. I believe in stuff like this.
“Play fair with life, and life will play fair with you”
Truly-no man is an island.
Agreed with you MB. No man is an island @ all, and sometimes it does pay to help you fellow human out, never know when it will be reciprocated!
