House Hunting
Natty and I have been fantasizing recently about buying a house, and yesterday afternoon, we went looking at a few. Natty has a lot of ideas as to what she wants… She wants somewhere nice and big and new, kind of like where we live now, but she wants it to be in a neighbourhood where all the other houses are of similar size and value.
Where we currently live, our house is one of the better ones in the neighbourhood, and some of the others there are quite run down. Also, diagonally behind us, there is a house where they have set up a bunch of shacks which they are renting out to a lot of people, kind of like a tenement yard, I guess, and thats not too good for property values, you done know!
I have actually been toying with the idea of buying a nice quaint Cayman style cottage still. I don’t know why, but these houses have been growing on me. I guess maybe I just want to connect with my roots by living in a house which is similar to the type of house that my forebears must have lived in, I don’t know.
Anyway, I spotted a really nice little one on a pretty big plot of land and I pointed it out to Natty. “Babe, I’ve been giving some thought to buying a cayman style house like that, what do you think?”.
She replied, “Yeah, you could, and then you could just mow it down and build a house that we would like on the property!”.
“Mow it down?” I exclaimed, all aghast!
“Ok, you don’t have to mow it down, we could use it for my hair salon and build our house behind it, the land has plenty of room.”.
Something tells me this is going to be a harder sell than I had thought…
ha ha ha ha….mow it down!
i probably shouldn’t laugh but this just goes to show how different couples minds work against the others. your thinking of living in this place and not even considering that you all would live in it she says she can put her slon there. not that this is bad it just shows how different ideas exist in one goal. this is also funny because i could see the very same thing happening to me and my beau.
home buying is hard. a friend who does real estate once told me that women choose the house and make the home while men just live in them adjusting to whatever it is they baught to please thier wives.
good luck and keep us posted. if you could put pics up i’d love to see your choices and this cayman style house your talking about..
