Negroticons
Have you ever been writing a post and wanted to stick in the perfect emoticon, but not been able to find any that match the idea you want to convey? Man, that has happened to me so many times, its not funny.
If you think about it, the range of human emotions is wide and varied, and also, there can be cultural nuances, or racial nuances to these human emotions and so its not surprising that you might not find an emoticon to convey what you want.
Heres an interesting idea that I came across while surfing. The guy who blogs at The Brutha Code had this brainwave! He wants to set up emoticons for people of colour! He has even gone forth and designed a few such emoticons, though he calls them negroticons!
Check them out nuh…. they’re pretty cool!
Not too long ago, Angry Dog mentioned that he had watched a movie, “The Human Stain“. Curiously, I had been looking at that movie down by Blockbuster the same day that A.D. wrote his post, but I had passed it over. He bigged the movie up, and I decided right then and there that I was going to rent that movie… Well, last night I was in the store when someone returned it, and so I took the opportunity of checking it out for myself.
Its a decent little movie, it can definitely watch, though its not my usual fare. I give it an 6.5 out of 10, on a scale where very few movies get a 10, you simi? Notice that I said its not my usual fare. Its more of a dramatic film than the usual, high excitement, high action films I tend to watch. I also watched Cellular which was a movie that is more up my street, and I must admit, I quite liked it! ‘Cellular’ I gave a 7.5!
Let me say here that both ‘Cellular’ and ‘The Human Stain’ got mixed reviews from other people (Rotten Tomatoes, for one and Natty for the other… Natty said the Human Stain was slow).
Bless up! ![]()

Haven’t seen either Cellular or Human Stain to be honest - tonight, Midas and I watched two biggies:
Troy - Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom looking in full bloom both, shall I say.,.. Pretty good movie - that epic type genre, but the cinematography was excellent, great cting, beautiful people in a beautiful place, very emotive - a very good film!
Then, Midas rented ” Harry and Kumar Went To White Castle” - This is not a movie one can describe!!! In may ways its a guy flick - the humour is very much about men being men and hanging out with men - but it is so ridiculous that anyone will laugh as the story unfolds…
It can watch - and I say that with a great deal of grudgefulness in my heart, as its not my typical movie to recommend- but I laughed ALOT!!!.
Hey! Troy got some excessively bad ratings in the Gleaner and in at least one other place. I guess I should rent it anyway and see for myself, huh?
Oh, Kami was saying at her blog how bad Catwoman was and I didn’t mind it, so I guess you just have to see them for yourself, huh? Doh laugh at me, everybody seems to have thought that Catwoman was awful, but maybe I was blinded by Halle’s beauty or something. By the way, MBJr. is a convert to Halles cause… he loved Catwoman, he watched it like four times! The bwoy has good taste!
Hi Mad Bull-Saw the Human Stain. Well done movie, but then again I love Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins. Haven’t seen the others.
