Downtown George Town - the waterfront…

A small piece of Downtown George Town

A lady on a bike, a car, a boat and a building? Why call that Downtown George Town? :?:

Click on the picture to see, nuh man! The picture was taken on Christmas Eve. Natty, MBJr. and I were on our way to Silver City (a jewellery store) and to Cayman Camera where my new camera was about to be purchased, so this pic was snapped on my old camera, the one the car had run over a few Christmas’es ago. Yup. Its still going strong.

Anyway, this is the offering for Day 8 of the photo project! Yes, the project has survived a week! I think congratulations are in order! Everybody, lift your coffee cups and drink a toast to the photo project! Yes, I know that toasts are best drank with champagne, but I know you all have work shortly and I am a responsible citizen of the world so coffee is all oonoo gwine to get.

Speaking of coffee…. you ever wonder how come things don’t just either work or not? Take my coffee percolator. Its just a… a device. Its man-made. It has no life, no character, nothing…. so if it breaks down, shouldn’t it just stop working forever and thats that?

Well, it had stopped working and so yesterday we bought another one at the supermarket. This morning, in my sleepy headed state I stumbled into the kitchen and began to make coffee. In the back of my mind was the knowledge that we had bought a new percolator, I had forgotten that we had not yet set it up. I therefore put the filter in the old percolator, spooned in the coffee, caught water from the pipe and poured it into the reservoir and then I turned on the percolator. I heard a gurgling sound, then I saw water start to flow through, but slowly… I thought to myself, “Bwoy, this new percolator is slow, man!”. Then it dawned on me… “Wait? Nuh the old percolator this?”.

Imagine that! This old percolator come in like it has some human qualities! It looks like it went on strike! Now when we get a strike breaker, it wants to look back its work! Or maybe it went on vacation, I don’t know! What I do know is this! I gwine to fire its backside anyway! Yes, star, I am going to play the role of the wicked, imperialist, capitalistic entreprenuer and I am going to consider whats best for my business (producing coffee) and I am going to fire that old rat-bastard! (thanks to Afro for the phraseology).

Anyway, people, I gone. I have to get ready to take myself down into the immediate environs of the picture you see above to present myself to my employer! Don’t want them to fire my backside, now do I?

Peace.

  4. Lovely pic. With beautiful surroundings like that, work shouldn’t be too stressful. And you’re being ridiculous. What? It’s not like the percolator’s possessed? (or is it?)

  5. Can’t drink coffee anymore so I’ll toast with the champagne:) That’s your view from work? Lucky lucky you

  6. No, Kami, but I’m really nearby.

  7. LOL, the old percolator just wanted some attention! Hmm just love coffee. I haven’t used mine in a while, just gobble down some instant coffee in the mornings.

  8. I couldn’t work there! I’d be fired in a week. Or they had better make arrangements for me to work from the beach!
