To the Bat Cave!

The entrance to the Middle Ground Cave
in Cayman Brac
Hey, y’all. Its been awhile a’coming, but here is the next in the photo project series. Today, Natty and I went along wioth MBJr. on a school field trip to Cayman Brac. It was mostly cool. The uncool part was a walk we took to learn about the wetlands on the Brac. It was decent also, but the sun was mega-hot! That was enough to convince me that we could have done without going. We learned some stuff, but who the rass cares. The sun sap out we energy, rasta! We never gave a rats ass about anything after that!
Anyway, the picture above is of the entry to one og the caves we visited today. It seems that the island is riddled with caves. These caves played an important role in the country’s history as they have always been used by the islanders to take cover during the wickedest hurricanes! It was a nice little cave, what I saw of it anyway. I really didn’t go too deep, it was black like hell down there!
Hey…welcome back from foreign!! You bring barrel??
r u back in G.C then?
@ Afro - no barrell.
@ 7 - yeah, back home.
Don’t like caves too much..too dark.
Now that’s what I call a cool field trip! Island hopping, I presume by air, to go on nature walks and explore caves is something most school children will never do. And a day on the Brac, even a hot one, beats the hell out of a day at work. No?
I have a feeling that the cost was minimal to the participants but, I am curious none the less. How much did the field trip cost?
@Afroditee - ROFLMAO

To “Cool Kids”, hmmm…. should I answer this question from an anonymous commenter? Hmmmmm…
The cost covered :
- the plane fare
- the price of two rooms at a hotel for us to share to lounge around in and rest in between our tour stops and to have refreshments
- our lunch and drinks at lunchtime was covered as well
- the rental of the two buses that took us around
The cost was CI$125 per person. Natty and I went along for the ride because it was our first visit to my “ancestral” home. Kind of like that trip back to Africa that Alex Hailey took. Look out for my book, currently going under the working title, “The Roots of the Bulls of the Caribbean”.
those caves sound like fun
The cost was higher than I expected, it being a prepschool field trip and all, though I didn’t really have a number in mind. But, it still is a pretty good price and I’m sure it was worth it. I’ll bet that it was the first flight for many of the children.
I look forward to your book though, I am pressed for reading time. Will there be a movie version, perhaps?
