Oonoo ‘llow Akon!
Apparently Akon went to Trinidad and he grind up with a girl onstage and some people are cussing him. Hear them! Akon molests fourteen year old! What a load of rubbish! Firstly, if the girl really is fourteen what the fuck were her parents thinking, letting her go up on stage? Oh, they weren’t there? They didn’t know? Arrest them for negligence. Oh they were there, but they didn’t know he was going to do that? Arrest them for negligence! Look, no fourteen year old supposed to be going up on stage for nutten! The parents are to be blamed, not Akon! After all, what Akon did (or very similar stuff) is commonplace at soca concerts…. We all know it, so why are we not cussing the soca artists then? Cho, oonoo lef’ Akon alone. He didn’t do anything. Plus, the girl never looked fourteen from what I could see of the video, thats probably just a rumour, and she looked like she was enjoying herself to me. File this one under “Poppycock!”.
The photo project is alive and well, check the Tower for the latest photo, and then there is some nice stuff to look at linked at El Toro Loco. Happy Friday when it comes. Peace.
thats a bit silly. ever been to a machel motano show where he runs across the stage and jumps on a woman and grinds up on her.
come on now!
I’ve always found the caribbean had a double standard towards north american artists thats not applied to soca artists though. From back in the days when I was a yout I remember Barbados banning color me bad’s i want to sex you up for its lyrical content meanwhile we had cal;ypsonians singing nuff nuff slackness for crop over that year that was being played on the radio.
Thats what I am saying, its hypocritical man!
This was like a travelling grind……he on heat.
Yes… We all full of crap… Seen? Next time he haffi I.D. de gyal before him grind…
LMAO…I never heard of this…
Who remember Eddie (someone or other) the Trini artist who used to call women on stage and put them up on his shoulders (crotch in his face) to wine?
Yeah, I agree 100% with you. When I was 14 - despite being in 5th form and about to graduate - I was on serious lockdown. I couldn’t even go dance on stage at the local all-age school in my district of 200 people, much less a national concert.
bacchanall all ova de place. 14 yr old nuh have business up in party scene. yes double standards….
it seems that ALL the caribbean bloggers are talking about it. i agree with you and jdid.
wow, my sentiments exactly MB.
You hit the nail pon the head till it cyah get hit no more!!!
People are such hypocrites sometimes.
What’s most telling is how quickly persons tried to use this as comparison to the infamous Imus statement recently.
Only the parents can be given primary blame here. All weh a gwaan still, Akon did kinda a hard pon the kyatty fi a muslim man with, get this… wait for it… 3 WIVES! Too tusty rasta
oh, I never realise seh the article you linking to has the info bout the 3 wives in tehre too.l Kinda takes the zap out of it lol
It’s all Akon’s fault! He clearly should’ve asked for ID.
ask for ID before tekkin a wine? lawd… anyways, de chile lied to her parents. and get this…it’s a pastor’s daughter. catch de trini story at http://www.guardian.co.tt/news1.html
Akon too falla fashin
Then Pastor never know seh him daughter gone out? And dear daughter never know that with a Pastor daddy she really is a Trini and shi should not be be bounced on stage?
jus goes to show why you shouldn’t lie unnecessarily. rass. now she gaan international.
Frack Aikon (Battlestar Galactica swearword) Aikon can go back a him own yard. I am - FRANKLY - more concerned with the female dancehall singers of our country! If man and woman unite to sing and frolic about the overall debasement of man, woman and child, we may as well stop even talking about HOPE!!!
I sat down tonight - a true dance hall girl from yard - is my music dat - soca is a farin ting in my books. MB may be my bro - but him a sell out weh di soca ting come in -y’simi!!! I am a strict dance hall ghirl!
But tonite I sat and watched Macka Diamond and asked my hubby Midas - wat di frack is going on in our home??????????? Man, woman an chile a mek fun a woman, man, marriage and a seh woman need fi big up money an di man wit di mos’ cash - why is there no-one out there bigging up how we women can make money on our own through our reputed hard work, dedication and commitment?
Why is it that dance hall can’t big up the positives instead of the negatives? Don’t get me wrong - I luv a dutty wine wit’ Midas - nothing wrong with sexuality and fun!!! But one of my issues with carnival and soca is swiftly becoming my issue with Jamdown!!!
Waz up with this rampant, aimless sexuality - the picture on the front page that highlights SEX as opposed to good, clean FUN??? Is that what we’re all about now, then????
Is that what we are all about????
@ Seven : Yes. Long time… at least, some ah we.
@ Bakkanal : Yeah re un necessary lying, but is a young girl, she jus a learn the ropes. Everybody has their own journey of learning to take.
@ Leon : Yah, right!
“The parents are to be blamed, not Akon! After all, what Akon did (or very similar stuff) is commonplace at soca concerts….”
While it is true that the parents are to blame for allowing a 14 year old to such a concert, unattended no less, let’s not forget who is who. It is Akon that performed the act which is not really appropriate even if the girl was 32. The argument that everyone else does it or that the soca and dancehall people do it all the time does not make it right.
Rather than saying everybody should back off of Akon, I would say that everybody should be telling him and all the others to behave themselves. I mean, is the activity pictured below, in your previous post, REALLY an acceptable public display? Would you do it at work, in a restaurant, on the street in George Town? So, why should it be acceptable at Nation Stadium and other venues? If you want to grine up in private, that’s great but, in public it’s not acceptable in my opinion.
I think it was over the top and would be even if you 21 30 or 40. I not even coming down too hard on the parents because at those ages you can well and properly scheme to go to places where you know your parents dont want you to.
The hypocrisy I see is Trinis being up in arms about Elton John’s visit but applauding as a simulated sex act is done on stage.Ah well
