A Bit of Bother…

You know what I found interesting today? I was walking past a young co-worker’s desk this evening on my way out of the building and I noticed that she was reading up on Jeffrey Dahmer. “This is wierd!”, I said to myself, so I stopped by and asked her why she was reading up on him. “Chris and I were talking about a recent guy who murdered a teen and he told me that if I thought that guy was bad, I should read up on Dahmer. Bwoy, this guy was really wicked, man!”, she replied. “So, you’ve never heard of Jeffery Dahmer before? Why, that wasn’t that long ago, was it?”, I asked incredulously. She said, “Cho, that was way back in 1991. Its only old people who would know about that.”, she said. “Rahtid, 1991 wasn’t all that long ago! How old were you back then?”, I shot back. “In 1991, I was six.”, she said. “OMG, I feel so old!”, I thought to myself, as I nodded and walked away. Imagine! Its been all of 16 years since Jeffrey Dahmer was the serial killer who was running the road!

I saw the movie “Apocalypto” tonight. It was a pretty decent watch still! Quite bloody and gory too. I remember reading that some historian type woman was heckling Mel Gibson re his depiction in the movie of how life was for those people back then. Maybe he wasn’t spot on, but I don’t think he was all that wide of the mark. After all, those pyramids weren’t built by good will alone, were they? It took plenty, plenty slave labour to build those, you know! I am sure the people were sort of wicked like in the movie!

So anyway, the weekend is upon us again! Yippee! Listen, I had a bit of a dilemma, you know. This weekend, they have “Anthony B” and “Munga Honorebel” here in concert. At the same time, they also have Bunji Garlin and Oscar B in concert on Cardinal Avenue! I wanted to go to both of these, so because they were both at the same time, it was posing me a problem to decide which to attend. Natty has resolved the issue for me quite easily: “Which concert? You mad! You not going a rass place!”.

So maybe I am not going, but if I were, I think I would go to Bunji Garlins show! Bunji has plenty songs and a better stage performance too, I bet! I think that the promoters of the Anthony B and Munga show are going to lose their shirts. Bunji Garlin should easily kill the Anthony B and Munga show, even though Munga is quite hot right now. I wonder if their promoters didn’t know that Bunji was coming to town, eeeh?

Anyways, I am gone again. Go and read this joke I have for you over here and have an irie Friday and a great weekend, yall!

Solid. I almost peed my pants. LOL.

I’ve heard Apocalypto was very good; still haven’t seen it. Despite wha dem say bout Mel Gibson, I was happy to hear that he’d received an award from the LA Hispanic Business community for Apocalypto. Apparently it was shot in Mexico (?) and he hired local camera and sound people and for ALL the other film work, instead of bringing in people from LA like other films usually do. I like that.

  5. Couple times I seen some documentaries on serial killers and they featured Dahmer. Maybe your young co worker not a big tv watcher:)

  6. Hehe, that Natty nuh easy. lol.

  7. Apocalypto reminds me of a scene from the book, Lord of the flies. It’s not the same, it’s just the chase and the brutality…
