My Lucky Day?

Check out that little black bird. Doesn’t he look like he is saying, “Am I to believe my eyes! Can this beautiful breakfast have really been left here, just for me?!”
Actually, these birds get a feast every morning at the Jamaica Grande hotel, and also at lots of our all-inclusives in Jamaica. Perhaps by now the bird doesn’t look on these left overs as good fortune so much as the norm. Well, anyway I am back on the Rock. I had a great flight this morning, and yet I still put a question mark in the title above. Why?
Well, because I am smack dab in the middle of my vacation and I have come down with flu. Cho! I had such big partying plans too!
I am glad I still had a great flight, because I spent most of last night tossing and turning in my bed anticipating lots of earaches due to the flying while having the flu. Undoubtedly that tossing and turning last night is contributing to my feeling of weakness and tiredness right now. Anyway, I used some antihistamines and some nose drops before the flight and that coupled with regularly pinching my nose, sealing my lips and attempting to breathe out hard did the trick. Not an ache anywhere… except the flu induced ones, which are much more manageable, I find. ![]()
So yeah, I have the flu… because of that and general tiredness due to lack of sleep, I was careless enough to leave a bag at the airport, outside where you are waiting for people to pick you up. Wait! The story not done yet! This bag had in my own and MBJr’s passports! Can you imagine the feeling of despondency I went into when I realised what I had done? I raced back to the airport and despite the fact that I had been gone at least two hours, my bag was waiting at the airport for me! The airport security found it and held it for me. ![]()
They tell me that maybe 25% of the people who use the airports do the same thing, ie. leave their bags behind. I was so happy to get the bag returned. Some people were also commenting that had this happened to me in Jamaica, I could have kissed the bag and my passports goodbye!
So, is it my lucky day? You might say that… then again, you might say I was unlucky to have the flu, to have been waiting long at the airport and to have been very tired and for all this to contribute to me making this helluva mistake! I dunno…
In addition to this weak, sicky sicky feeling, I have some decisions to make as to how to correct a certain problem and I don’t know what to do about it as yet. This has me in a bit of a bad mood, as I don’t like feeling undecided or like I don’t know what to do about something.
Am I going to tell you about it? Not a rass!
No, rasta, there are still some things I don’t post on the ‘Net. I bet you wouldn’t have believed that about me though? Anyway, I am gone for now.
I won’t tell you whether I consider myself lucky today or not. Instead, you tell me.
In other news, in honor of returning home, I decided to run two local songs for you, you can check them out over at the Tower of Babel, and also, last but certainly not least, my likkle sistah, Seven has started her own blog. Its called, “I am Seven“. Go on over and say hi to her nuh?
Peace.
Although Cayman has a low crime rate you can still rate yourself lucky. Normally security will blow up any bags left as an anti terrorist procedure.
Sorry to hear your sickly. I’m hoping for your speedy recovery.
Your bag story is one of the things that makes Cayman so endearing to me. In Jamaica, that bag would not have lasted 30 seconds before someone on a bicycle or motorcycle would be seen carting it off. Teef! In the U.S. the airport would have been closed and all hell would break loose. After about an hour, the bomb squad would “disarm” your bags by blowing them to smithereens. Then, when you returned to pick the bags up, you would be grilled like a common criminal. In Cayman, you come back two hours later and the bag is either still on the curb or it’s in lost and found.
I only hope that Cayman can hold on to this for a while longer. Things seem to be changing more and more quickly and not all of it is for the better.
Walk good.
The little birdy looks very pleased with breakfast. Good vibes for your decision!!!
The bird’s living a charmed life.I bet it turns up its beak at worms etc:)
Ohhh MB, I hope you feel better real soon. Seems like everyone is sick these days (well except me, I am gloating only slightly)
That picture reminded me of being on an all inclusive vacation…actually I am jonsing for one right now…
Sorry I wasn’t able to give you a call yesterday before you left…it was a hell of a day at work and today wasn’t much better.
Hope you shake off the flu soon, remember the Vit C. And hope you make the right decidion about whatever it is that is boggling your mind.
Re the bag, yes, if it was the US it would have set off a code red alert! Glad the passports are safe and back with the rightful owners.
well, when I landed in England to go to school in 2001, I walked out of the airport without my boom box. Had taken a coach to Woking, then a train to Guildford. Reached to my room and realized I didnt have it.
Called the airport, they had it. So I had to make the trek back there.
[...] was the weekend for you? Bwoy, you can read about mine here and here and indeed, here in this post. Yesterday was sort’ve cloudy, as I have mentioned [...]
Was a little confused at first. You said you’re back on the ‘rock’ and I read that to mean Jamdung, until I read the rest.
Flu while on holidays. That sucks big time.
