What Do You Think?
Now here is an interesting thing… Back when Jah Cure was in prison, I read somewhere of his version of the events that culminated in his being sent to prison on a rape charge. Sometime after that, the woman he allegedly raped voiced out about her feelings of hurt and anger, at Jah Cure for raping her, and at the wider community who was clamoring for his release because he was a great singer, despite the fact that he had raped her.
I hadn’t heard Jah Cure reiterate that he didn’t rape this girl after her side of the story was published in the Gleaner and while he was still in prison, but to some extent, that is understandable. I have been led to believe that part of the whole parole scene is to appear as though you have admitted your crime and act as though you are truly sorry that you committed the crime. I don’t know enough about our legal system to say whether this is true or not, but it has been suggested that maintaining his innocence might well have delayed Jah Cure’s release from prison. Okay, in that position, I would’ve shut my mouth too! Road too sweet to give up!
Okay, Jah Cure was released last month, right? He has met with the media, and he has been feted and so on. He has had opportunities to speak to his fans and to the wider Jamaican community through the facilities of the media… I would’ve thought that he would have definitively stated that he was INNOCENT of that crime by now! It seems that he is letting others suggest that he was innocent for him while not saying anything on the subject himself…
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I wish he would just come out and say, “Me did innocent!!!”.
But then, maybe he was guilty… Maybe thats why he has said nothing. ![]()
I wonder what will be his inspiration for songs now. He already gave us the prison life theme so maybe he waiting to tell us of his innocence in song
hmm…looks like he isn’t?
Jah Cure is guilty; remember it was more than just rape, but possession of an illegal firearm.
Can’t say in this case. What I can say is that there is a lot of doubt and contraversy hanging over this case.
Madbull….just stopping by to see what a gwan on your blog…every now and then I try to visit the various blogs that I roll…the politricks getting to me so I decided to drop by and see what else is happening in the real world…peace.
@ Jamaican Girl 2007 - stop play with the polytricks - the two side dem dun bad, IMHO - this would truly be the first election, if I were home and had a vote (something both parties fight to keep in process - as US Citizens, you can vote even if you are living outside of the country - but not back ah yahd - as Red Rad would say - “Oh, No…”
Anyways - Ah just not feeling either of them - we’ve seen them both show their true colors in the past - and I - maybe because I’m not living at home, I dunno - am reluctant to vote for what seems like the lesser of two evils!!!!
Frankly - we need to change course - BIG TIME - from everything our political culture is and has been!!!
Is there no alternative in sight????
I think he’s guilty, and it is rather insensitive that people can overlook his crime because of his singing. What would happen to a normal person?
May be? May Be? MAY BE?!
I can’t believe you posit the question in the way you do. Unfortunately it is symbolic of patriarchal Jamaican culture that discounts the sexual and physical abuse of women and girls.
Jah cure is guilty. He raped that woman at gun point an’ im say imma Rasta. Im fi get fiyah fi dat!!!
But he is honorable in that he has not lied and said he was innocent. Just imagine how onnuh woulda gwaan if im sai im neva dweet when he really did.
The fact that he is a great entertainer does not mean he is not a rapist just like it does not mean R.Kelly is not a peadophile.
how come you’re such a dunce coolie?
i get the impression that he’s guilty too but one never know
well with a gun in the picture …you have to ask the question what was it being used for… guess he wanted to ensure that they were protected and he brought along those other guys to secure the perimeter and all that…. what tripe!!! THE likkle @##+% bwoy raped her and him lucky a nuh my sista ….. nuff said.
@ GG: BTW that broad side on us Jamaican men is really not called for, i totally disagree with you, i am sure MB can defend himself, i don’t share no aquaintance with any male that supports Jah Cure F#@$%ERY and i know quite a number of breddrens.
Actually someone posted an article in the Gleaner in response to the young ladies article voicing what seemed like an injustice towards Jah Cure. I will try to find it and link it for you…
Oh yeah.. right on his website… sih it yah -> http://www.jahcure.com/news.php
@ Fiyah : Perhaps that article was the one I read. After reading that, I was not so sure he did rape her. I could fully believe that the Jamaican police would frame him too, and thats not my fault, but as a result of the many bullshit things they have done over the years.
But since it seems to be just the two of us who read it, and as I wrote above, since Jah Cure is not talking about his innocence nowadays, I will gwaan let everybody voice out!
I will be like Akon… you can blame all that patriarchal stuff on me, GG. Ah nuh nutten, my back broad.
As for the coolie basher… cho. Dem say ah empty vessel mek di most noise! Gwaan voice out, man! Do you ting…
